Long story but we only came here because our oven was broken and nothing else was open on Christmas Day. Summary: Too much rice. Steak was tough. My wife ordered the seafood combination (salmon, scallops, shrimp). Everyone else got 4 scallops but she got 3. When I asked they said you get less of each on the combination. That doesn't seem right. And we had no warning about that. The chef was not prepared (not sure whose fault it was) but several people ordered items that were not on his cart. I just turned 36 today and we have been coming every year for my birthday since my 17th birthday without a hitch!! That should be about all you need to know. The waiters and waitresses are all very attentive to your personal desires eg: your water always being full, the alcoholic drink you would prefer, etc and always ask if you are there celebrating anything as it is pretty expensive but well worth the cost. You can get appetizers or a sushi roll and then you have your pick of the entree you would like. You can get one item, a combo of two, or a speciality of three items. I always get the Samurai which is filet mignon, shrimp and salmon. After your appetizers are finished as part of your meal you are brought soup which is meant to be consumed by sipping directly from the bowl but you have a spoon at your disposal if you would like. Then also as part of your entree you are brought a salad with very delicious lettuce and amazing tasting ginger dressing. They sell it by itself which is a testament to how good it tastes. Now the real entertainment starts. The chef comes out and cooks it right in front of you while performing different tricks and a great sense of humor. Our chef tonight 1/11/25 had a train whistle and it was hilarious and wonderful. We tipped him generously. I had my salmon, steak, shrimp, fried rice and vegetables. I asked for a side of yum-yum sauce and was delighted to dip all my meats into it. After dinner if it's your birthday you have the choice of a cake or a shot (21 and over). When my shot is brought out the lights go dark, epic music is put on and a lot of the staff come out to clap for you and sing happy birthday! A nice restaurant that my sister and her fiancé and I stopped at a few weeks ago on 8/15. I had chicken and shrimp and some other great food that we each enjoyed. While the place was a little short on help, we had a wonderful cook for the showtime and entertainment of eating here. read more

Service was ok. The hibachi cook was NOT good. There was no entertainment and enthusiasm from the Mexican cook. Cook acted like he hated his job and didn't get some of orders correct because of his lack of English. The restaurant smelled like paint or some kind of chemical. Such a disappointing experience! I made reservations for childrens' birthdays' weeks ago. We called to confirm the reservation and were told it was all set. When we showed up, the waiting room was filled with people and completely overflowing. We were told there were four groups ahead of us despite having reservations. After waiting an hour, we decided to change to a group of four to get the birthday kids fed (since they were understandably losing their cool after the unexpected wait). They said we could be seated immediately as a group of four. Although we weren't thrilled with this, we were going to do that solution. However, we stood for another 15 minutes without any help or being seated. Finally we decided we needed to leave and get the children an alternative meal since they were crying and hungry at that point. When we shared that we were leaving, the hostess said again that the table was almost ready. Obviously, we won't be back. It seems they need to figure out how to manage their reservations. They were clearly extremely overbooked. Having a reservation generally means not joining a waitlist, and if that's not the case it would have certainly been helpful to know so we could have planned accordingly. I haven't had such an awful restaurant experience in a very long time. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We were a group of 10 so knew we needed a reservation. We called before to confirm they had our reservation. We were on time and found the entire restaurant packed. Their "reservation" system was only a waitlist. We were there to celebrate 8 year old twins birthdays on Christmas Eve. We waited 50 minutes and were told they could get part of our group in. The twins were in tears as their grandparents and uncle kissed them goodbye and wished them happy birthday. Their immediate family went with the staff only to wait in a hallway for another 15 minutes. Two very hungry children and their parents left to go get happy meals. I recognize it was a large group and a holiday, but have never experienced such poorly managed customer service. read more

Went to eat on Valentine's Day and the host in the red dress was AWFUL. While we were eating our dinner she stood by the table next to us and we overheard her telling the busser to talk to her loudly so the people that were still sitting could hear her. She proceeded to yell that she "needed the table because she forgot about a 9 top coming in" and the table looked at her awkwardly and got up. Then while we finished up eating, she came over to our table and asked if we were doing okay and if we could get up because she needed the table???? We hadn't even paid yet!! We told her this and she frantically said she was going to find the server to get our bills. We were there for maybe an hour. I understand that it's stressful and a busy night but that was ridiculous. That is not okay to push people out like that when they are not even finished. We also saw that people were checking in because they had reservations at certain times and there were no names written down. She would group people by just pointing at them and telling them they'd maybe get sat soon?? read more

