Stopped in for lunch. We ordered several items and just picked at them. Nothing tasted smoked or bbq for that matter. Tasted frozen or poorly reheated at the least. Always want to give smaller spots a try or high light something that was good but it just didn't happen here. Pretty rough.

All right y'all - I forgot to take a pic of my plate before I dug in. This is the "Chop Plate".

She is totally awesome Love that the pours are 4 oz and up so for lunch it's perfect and cans to go for later. The paintings on the wall add to decor along with the menu selections labeled per a dog's name. Crab Cake Sandwich with Creole soup and Chicken Sandwich with Potato Salad side were both excellent choices. Beer choices tasters of Raspberry Sourpuss and Loganberry Sourpuss. German Pils and a 276 Lager. We split the Strawberry Lemonade White Paws 5% abv and it was better than a dessert as an after lunch treat. Needless to say that will coming home as an after outside work project drink.

I asked for a Medium burger and it seemed more Medium-Well to me. I'm usually not a stickler for such things but the burger tasted a bit dry to me. I think I waited around 25 to 30 minutes for the meal after ordering and that's after waiting maybe 10 to 15 minutes to place the order. If they had appeared very busy, I would have maybe understood, but it seemed like a rather slow night. The burger did taste good but I think it may have been sitting for a bit as it was less than hot. Based on first impressions, I'm not sure if I would return. Maybe.

Located inside the Bolling Wilson hotel on the ground floor, in the front left corner of the building as you walk in from the street front. An updated traditional small interior, with lots of seating outside both on the porch and side patio. We were greeted walking in and opted to sit on the front porch since it was a nice afternoon the day of our visit. Service is professional, kind and attentive. Our server was prompt with our drink orders, appetizer and entrees, and checked on us enough without being overly intrusive. We enjoyed a leisurely meal in a beautiful setting. Starting with the Griddled Focaccia eith balsamic reduction drizzle. A great starter, simple, well prepared and delicious. I opted for the Mustard grilled Pork Chop with a Devils backbone Lager. The chop was nicely prepared but a little overcooked (dry) not bad but still overcooked. Good flavor and a nice presentation, however it was dry which made it tough to cut. The flavor and the sauce made it palatable though, just wish it had been tender and not dry. 4 Stars - All in all, still a decent meal with great service in a nice comfortable locale. 01236

The retro "Frozen in Time" theme is so quaint, inviting, and fun! I absolutely love 50's and 60's music, cars, and soda/ice cream shops and their theme blends all of these! The sever was easy to work with, and the food came out fairly quickly! The burgers were tasty, and the French fries were good- the fries just needed a little salt. The menus on the TVs show videos of them making the burgers, ice cream, and sundaes which is super cool and even more interactive than a still photo! There are cute wall decals all around the restaurant that add to the oldies ambiance; retro diner servers, jukebox ice cream menus, old fashioned cars, and a few more! The ice cream counter seating is accented with checkerboard details, as is the ordering and serving station. The pricing was fair, too! Overall, we truly enjoyed our visit to Burger Haven! When we come back, we'd love to order a hot dog with kraut and a sundae- maybe a bubble cone ice cream, too! We will definitely be returning to this sweet little nostalgic escape with great food!

The family and I were on an adventure, heading up to Niagara Falls. I was using my trusty Yelp app to try to find a cool lunch spot. I saw Skeeter's, and knew we had to try it. So we jumped off the interstate, and wound our way down to the quaint downtown of Wytheville. It's a beautiful little town, and also the birthplace of Edith Boling Wilson, wife of President Woodrow Wilson. So we rolled into town and spotted Skeeter's nostalgic brick corner building. Very cool looking, and fitting for the 101 year old business. Alas, we got out of the car and excitedly walked up to the door,,, to find a CLOSED sign. We looked through the window, and could tell that we were missing something special. So we walked down to the street to a pizza place, and had a less than stellar lunch. Actually, it was just bad. So, went went off on our Niagara adventure, and a few days later we were heading home. It was nearing lunchtime, and we saw the sign for Wytheville. My wife said, why don't we try Skeeter's again. I called to make sure they were open, and we hit the streets of Wytheville again. We found a table at Skeeter's and started looking over the menu. They have plenty to offer besides hot dogs, but we had to try these world famous dogs. My wife and son got the regular "red weiner" dogs with fries. I had to go for the big 1/4 pound Black Angus dog. I was happy to find that they were in the process of changing their store over from Pepsi to Coke! As I said up at the top of this review, Skeeter's certainly lived up to the World Famous Hot Dog moniker! My big Black Angus dog was so good, that I had to order a second one! I think I can safely say, that if Skeeter's had been open on our way north, we would have still stopped on the way back, to enjoy it again! We found nothing bad to say about Skeeter's. The atmosphere, the decor, the food, the prices, the staff... all were absolutely wonderful! This is the kind of small town, hidden gem, that I love to find in my travels! We'll be back!

It's in this really charming historic building (apparently where First Lady Edith Wilson was born), and the whole place has that nostalgic mid-1900s vibe that just feels cozy and fun. Super cute spot. Our waitress was also really friendly and made us feel welcome right away, which always makes a difference. That said... the food itself was just kind of average. The hot dogs and fries weren't bad at all, just nothing that really stood out. For a place that's been around for over 100 years, I guess I was expecting something a little more memorable. It ended up tasting like something I could grab at a random country gas station. Overall, I'm glad we stopped in for the atmosphere and history, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for the food alone.
