If you're feeling adventurous, and love bacon you should take the scenic ride and check out Hickory Hill Smokehouse The pepper garlic bacon really is the best bacon I've ever had, I really didn't think it was possible but Hickory Hill found a way to make bacon that's better than bacon!! And the jalapeño meat sticks are totally worth it! We buy a few packs and freeze them. They also make sausage, kielbasa, liver worst, smoked hams, smoked cheese curd, smoked blue cheese. They sell grass fed beef as well. The owners are so friendly this is such a great local small business. They're offering call ahead curbside pickup, check out their Facebook pathis place is a hidden gem for sure 5/23/20 update: For as long as I can remember, White Eagle hot dogs were the best. I was wrong! Hickory Hill Smokehouse jalapeño cheddar hotdogs are hands down the best hotdog I've ever had. They're spicy and snappy. If you haven't been to Hickory Hill, it's definitely worth the ride to check them out.

Very nice family owned small town local business meat and wild game shop to get your hunting game turned into hot dogs, sausages snack sticks and more. The nice thing about here is it is not community meat, the meat you drop off is your meat in the hotdogs when you pick it up which is very appealing. I brought venison to the shop to get turned into cheese hotdogs. When I picked up my order everything was very professionally vacuumed sealed and each individual hotdog package had very clear information and labeling. You may end up getting more final product than originally quoted but the family ownership is great and flexible to work with when it comes to scheduling drop off, delivery and price point. Overall, I think the quality of the product for the little higher price point is worth it and to support a local business.

This time we brought another couple of friends with us and ordered a full platter. It was served up in a matter of minutes and it incredibly completely filled three platters with assorted barbecue, including a full rack of ribs, pulled pork, sliced turkey, a quarter chicken and bratwurst, not to mention sliced pickles and rolls. Of course we selected three sides to come with it (which were included): a nice smoked potato salad, cider coleslaw, and cider braised sautéed greens. We added two homemade sauces, peach chipotle and applejack. Well the ribs were smoked using applewood and were so tender the meat fell off the bone. Everything was delicious and the sauces were superb which came as no surprise since they were made using fruit from the restaurant's adjoining farm. To wash it down we ordered an apple cider slushy which was thick with flavor. Again, no surprise, as there is an apple orchard on the farm. We were so stuffed that we joyfully took about half of the food home with us! I've enjoyed barbecue for a number of decades, including down in Memphis, and I must say that this no-frills restaurant with outdoor and indoor picnic table seating can play in the same league as some of the more renowned barbecue joints, certainly in the Capital and Hudson Valley regions. Come see yourself and while you're at it, check out an amazing distillery next-door as well as the wonderful adjoining farmstand (cider doughnuts!).

We ordered a half rack of ribs to split, waiting about 15-minutes for our name to be called (too long for two people frothing at the mouth for it). The ribs came undressed, but you could help yourself to as much sauce as you like at the counter. We tried both the apple and chipotle sauces, preferring the former, which was sweet and smokey. It paired perfectly with the tender, fatty ribs. When I think back on it as I am right now, I salivate. My husband also ordered their brisket sandwich (available only on Sundays), which looked just as appetizing as the ribs. The meat was cooked wonderfully medium rare with a charred exterior and a slightly pink interior. My husband ate that heartily. It was one of our favorite bites of the trip. I'm envious of my past self for enjoying that meal while I sit here now, craving it but unable to have it again.

The brisket was perfectly smoked, juicy, and packed with flavor. The pulled pork was tender and delicious, and the fire sausage had just the right amount of heat without overpowering the smoky goodness. The potato salad was fresh and flavorful, and the mac & cheese was rich, creamy, and the perfect side to complete the meal. Great food, generous portions, and friendly service. You can tell they put a lot of pride into what they do. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the Catskills. Highly recommended!

You order at the register and take your very large portioned plates wherever you'd like to sit. There are quite a few baked goods right at the register which looked great but I restrained myself, this time. I ordered the 4 rib platter which came with two sides. I got the mac & cheese and pickled beets. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and had good flavor. They give you a side of BBQ sauce in case you wanted some. The mac & cheese seemed like it was baked which is a plus for me. The only drawback is that it needed a little more flavor. Maybe a sharper, more flavorful cheese would help. I just put some salt and pepper on it and that helped a ton. The pickled beets were as expected - and I love beets! The platter also comes with a mini cornbread LOAF! Seriously, it's a good size mini. It was delicious, slightly sweet, and contained corn kernels. Also, a side of sliced pickles come with the platter and any sandwich. We were warned that they were spicy today and that was the truth! It was a bit over $40 for so much good food. We had to box up some of the food and it can definitely feed another person. Also, service was friendly and fast. I'd come back to try more items - probably including one of those baked goods :)
