While I give this spot 5 stars for checking the "once in a lifetime" box, I really wish they would preserve this place a bit more. Katniss' house (building #16) was home to miscellaneous christmas decorations, random tools, and a birds nest. Also, it was so dark in there we had to get a flashlight out of our car. Genuinely, I would have loved to see this house as a close to movie accurate as possible, or even decorated with photos from the film featuring the location. I think this house would have been awesome as a mini museum (with replicated furniture, not actual movie pieces of course). I think this would bring in a lot of fans and spark up a lot of social media tourism with the new movie coming out. Now is the time! Again, absolutely awesome to see for any Hunger Games fan.

We came across Catawba Farms/Winery and stayed at The Peacock Inn (B&B). We were a little early checking in and was greeted by Tammy who gave us a fabulous informative wine tasting. We had a bite to eat at the food truck onsite and then ventured the farm. We met the beautiful peacocks (which my husband fed them!!), Zonkey, pigs, goats, Major the horse and the sweet dogs. We can't say enough about the owners Dennis, Twyla and Michael who we spent time with and expressed wonderful stories about their journeys. These guys also have a local wine bar that we went too in the evening. You have to go with an open mind and expect very chill and relaxation playing board games and chatting with guests. At first, I thought it would be like other B&Bs we've stayed at in times past: a Victorian house with many guests, packaged snacks and a packaged breakfast from a microwave. I. Was. Wrong. The owners, Patricia and Ralph, greeted us upon arrival ready to take our bags from the car. (We packed light, so there was no need). We were given an in-depth tour of the house along with the histor; it is an incredible story. The B&B is very spacious and cozy throughout the house. There is plenty of room for you to relax, stretch out, read a book in solitude or lounge. We stayed in the Hickory room which was very clean and comfortable. Sweet Tea B&B has a well stocked pantry if you have a craving for something. To end the visit, Ralph made homemade eclairs, blueberry muffins and French toast (bread was homemade too). This is as traditional as a B&B gets. Patricia and Ralph are incredible hosts. They take hosting to an unbeatable level with impeccable detail to every part of your stay. I stay at all types of lodging from five star hotel complexes to some really sketchy B&B, AirB&B, and a few time I have couch surfed since a town was totally booked for the night. So when I travel overnight for myself, lodging must be excellent. If I am in the Lincolnton area that is a simple choice. The White Rose Manner! Allison and John are attentive hosts, all to willing to assist in making your stay what you need it to be. Allison is an accomplished cook that can accommodate your dietary needs if she is made aware. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. I tend, if there in the early evening, to play a game of chess with John, who also is an accomplished D&D dungeon master. Conversation is always pleasant, the grounds take you away from traffic, PowerPoint presentations and if you choose to turn it off (I do) cell phone calls. I arrive, get to relax in a wonderful environment, take care of what brought me to the area, then relax some more. You can find me some weekends in a chair by the fireplace, with an adult beverage lost in the thoughts deep and emotionally satisfying a result of the environment created by the hosts. A large seating area with an umbrella, outdoor grill with patio table and chairs, fire pit with Adirondack chairs, sturdy seating by the creek that runs along beside the property and another set of chairs by the creek.
