Orange Pad Thai. Would not order again.
    Diana C.

Though the service was very pleasant and friendly, the food was disappointing. I was taking two people to try Thai food for the first time and wanted to order some standard appetizer and noodle dishes. The Pad Thai had too much sauce and was orange in color. Any time Pad Thai is either hot or orange in a restaurant , it does not feel legit to me. In this case it was orange. I also ordered Drunken Noodles, which were not the typical wide rice noodle. They may have been egg noodles. I'm not sure. The Drunken Noodles also did not have the sweet heat I am used to from other restaurants. The Drunken Noodles were more salty than sweet. The Pad See Ew was the best dish of the three. It was actually comforting, had the right noodles, and waas flavorful. The spring rolls, crab Rangoon, and chicken satay were ok. The satay sauce was basically straight vinegar, and I had to explain that that's not normally how it tastes. Considering this restaurant is so highly rated, I was just expecting a better first time experience for the people I brought here.

Ginger stir fry... ginger, onion, peppers, and wood ear mushrooms.

Just passing through Charleston. We were just driving around and not too many places caught our eye. Saw Elephant Thai.... Food was absolutely exceptional. I had the Ginger stir fry with chicken., and some fried rice. Wow, out of this world good. It had onions, peppers, wood ear mushrooms, and chicken along with a side plate of rice. Service was excellent, place was clean, nice music, not loud. Lots of people!! Its already on my list for a return visit on return from travels farther west Again, an absolute hit with me..

There isn't a lot of tables I think 6 one larger one in the center. If you don't get there before a rush you will have to wait for your food in front of the door and register best hold 4 people max. My biggest fault is the lack of space as they have great options and some Asian food to buy at the entrance too but once people are there you can't really see you buy. Decor wasn't something grand it was really walls, windows, table, food. That's all you really need, but I just wish there was more space. 2 out of 5 Service: The lady that took our orders and brought us our food was so kind answered any questions we had and offered great ideas for our kids. There was free water and food was brought to us. 5 out of 5 Food: This is where things get a little out of hand please note I cannot spell so best of luck! I got the Pad Thi with little spicy - it has quite a bit of nuts on it adding a beautiful crunch, bright bean sprouts, and just the right mix of spice. 5 out of 5 Tum um Soup I think - had nice flavor and is what was expected as all tum um soups. 4 out of 5 Ramen with sauce - kids enjoyed and ate what they could best way to explain dried ramen with flavor packed added after cooking. 3 out of 5 Pad won seen - (I am very sure I spelled that wrong or got it mixed up) I personally wish I got this over the pad thi; nice sauce sweet but salty. Fresh broccoli and shrimp. 5 out of 5 I didn't ask if they had a bathroom and I didn't see signs so I don't think it was an option to rate. Over all 3.7 out of 5! Going to round up to 4!

I ordered Kung pow chicken Xtra spicy and specifically stated that in the online form comments. I also asked for a very small amount of sauce in the comments for the mixed vegetable plate I ordered. I was taken back by the $5.69 added service fee and then the added $1.69 fee for something else but not well defined, plus taxes and a tip. The total cost for two meals deivered was $46 and change. I looked forward to good food. The order arrived an hour later than initially quoted. The Kung pow was mushy not crispy as it should be and it was not spicy as I requested. The mixed veggies has extra sauce, not a very small amount as requested. And the sauce was just basic soy sauce mixed with water. Nothing special and somewhat disappointing. I will not order from here again nor even order to pick up as it appears they make everything like an assembly line and anything outside of the assembly line normal is not acceptable. The don't follow instructions so I can't feel comfortable recommending this place nor give them more than 1 star. The Kung pow was thrown out as it was like dog food, my money was wasted sadly. I poured out 99% of the mixed vegetable sauce and ate the oil and soy sauce soaked veggies.

The edamame tasted old/dry, the teriyaki salmon wasn't bad, the dumplings tasted good according to my husband but he ended up getting sick later. When I first walked in, I thought I might be in the wrong place because it looked more like an Irish Pub than it did a Japanese restaurant. There is the first bar area and then you can go to the other side where the main dining area is. In the back they have an area for private larger group dining, as well. I decided to sit at the bar in the main dining area. The waitress was friendly and helpful in recommending some of their more popular dishes. I decided to start things off with a little seaweed salad. I was surprised with the portions. I've never had this much salad. It was fresh and delish! For my main course, I ordered the Mongolian filet and a few specialty sushi rolls my waitress recommended. Two of the rolls were good, but one was way too salty to eat. The Mongolian filet wasn't what I expected but it was ok. I was expecting the more traditional Mongolian brown sauce, but this didn't compare to any Mongolian sauce I've ever had. I eat a lot of Asian cuisine and I just felt it didn't taste that Asian to me. Having said that, the filet bites were well cooked and tender. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. I'd order the Dragon Maki roll again, but I would probably try some different items the next time I visit.

Being from New Jersey, I am a huge fan of bagels and while the bagels at Panera cannot compare to the great Jersey bagel shops, they are pretty good and to paraphrase Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" we ain't in New Jersey. I would definitely recommend their bagels, but cannot really comment too much on their lunch items as this place, at least for me, is more about breakfast than anything else. The prices are lower on the mix and match, but there are less options. I picked the toasted Italiano and the bacon turkey bravo. They were advertised as $5 each for half sandwiches.
