Convenient location to us and typically has better pricing than other nurseries. They often have helpful people on site. If u go during a slower time, better chances of being able to get advice/assistance. Have purchased several plants/trees here. R banana trees have done well, mango tree ok and r $300 avocado tree was dead within a year. Selection varies dramatically based on time of year and health of the plants varies even more. Sometimes we go and there r lots of things we want. Other times everything looks pretty sad and like it should b on clearance, especially as the weather warms up. I appreciate that they will order in specific plants upon request. In fact, they were the only nursery who was able to successfully order in the specific variety of plant we wanted. Others tried but got in the wrong plant & tried to talk us into it. Riverland 1st got the wrong plant so immediately called us & let us know they were fixing it & they did. So happy to find Riverland Nursery. I did not want to go to a big box chain for plants. Being able to see specimens in the ground was very cool as we are not from here. It was nice to see how big things can get. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of follow up and customer service from Riverland Nursery. Plants that we purchased for outside of our lanai were improperly planted 4/5 inches above ground. As a result, many of the branches died. I contacted Vince to have someone come out and replant these bushes with no success. Stay away from Riverland unless you want to be ripped off! read more

In the front yard, the snowy bush surrounding our electrical box showing signs of wearing out. Looking around the Lowes, Homedepot and several local nurseries for the snowy bush, no where to be find! As I recalled, Riverland Nursery had a fairly large collection of shrubs, trees and flowers. Wow, the place was packed and parking in the back was completely full. I was not disappointed. Immediately, I picked up 5 containers of snowy bush for the garden repair job on Sunday! As I walk down the garden center, I noticed my favorite Mango tree - Millaka and Glenn variety are also available. Since I did not prepare Mango planting site yet, I did not pick up the Mango tree! This is the sign on highway 80 east of Fort Myers at Fort Myers Shores. Nice place loads of flowers and an am plant information class,free. Then go out and pic your plants they have wagons you can load on your beautiful plants. We bought a Gardenia plant. They have an air condition inside to pay for items and have a cold cup of water. This place is AMAZINGLY!! It's 3 acres worth of plants and I am still in awe. The owner, Mayor (sp?), can be seen walking around with a water backpack lol. He looks like someone who just went hiking lol. This man knows everything!! He has such a true genuine passion for plants and botany that you just want to spend all day with him listening to what he has to say. I will definitely be back to this place. This place is so much fun to walk around and see the wide variety of plants they carry. We purchased several banana trees and lemongrass from here, but we will be back for more! Mixed feelings about this place. Very knowledgeable about plants etc. little pricey. What good does all that knowledge do if you can't get assistance. The last five times I went, I had to wait between 20-30 minutes which by the way was interrupted several times saying excuse I'll be right back or customers who couldn't wait like I did interrupted and the employee strolled off to show them what they were looking for. Very very frustrating. Today was the same. Couldn't find what I was looking for as the nursery is large and could locate no one to help. No one. I left with nothing. The next nursery is like 12 miles away. Ugh! I give up and just can't go back for this result. read more

We were looking to redo a few of our flowerbeds and since Riverland is the closest nursery to our home , I stopped in. Well I can now say that we are extremely lucky to have them so close because they are wonderful. The staff can't do enough for you and all are very knowledgeable about plants . I went in with several plants in mind but after talking to the employee she was able to give me feedback and help me to pick things that would be better suited for what we wanted to so. Everything I purchased looks great and I will definitely be back again. Also, I have to agree with an earlier post that the owners love of plants and knowledge shows. He took the time to show me how and where to clip my new plants and was able to fill my considerable gaps in knowledge. read more

Do not buy from these people. We bought an avocado tree from them; took care of it according to their instructions, and paid extra for them to come and plant it themselves. Five months later, the tree is dead. Best they can do is a 25% discount toward the purchase of a new tree. We had avocado trees in California for years, had great crops and never a problem with them. Wow! Where do I begin? This place is heaven! The staff is amazing! Truly the best customer service we have ever had. They know everything about plants and are very eager to explain anything you want to know. I have learned so much about gardening from Mayer and Vince. Now gardening is my new passion. We moved to the area several months ago and wanted a fresh new look to our landscape. Vince worked with us and meticulously planned our new landscape. It looks so beautiful! We could not be happier! I could go on and on, singing the praises of Riverland Nursery! Their selection is also the best. I wish you could hear all the compliments we get from our neighbors on our yard. I ordered from Vince Coontie palms. 8 to be exact Dan said they were 30"to 36". When I arrived they were very small. I received a credit from Kiki for one plant. Neither Vince or Dan were there. The morning of the pickup I received a email from Vince saying how nice they were. After planting I discovered they were plants were in smaller pots and upsize into a larger pot. Halve of the pot were just dirt it was hard to keep the root ball in tact. I had discussed with Vince prior to the pickup what would happen if I did not like them . He said 40% restocking fee. So I felt I had to take them. Hard plant to get. Bottom line there nursery is nice if you buy what you see. The plants material is nice. They have no control over there supplier. The supply sent them substandard material. I email Vince about the issue with no response. I hope they survive. I had a horticulture company so I know what I taking about. Maybe after reading this this he will respond. read more
