I see why this place doesn't have a great rating. First off, the host forgot us as we waited a very long time for a table when they weren't busy. Then, we were seated at the hibachi table, and we waited over an hour for a chef to become available (pretty sure we were also forgotten about then)...the waitress argued with us several times that we had "only" been waiting for 40 minutes...which we were not. Had 4 hangry kids with us and all they got to eat were French fries because the kids menu isn't that friendly. The chef Auggie was super great though...and thankfully made up fir everyone's bad mood. Good is not like it use to be here. Lower quality and smaller servings. Very disappointing.

Overall it was an average experience. The place was cold. Ok do the outside temps were low...I get it. But that's why I elect to eat indoors. I kept my jacket on the entire meal. The bar area was pretty empty. Which in fine with. I wxiwcted a large crowd everywhere but surprisingly on a Saturday around 7:00pm it wasn't crazy at all. At this place toy poetically want to come as a large group and not so much as a couple. I think you would enjoy it more as a group as opposed to date night. Service was ok. Nothing to brag or complain about. Food was borderline mediocre, average at best. The seaweed was tough and not as tasty as I'd expect. If was chewy. I had a ceasar salad ir whatever table salad they bring out and it wasn't fresh/freshest. I also had the chicken teriyaki and I could have done without it. Chicken was hard, sauce wasn't authentic, rice was a bit salty. I'd like to try this place again. I think it has potential. One more try but im not rushing into it read more

I've gotten sushi and hibachi here for work and then again last night when I just needed something to comfort me (fun how the thought of sushi sounded comforting after the day). I've sampled the hibachi roll (which I can't ever seem to find on the menu, but they obviously have), the heart attack roll without jalapeños, and the chicken teriyaki with white rice. Everything was decent. Fish seemed fresh enough and had good flavor. The second time I got the hibachi roll it wasn't as fabulous as the first, but it could've been my lousy mood that soured the taste. I also managed to make a couple meals out of the chicken teriyaki because like most places they give enough to feed a small country. The girl who runs the front is sweet and chatty. Very welcoming when you walk in. A friendly face is always good on days when you're not feeling particularly chipper. Overall not bad. It does what it needs to fulfill your sushi needs. read more

While visiting Charleston over the weekend we chose Hibachi for my fiancé's birthday dinner. To say that we had an awesome experience is an understatement! Everything was absolutely perfect...our sever, Sarah had the most amazing personality and was very attentive to us and the other customers at our table. The chef was hilarious and he put on a killer hibachi show and the food was absolutely scrumptious!! I typically love this place and have been coming for years, but the past few times that I have been it has truly gone downhill. We came to celebrate a birthday, and our waitress was great. Our chef, however, kept wiping his nose on his chef coat, and coughing all over our food. Then he started slurring his words, and slinging food all over our plates and the table. He missed our plates several times, and at one point slammed the utensils down because he was falling asleep. He definitely was on something and kept dropping the utensils, we finally asked him what he was doing and his response was, "what am I doing? I really don't know." It's called Hibachi here and teppenyaki at home. Go figure! They have a huge grill where they cook up your food in front of you. The chef's sometime miss, which pleases my inner evil wench. The food is totally edible, the sushi is also rather nice too. I'm not sold on the miso soup as at home miso basically means that there is nothing in it apart from some seaweed, shallots and tofu. So I was a bit confused by what I was given as it wasn't what I knew as miso. Let's blame the country difference on that one! Otherwise the food was great, huge huge serves though! I had to be rolled out of this place and literally into the car. Be aware that it can get a bit xxxy though, being that for 2 people we ended up paying $70 for our dinner. I was a bit surprised by this price as we only had 2 dishes and a shared sushi. Maybe they were charging extra for the rice and whatever else, I didn't really take notice due to being so full I just wanted to get home and lie down to die a peaceful death. Let me start off by saying I love this place. Today we entered the restaurant and got seated. I went to use the restroom and in the stall next mine on the BATHROOM FLOOR was a servers apron. So I noticed they had on black adidas with white stripes (hoping it wasn't my server). I tell the hostess who she said she would take care of it. I'm not sure what was done but I noticed the same shoes on a server/bartender who had straws in her apron after the incident. The absolute worst service ever. Was seated after 45 minutes of waiting. Our server Micheal was very rude. He got our drinks after telling us he was busy and didn't come back for at least 35 minutes. When he finally came to take our orders he didn't write anything down and left us waiting for a very long time. When he finally brought the food he forgot some of it. When we asked for checks we were left waiting again. We had to ask several other servers where our server was. While waiting for our cards he yelled across the restaurant "DON'T ASK KATIE ASK ME". I have eaten here several times in the past, those experiences are the only reason it's a 2 star instead of one. I have found that, if there's a problem, customer service is not their priority. We picked up a go order of 2 hibachi chickens and rice and a side of shrimp, which came to over $50 (I guess they want you to take everything out of the bags to make sure it's correct. I guess it's my fault for trusting that the order was right). The place I was going was an hour drive away. We arrive there and find there is no rice in the chicken dinners. I called and told them. Then realized no shrimp either, but figured I would let that pass as "things happen ". Today I called for my 2 replacement dinners, and they just wanted to replace the rice. REALLY. I didn't eat the partial dinner they gave me as I like the chicken and rice mixed with yum yum sauce. I did eat the tiny salad and soup, so I didn't expect those. The manager felt that only the rice should be replaced. I guess she felt it's my fault I like my chicken WITH my rice and didn't eat what THEY gave me. I told her I would never be back and she said "sorry you feel that way" (but not sorry enough to make it right). So BEWARE if they mess up your order. read more

