We visited Randall Residence looking for memory care for my Father-In-Law at the suggestion of his…read moreneurologist who had been treating him for Alzheimer's for two years and was in the process of revoking his driving privileges. My FIL was willing to move in. We agreed to go on the waiting list that was at least a month long. Within a couple of days word came that there was an opening that we decided to take. This required an evaluation and we were pressured to do it right away so that there was time for an in person evaluation and to retrieve his medical records! If he was in before next Friday he could even avoid the price increase! My wife had to take off work with an hour's notice - it couldn't be scheduled for tomorrow. If you have ever been in the finance office of a car dealership you will have a pretty good picture of what it was like. Anyway the "evaluation" proceeded. Over the course of about 30 minutes the nurses asked him if he needed help doing a bunch of things like bathing and taking his own medicine. He gave an unwavering no to all of these. He didn't need help doing anything. Of course my wife expressed her concern at these answers after the evaluation. The Randall nurses wanted to get records from the GP and neurologist and they would make their evaluation. My wife called the doctors' offices and prepped them to provide the records - there wasn't time to waste. The evaluation came back in a couple days. Good news! He qualified for Independent Living! It's way cheaper! Of course this was still a concern to my wife but she was reassured by the marketing director that it would be easy to transfer to more care if it proved necessary. And again there was that price increase coming and the $1000 initiation fee doesn't need to be paid again to move to the higher levels of care. So we moved him in. A couple days worth of confusion but he was someplace where he didn't need to drive and he liked the food and activities. My wife continued to take him to doctor appointments visiting both the GP and neurologist in the first week he lived at Randall. When asked about providing the records to Randall neither office had records or recollections of any inquiry besides the heads up they got her. Fast forward a couple weeks and my wife got a call on Monday morning from Randall saying that he needed to go to the hospital. To the psych ward. For memory care we asked? No the psychiatric floor. They were looking into finding him a bed anywhere within an hours drive. He was going to need to be evaluated for at least a couple of weeks. So my wife meets with the marketing director to find out what is going on. Apparently he had taken food off of someone else's plate! And then he tried to open the door to the wrong apartment! He NEEDS memory care and they just couldn't accommodate him. They wanted him in a different facility and the sooner the better. It was that or they were going to send him to the psych ward. We moved him on Thursday. So in less than 30 days he was in and out of Randall. He was out the $1000 initiation fee. We were out the effort to move him twice and he was confused about what he had done wrong. "But I like it here?!" A place that was supposed to help and support us and make dealing with Alzheimer's easier had made it worse. I don't know if it was fraud or incompetence that led him to be evaluated as "independent" but neither is a good look. We did have friends mention to us that the seemingly incongruous psych ward recommendation is a tool used to evict patients. Google "patient dumping psych ward". Another reviewer had the same issue. Finally, you should be cautious of putting much weight on the reviews available here or on Randall's web site. While getting ready to write this review I noticed at least 5 (of about twenty) that were posted by employees from cooks to the executive director. There was even one on Randall's own web site from the marketing director's ex-husband. If they are willing to compromise their integrity for a review how can they be trusted to care for your loved one?

Marine in the Vietnam War, was an encouraging meeting. The Director said that the staff would work with him to "get him off the Hoya Lift". That's what I needed to hear that there was a place in Decatur where my husband might be able to use a Walker again, with assistance. Several CNA s and the physical therapist gave him loving attention and in a couple of months he was able to use the walker with a gait belt assistance. A miracle! I chose to live with my husband so I saw everything that occurs, even at night. No place is perfect but Lincolnshire Place comes close to it and we had lived in 3 other assisted living/ memory care places in the general area. We are Vegetarians and the chef and kitchen staff worked to accommodate our needs and were always open to suggestions. Every apartment has beautiful views of Nature....pine trees on one side, the lovely courtyard on another side, and the amazing corn field on the side we lived on where we watched the corn grow taller everyday. I walked him with his wheelchair alongside the corn field after every meal. We moved to Tennessee in October to an assisted living residence. My husband passed away peacefully there in mid December. I'm moving on to the ISHA Yoga Center where he and I had planned to move around this time until his health declined. Lincolnshire Place was the last facility he and I lived in before we moved to Tennessee and I'm very appreciative that we discovered LSP before we moved away from Decatur, IL

We could not have asked for more loving caregivers. Mom was in the hospital and we ultimately decided to let go. She was allowed to return to Lincolnshire in hospice care and die with dignity and privacy with our family there. During her three years, staff responded to every request from helping her with confusion over the television to hunting down her newspaper. I never saw a resident with food or stained clothing, or who was unclean. The staff treated my mom like their grandma. I would recommend it to anyone.

In 2021 she was robbed by a staff person in the middle of the night while she slept. She never recovered from the violation & fear she felt from someone stealing her purse in the seat of her walker right next to her bed as she slept. My mom quit eating according to resident friends. I was told she no longer felt safe in her home. My mother died shortly after. The staff did nothing but express they were sorry it happened. No in house investigation or action taken was known to be done. It destroyed my mom's ability to feel safe again. Whoever violated my mother did irreversible harm that led to her never recovering. I live in another state, was never informed by anyone, and was only told by my mother what happened & her friends after she passed. Due to the administrative lack of concern I do not recommend this facility to anyone.

Then the slamming doors all night long and people running up, and down stairs, and the smell of weed all the time when I walk out the door inside and out. The hallways are dirty, there is trash thrown all over outside, its an eyesore, and I still cant have have any visitors over due to the nasty smell of weed and whatever else. Then people speed through the cul du sac like a nascar racetrack and even in the parking lots with no regard to others and its horrible. I get odors of weed, vape, and whatever else coming through my heating vents, and this complex was once nice in the late 90s I cant say that now its gone wayyy downhill and I thought this would be better than were I used to live. Its becoming that or worse. I also pay for a parking spot but the lot is so narrow and needs repaving, and other people continue to park there anyway for the last 4+ years. Then people mess with your car or go through it, as the lighting out here is poor and its not safe to go out at night. I have an older car and it looks like someone has taken a knife to the paint of it and on the rubber of passenger side of the car. I've also had it gone through more than once and there is nothing of value, but still my car freezes when its below zero or extreme cold, so this is really frustrating. I've been with this company for 12+ years and it does not seem like they take care of their complexes like they did before and that's a shame. The office staff is nice, but its a shame that this so called great location is anything but on the inside & outside.... I still have leaves from last fall near my window, numerous trash trash outside my window near the over grown trees, and its an eyesore to bring anyone here to visit in fact I don't... Its an embarrassment