The man that's the owner works in the restaurant, he screams racist things, curses at everyone, berates customers, says "go back to BLM in Kc" our next visit "you can't afford this" after others Left he yelled this across the restaurant..and the food is disgusting and made with the same poor attitude of the owner- the building is gross and not been updated in decades- location is badly chosen as well. I don't usually leave reviews. The service is awful, never have I been treated so poorly. The food was so overpriced, and on of our dishes had an actual shard of sharp plastic. First I would like to state that the chef we had was amazing. Got everything correct and it was great food. On the other hand... The server guy was off on most things. Poured water into my sprite 2 times and was talking to his coworkers rather than getting my girlfriend her sushi after the hibachi was over. The host was on his phone texting but I guess it's not really his job to check in on us. Hibatchi food is great. Shrimp and chicken tasted wonderful. Sushi however was not great. The Firecracker roll was good but too much soft texture in the middle. The jalapeño on top added a little crunch but it was just too much soft. The rice was very very small grain and was over cooked so it was soggy if that makes sense. Did it taste good? STAY AWAY! We recently went to celebrate graduation. We had a digital reservation that was somehow "lost" when we arrived. Our chef completely ignored us, spent time entertaining the child at the table on the other side of the dining area. Food was put on the incorrect plates, without an apology, as well as being under cooked. It was boring, beyond uncomfortable, as we could see other tables with knives flying, etc, we complained to the waitress with no apologies. Went to the bar to talk with the manager, there was NO MANAGER !!! We complained to the head chef, the solution was he'd discuss this with the chef and took $20 off of a $260 bill. My family and I frequent this location very often however stopped going due to the atmosphere. However, yesterday my family and I enjoyed a great dinner at your location on Horsetooth! The new atmosphere brought by the new server was contagious. I believe her name was Mackenna or Mackenzie. By far some of the best customer service I have received. My family has been coming to Hibachi for years. This has always been a special treat for us. Hai and his staff have always treated us like family. Hai & Lan (Hai's wife) have been running the restaurant for a number of years and have started a family. We enjoy seeing their small children. Our own family had a restaurant back in the 90's and our children were always there. They basically grew up in the restaurant and they turned out to be productive adults. My point is that we in America keep talking about how important the family is. I think we should encourage small business owners to bring their kids to work. I used to love this place for sushi so I was excited to give them my business. I ordered two rolls: the wahoo roll and the spicy tuna roll. I general I love spicy tuna roll but I couldn't finish this one. It was mushy and the tuna was chopped way too small. Also it wasn't spicy. At all. The wahoo roll was good. The salad was all iceberg lettuce with one cucumber and a little bit of shredded carrot. The dressing was good. read more

This place is terrible. Don't waste your time. We went for my son's birthday, he loves Hibachi and we just moved here from out of state. When our waitress would take the time to get her eyes off my husband and ask anyone a question, she sounded intoxicated and was terribly inappropriate. She brought my beer and told my husband she's "good at head" - referring to the beer? or ? The cook made a comment about doing cocaine during the meal. Nice. My 5 year old and 13 year old boys were at the table. He also took every chance he could to make a "That's what she said" joke. Paid $160.00 for dinner. We celebrated my daughter's 19th bday here last night. All but one of our party arrived early. We were asked to wait in the lounge area until everyone was there, which was fine. But the lounge was a complete mess - trash on tables & the floor. No one came over to take our drink order either. Once we were seated, we ordered drinks. The waitress returned to let me know that the bottle of wine we had requested from the menu was out of stock and that all they had available was their house wines, Yellow Tail!? Needless to say, our final bill was a lot cheaper due to this wine selection! Hard to believe that's the only brand of wine they had... Our waitress seemed flustered & confused - I think perhaps she had too many tables to serve. She brought our the wrong soups and then forgot the 2 gluten free salads we had requested. Our table-side cook was great and saved the evening! Food was all cooked as ordered and he was entertaining and funny. We have been to this restaurant several times over the years and unfortunately it seems to be going downhill. Awful. Service was terrible. Our waitress even address the table by saying "sorry I'm bad but I'm new." Wow. Our chef yelled at the staff including our clueless waitress. Food was over cooked. Show wasn't great. The overall vibe at this point was that we, the customers, were just a huge unconvince to the chef. I got a strawberry mixed drink that tasted like someone had half blended syrup and cheap (and I mean cheap) vodka together. Chunks of ice and horrible taste. I tried to pay the bill and got over charged. Took 10 minutes to have my card refunded and charged correctly. I honestly think they're trying to rip people off and steal their money. It's very unfortunate that I had such a terrible experience at this restaurant as I had incredibly high hopes. I brought in a party of 12 people for my birthday, for a large majority of our first times at this specific Hibachi. We were sat with another group and the manager was our server. The group we were with was more than half done with their meal by the time our grill was turned on. The chef came out with the food that was prepped and half of our group's order was missing. The 12 of us were understanding of a few mishaps here and there, but only 3 people of the 12 got their order correct, the first time. The icing on the cake was the attitude of the manager. She was incredibly rude and condescending to us when we voiced our concerns about the food and she proceeded to adamantly blame the chefs and prep workers in the back, which was incredibly unprofessional. She refused to let us speak to the owner and the entire ordeal took us 3 hours to get figured out. I'm rating this restaurant so low due to the service, but the food that was correct was incredible and tasted fantastic. I feel for the chefs, one of which told us that the management is so bad that he almost walked out yesterday due to constant racial discrimination from the manager. Which was not surprising as we saw him be berated by his manager right in front of us. read more

The management here is absolutely terrible. I could forgive the poor service because the waitress was new. But the cook and the manager really earned this 1 star. The waitress forgot to turn on the grill, the cook then started slapping the grill and yelling. A different chef came out 10 min later and diner was fine. Then came paying for the check. Our bill was about 50$, waitress took our card, returned with a 178$ check for me to sign. It took ten minutes for the manager to stop chatting with the sushi guy and come to the register. Then she refused to do anything because "your waitress is the only one who can change the check". When the waitress is finally back the manager doesnt explain how to use the system, she just yells at her and says fix it. Not once did the manager apologize to us.
