Such a peaceful place. Stayed three nights with family of four. Kids enjoyed loft. I enjoyed the deck in the early morning and late evening. Everyone enjoyed Mammoth Cave Tour and the restaurant PJs Roadhouse. Lovely place! read more

Nutmeg was the perfect little cabin for a quick weekend getaway to the caves. It was well-equipped, comfortable and adorable. It was located close to everywhere we wanted to visit and the Hickory Cabins staff was a pleasure to deal with. I would definitely recommend spending your Mammoth Caves vacation there. read more

Mammoth Caves most ideal launching spot! I can't say enough about how fantastic we thought this little cabin was. We stayed in Big Leaf, and found it impeccably clean, only a couple years old, with a great layout for our family, and within only a couple minutes of the National Park. One can enjoy the caves, but then escape happily from the crowds to this cabin of peace and relaxation, cook your own meal in the well equipped kitchen, and then sit outside on the deck and listen to nature instead of the noisy crowds. After that, retreat inside to warm up by a little fireplace, rest in the perfectly comfortable beds, then throw open the windows the next morning to listen to the birds singing and start another beautiful day. A few winding roads to get out to this place, but excellent directions were provided. Peace so often comes from simply getting away from big crowds, larger hotels, etc. This place had everything we could've wanted, as well as an incredibly kind and helpful owner. Simply a most perfect spot for our vacation! read more
