But what begs an update is the change in Uber pick-ups which makes literally no sense to anyone that lands here. Don't go outside of baggage like I did (this is where passenger pick-up is, so if your friend or family is picking you up, still go out here). This is of course the way it is in most civilized airports. No, it's on the UPPER level. Where arrivals are. By the time I figured this out, my uber driver was frantic because the airport traffic people were threatening all kinds of action on her. As we were messaging each other I was trying to get to the upper level but all the damn escalators were being fixed, so I had to wait for an elevator. All of this could have been avoided if there were clear signs indicating that ride share pick-ups are upstairs. Clearly this kind of mistake is common. Get it together CLT.

Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to assist us with hotel recommendations and local information. The terminal itself was spotless and well-maintained. They have private pilot lounges, a snack bar, and even ice cream, which was a nice surprise after the flight! The airport is also just a short Uber ride from downtown Greenville, making it very convenient. The only downside was that the 100LL fuel was a bit on the expensive side. Other than that, everything exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be back the next time we're flying through the area. Highly recommend Cerulean Aviation!

This spot was a secret place that a TSA agent made us aware of. This agent was so friendly and helpful cannot thank her enough. We did have to go back out through security to reach this oasis but going back through TSA was so quick and easy. The airport also, had a lovely art exhibit in our terminal which was nice as well. Don't care to get stuck again but if I have to fly through this Airport I am onboard.

They've prepared for some level of traffic that is one day sure to come, but generally they sit relatively empty and waiting. Businesses are flocking to the so-called "Carolina Core" and it's only a matter of time, I think, before they even started expanding. Until then, this one-terminal airport is a breeze. You can walk from security down the singular corridor, and back, in a matter of minutes. It feels homely, warm, and inviting. There's free WiFi and ample seating so that you won't regret thinking you have to arrive an hour early to this airport. I even somewhat regret paying for TSA precheck because it has so far been pointless for my several trips out of GSO. The parking situation outside the airport is also practically flawless. You can park quite close to the terminal for $10/day or snag an Uber that will get you here and back in a breeze. Similarly to the airport itself, car traffic in the vicinity is also nearly non-existent. All in all, it makes the Triad and even more inviting and livable region.

I will start with the destination, this being the Tri-Cities Airport. This airport is a kind of quad-state airport as it serves Tennessee obviously being in Tennessee, but it's also close to the state borders of Virginia, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Kind of like how my current home airport serves both Connecticut and Massachusetts. It's also a very small airport. My dad seems to like it and so I imagine I will see this airport again, but whether or not I agree with him still has yet to be determined. This airport has just one terminal with 7 gates. Of those 7, maybe like 4 get used. The planes they had me get in were way too small for my height as I am over 6-feet tall. It makes flight super hard to sit through if I happen to have a pinched nerve on my shoulder that day. Really, those are my big knocks on this airport. I do have plenty positives to say about this though. The airport staff is friendly. Even TSA don't seem like heartless evil jerks. Also, because it's so small, TSA is actually a breeze to get through here and you can navigate this place really easily because of how straightforward it is. The interior looks nice as it looks like it had been redone in recent years. It's also not a crowded place which is good. Baggage claim isn't too bad, but because of how small the airport is, you kind of have to guess where your luggage is coming from. Also, for a small airport, parking can get really overcrowded at times, but any least the parking staff was nice. Bathrooms were okay too. At the end of the day, I think a 3 is the right rating. Does enough to function, but it's not built for the bigger planes that I would need.

I am a huge fan of small airports, but the service and physical space issues I had at AVL knock…read morethem down a star. Firstly, the airport is doing some major construction and the walkway between the arrival terminal and baggage claim is scaffolded. There were construction workers using leaf blowers to blow dust around (toward the pedestrian walkway) both times I flew through AVL this year. Because of construction arriving passenger pick up is quite crowded and disorganized, so just hope for the best until construction ends. There's not a long going on in here once you're through security - a bar, a coffee shop, a Jimmy John's and a "smoothie cafe". Nothing was open either time I flew through here, so probably plan to BYO everything for feeding yourself in this airport to your destination or connection. My service issues were disability boarding related. I have an "invisible" disability that requires more time to board the plane and I always preboard with United. While this specific issue may not be owned by the airport (gate agents are typically employed by the airline), but happened in the airport and is relevant enough to all travelers that I do want to share here. Security was fine, and Pre-Check was just as fast as any other small airport. Through in 5 minutes or less. At boarding, however, despite wearing my sunflower lanyard, the gate agents saw no wheelchairs and skipped disability preboarding altogether. If this happened once I'd let it go, but it happened repeatedly at AVL. I have flown through dozens of even smaller airports than AVL that do disability preboarding correctly. AVL United gate agents do not. AVL is almost impossible to get to/from without a rideshare, rental car, or someone picking you up. I did successfully use transit to get to Asheville downtown from AVL, but I got lucky on the timing with my check bag coming out in time to catch the bus with 5min to spare. The buses only run between the airport and downtown every 90 minutes, which means too infrequently for airport employees to rely on transit to come to work. There is also a hotel across the street for those with morning flights, but the construction fencing is situated such that it didn't feel super safe to walk from the hotel to the airport 100 yards away.

It has 2 different age appropriate playground areas, a huge covered picnic table area, a "runway" path for bike riding, and a seating area to watch planes. The only complaint about this park is that there is no restroom. Only a port a potty. You can rent the picnic area for parties, but the amount is exorbitant, considering none of your guests will have a restroom. This park is definitely one of Greenville's best kept secrets. Just pee before you go.
