The overall vibes of the place are very cute, nice light fixtures and bar area. I came in for lunch on Wednesday last week (party of three) and there did seem to be a bit of a lunch rush. It took more than a few minutes to be greeted/served. The waitress didn't ask if we wanted any additional drinks. We were happy to wait for the ramen and the sushi, but my salad (which was removed from the bill after i asked) never came, and it was a 15 minute wait for a bowl of miso soup. By the time we ended up getting the soup, then another 20 minutes for the entrees, most of the restaurant had cleared out, and we were one of two tables left. The waitress never filled or asked to refill our waters, had to be flagged down to get the check, and took a long time to actually run our card. Didn't sit well with me. I understand there were only three on the floor, but if that is their standard lunch rush, they need to hire additional help. The food was fine. No one got food poisoning, but my party and I agreed we'd all had the same dish done better elsewhere. Had a huge problem with the sake descriptions as well. The one we got was described as "fruity and full bodied". Takes one sip and a google search to figure the main flavor is umami. I hope the next time I come to visit, they have picked it up, however, I doubt I will be making a return trip read more

Let me start by saying the servers at this restaurant seem to be trying their hardest. They were pleasant and attentive. That said, this was probably the worst restaurant experience we've ever had in Fort Collins. My husband and I had a last-minute opportunity for a date night without our kids. It's Valentine's Day, so we knew a wait was possible. Luckily, we called ahead and they could take us as a walk-in. We were seated almost immediately, orders were taken, and everything seemed fine. Then it went downhill. There was a large party of about ten people who turned out to be the OWNERS. This table monopolized the attention of both servers and the kitchen, ordering one drink or dish at a time. We waited 30 minutes for our appetizer gyoza, then another hour for two rolls and a six-piece sashimi. The sashimi never came. During that hour, whenever the owners' table wanted something, they would start whooping and shouting for the servers, each person getting louder than the last, like a table of middle schoolers playing the penis game. Except these were adults who appeared to be in their 50s. It was loud enough to startle every other guest in the restaurant. When the check arrived, we were charged for a roll we never ordered, and we had to remind the server about our missing sashimi. We didn't even want it at that point, but were never given the chance to say so. What eventually came out, after yet another ten-minute wait, was a hack job: what looked like leftover end pieces from other rolls, room temperature, and not fresh. As we left, we rolled our eyes at the large table, not yet knowing they were the owners. They began heckling us, yelling "losers" and "assholes" at us as we walked out. The owners are sabotaging their own employees, who will almost certainly lose tips from other tables because of this behavior. Despite the incredibly bad experience, we left a generous tip, only because it was a holiday and it was clear the staff were being harassed by their own employers. We will not be back. read more

Food was not great (verrrrry bland) and took forever - our waitress didn't take our order for an hour so a different waitress ended up taking our order. My friend's bun appetizer was undercooked. One of the cooks was super sweet and helped my friend take an aesthetic sushi photo. We went during one of their first opening days, so hopefully service improves. read more

Food: The seaweed salad was amazing. It tasted very fresh and the seaweed was crunchy. The dressing was sweet which made the seaweed pop. The beef gyoza were very good, the dough was soft and the meat was flavorful. The acidic side sauce helped balance it out too. All of the dishes were very beautifully plated. I had the California and bonzai rolls, which were both good. The California was simplistic but had a nice flavor. The bonzai roll was delicious, it was smoky, and the tempura inside was crispy and cooked perfectly. The fish on top added a nice texture too. Service: The food came out quick, and the rolls came out as they were finished, which I appreciated. They didn't all come out at the same time so it made it feel more relaxed. Atmosphere: The decorations were nice and calming and it was overall a very laid back experience. We got to pick which tables we wanted and ordered at a leisurely pace. Overall: The food here was very good and had an upscale feel to it. The only thing though is that it's a little on the pricier side. $19 for one of the rolls is a lot but the quality and flavor were good. read more

The clean and elegant restaurant prides itself on expertly crafted sushi. While the food was satisfying along with the service, the menu was small and offered limited items. Most of the sushi was commonly found and didn't go above and beyond on creativity. The tuna roles were not my favorite and didn't match the restaurant's elegance. One unfortunate thing about sushi places here is I don't really think there's any "all you can eat" so be prepared to spend a little bit more money on rolls but the quality does it's justice. When I'm craving a solo sushi date with a quiet and calm atmosphere, I head down Harmony to Nori Maki. Parking is easy and plentiful to find along the east side of the building. The interior is nicely decorated with a full bar, and a row of booths line the window looking out to the dog park across the way. I'm always seated immediately when it comes to lunch time since they don't seem to be too full the handful of times I've been there (lucky me!) and service is always prompt. Their lunch specials are a pretty good deal for the price - two large and fresh rolls for just $15. While I would love to have the miso soup included, the extra $3 is sometimes worth the "splurge" when it's chilly and rainy outside, and they offer hot (and cold) saki in addition to their draft beer, bottled wine list and a few specialty cocktails. My go-to rolls are the eel and avocado, and the spicy yellowtail - the avocado is always tender, the eel sauce drizzled on top is generous without being overwhelming, and the plate decor gives you a feast for your eyes in addition to a delicious meal for your tongue! My experience at Nori was very much just "ok". We had several sushi rolls, and the sashimi bowls. To be fair, the sashimi bowl didn't state on the menu that there would be any rice in the bowl, so while that was a disappointment, it's not like they weren't delivering on something they promised. Just our expectation with the word "bowl". The sushi itself, though, just average. My husband's "Spider Roll" was cold, not just room temp., my "Rock and Roll" didn't have a ton of flavor, and we just left kind of hungry. Obviously we could have ordered more, but we weren't super impressed and just didn't want to spend any more money. Not terrible, but not a place I'm dying to try again. read more

Nori Maki Bar is a gem for sure. The sushi is tasty, they have a great selection of sake, and the decor is really cool. I was under the impression from the photos that it was a lot more formal than it was, so don't go in expecting anything but a casual atmosphere. The sushi is beautifully presented. All the sauces are drizzled across the plates with complimentary garnishes--you can tell a lot of care and time goes into cultivating each dish. Even with this fabulous presentation, the service is really fast! I got the veggie roll that featured tempura sweet potato, something I'd never seen before but knew in my heart would be delicious (my heart was right). I also tried the eel avocado roll, and that flavorful dish did not disappoint either. Another great aspect was the sake offerings. We opted for the Organic Sake, and the server poured our first glass, which was a nice touch. Something that detracted from the atmosphere here were the chairs half wrapped in plastic that sat in the corner. The chairs gave the impression that the restaurant was unfinished (which seems likely) and was too "behind the scenes" for my liking, particularly because I was looking for a more formal experience. I seem to be the first one to post a gluten free/celiac review, so I hope people find this helpful. I called first to ask which sushi rolls are gluten free, and was thrilled to hear that most of them can be!