Tried to get a table yesterday evening, 40 minutes wait. Ok that's fine but 20 minutes into the wait was informed it would be another 30 to 40 minutes due to chefs leaving. We left and didn't eat, not because of the wait. The hostess was one of the rudest kids and I mean kids we have ever dealt with. Service. It isn't that hard. No one to greet you at the door. Helped myself to the bar, waited. No one, NO ONE knows anything about their wines. The servers are all making their own cocktails. Not great for large parties, they put us in a hallway in the back and you couldnt hear anything. The acoustics are terrible. We had a party of 20 during the Holidays this shouldn't be suprising, but we had one waiter who promptly warned us that our food may be cold. Our cook was very unprofessional. We had a group of 7 at our table and on 3 different occasions he made sexual actions while cooking out food. We told him that we didn't like it and yet he did it again. I told him that I did not appreciate what he was doing. When the food was cooked I got 4 shrimp and maybe s 1/4 cup of chicken. I feel that it was for spite. I asked at the beginning if he is as good as the man at the other table and he said, I'M just here to get it done. I have driven past this restaurant several times; however, never visited because the outside looked pretty crappy... but I'm glad I took a chance! The interior looks great, clean, and well kept. I was immediately greeted and taken to a table. Within minutes, a server came and got our drinks and we were ready to order. Usually at a hibachi restaurant, they try to fill up your table before the chef cooks for the table but despite the fact that my party of 4 were the only people at the table, the order was put in right away, and I did not have to wait for others to come to the table, which I thought was great! There was not a delay in waiting for other parties, which I appreciated because I was hungry! The prices are very well priced especially given the fact that I went during dinner time. I really have nothing bad to say about the place. The service was great, he was always around and I never had to ask for a refill because he already took care of it. I was extremely hesitant to go visit this place due to the negative reviews about the restaurant. It's really not that bad! My boyfriend and I have never tried the teppanyaki part of the restaurant, only the bar/sushi side, but we love it! From day one we have considered this place a random gem. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is quite nice. I have also never had any issues with any of the bartenders or waiters/waitresses, they have all been extremely nice, checked in often, and even accommodated us about re-seating when I was too cold in a section. The food tastes great, they have some really good drink specials, and overall the atmosphere has been wonderful each and every visit. read more

I've been going here for years. The food is fabulous. Just don't sit at the bar for lunch. It's never staffed and the wait is horrendous. Would love to see them improve the wine selection. Sutter Home and Yellow Tail just doesn't cut it. Other than that, yum! read more
