We've used this company for almost ten years and had even recommended them to friends who hired…read morethem. Last year was the first time their work was problematic, and their response was as surprising as the mess they made. We hired Budget to trim a tree with branches overhanging our roof last summer. When they cleaned up the debris, they raked against the grain of the shingles and pulled up shingles all over the roof. In addition to destroying the seal, they raked the debris from the trimming process under the shingles which prevents them from laying flat and allows water to get underneath. Their workers also dragged trash cans filled with the debris around the roof leaving drag marks all over the roof. After a couple of months of the rainy season, we started getting leaks all over the house. In the last few months, we have had to fix leaks in almost every room of the house. Since there were no hurricanes last year, the only thing that disrupted our roof since last summer was Budget Tree Service. I contacted the company immediately after they raked up our shingles and their initial response was that it was my word against theirs. They sent someone to look at the roof. That person over-estimated the age of our roof by 16 years and accused me of lying when I corrected him. They then checked permitting records which verified that I was correct. The fact that he thought the roof was so much older is evidence of how much damage they did and how widespread the damage is. Although the owner offered to repair the roof, none of the roofing contractors that I spoke with recommended repair because the damage was so extensive and widespread. Two declined to give me a repair estimate at all. The one that did provide an estimate specifically said that they would not guarantee the work. When I told Dale, the owner of Budget Tree Service, about the contractors' recommendations, he said he wanted his own inspector to inspect the roof, which I immediately agreed to. A month went by with no inspection. When I was able to reach Dale, he had one excuse after another but kept saying that he was looking for an inspector. After a month, Dale had his attorney send us a collection notice. We paid his bill, but the damage that his workers caused is ten times the amount of his bill because it looks like we will have to replace the roof. This company has been trimming our trees for almost ten years and we have never had any disputes before and always paid promptly. The previous time we replaced our roof, we specifically scheduled tree work before the replacement to avoid the chance of damage to a new roof, which they expressed appreciation for. We are surprised that their workers, who must often work on roofs, would not know that it is damaging to pull up shingles and not to rake against the grain of the shingles. And we were completely floored by their response when we contacted them about the problem. Their default response to anything I said was to accuse me of lying, while not being truthful themselves.

Then last night while I was hundreds of miles out of town I got a call from someone named James who said he works for Sunbelt and wanted to come do the work this morning at 8 am. I informed him that I could return by 11 am as I had a very long drive ahead. He agreed to get started and I would be there by 11 to pay him. We discussed in detail what I wanted done. The original quote also had the exact job written on it. I start my 8+hour drive home and make it there by 10:30 am. No one is here! No one answers the phones. No one returned my voicemails! I am livid! Exhausted from my drive, leaving behind a family emergency to have this tree work taken care of. Disgraceful customer service. If any of the "owners" would like to contact me. They took care of removing large overgrown shrubs in front of our house with an excavator, Rob redesigned the yard using a video demonstration beforehand which looked outstanding, the crew laid new bordering, expanding the beds, replaced all soil and added weed-preventing landscape fabric and landscape rock, and added several palms, small shrubs, and several items of color that were mostly maintenance-free at our request. Some landscape companies will take what you request and twist them to convince you to use certain plants that turn more of a profit for them, but not Leafy Landscapes. They'll work with your request and do everything to make it happen, offering some expert guidance along the way, but not hard-selling toward something else. What I like most is that Rob and his crew are expert at landscape and landscape design and have been involved in horticulture for many years, so they know what works and doesn't work in a central Florida landscape. I hired these guys about two years ago and it's been a constant struggle to get them to do the job…read moreright, anywhere from breaking sprinkler heads that they didn't report or repair to killing most of my garden with "weed control". Chris manages the bussiness and only cares about charging for services that are done very poorly or not at all. I travel out of state and without fail always find an unpleasant surprise with my garden and lawn when I get back home, from big swaths of dead grass and plants due to broken sprinkler heads and not getting water to the most recent disaster where I asked them to do weed control,, and unfortunately, their technician sprayed all of my plants and killed most of them. Kiefer, Chris's assistant Inspected the property and acknowledge that they had screwed up and killed a lot of plants. He promised to replace them, but now two weeks later and nothing. I talked to Chris about this and his reply was "we'll schedule it when we have time and the plants are cheap enough to buy". I'm afraid I'll have to seek legal action against these people to get resolution. They simply don't care. Do yourself a favor and find a more responsible Landscape company to take care of your lawn and garden.
