My cats are newer patients here, but by far the best vet I've ever taken them to. I was so shocked by the negative reviews. Everyone you encounter is always so friendly, they get you in fast at your appointment time, and the vet is very thorough and informative! They send plenty of reminders when it's time for a visit or vaccines. In the end the prices aren't the worst I've seen either. They even offer complimentary nail trims on visits which is super helpful as our cats aren't a fan. This will definitely be our life long vet! read more

My wife called to make an appointment with this vet and was told that she needed to give a deposit of $70 before she would be allowed to make an appointment. No deposit, no appointment. So, of course, she gave the vet her credit card number. Not only did we have a sick cat, but my wife was also ill at the time. As it turned out, the day she was supposed to bring the cat in, my wife was admitted to the hospital. After being released from the hospital, she called the vet and asked about the deposit. Was it refundable?Could she use it toward another visit? The answer : sorry, no refund and the deposit can't be used toward another visit. My wife has been rescuing stray and sick cats for over 30 years. We have spent thousands of dollars keeping these animals healthy and happy. But we wont' spend another penny with this vet. Had to leave when the customer service became nearly non existant. They screwed up our dogs records and want us to pay for the labs to fix, are rude on the telephone, and the vet wants to actually question my love for my dog when ive payed this lady over 10,000 to keep him alive so far. With my last dog, she convinced me to do a ton of surgeries totaling over 2000$ about a week before she decided it was best to put my dog down. She'll get every penny out of you she can. Strongly recommend against this place. read more

My 16 year old cat was sick so I brought her in to see Dr. Slaughter. She personally called me to tell me the plan of action and to come back later to pick up my cat. When I returned, she personally called me to tell me information I needed to keep my cat comfortable. Unfortunately she called the next day with blood work results and I decided to have my cat euthanized. Dr. Slaughter suggested I spend the weekend with my cat and return the following Monday. Unfortunately my cat had to be euthanized sooner over the weekend at a nearby pet ER. Dr. Slaughter called my during the same weekend to give her condolences. This morning my 9 week old puppy was acting very strange, very lethargic, barely could move or keep his eyes open so I brought him here basically right when they opened with my puppy and before I could even explain what was going on I was interrupted by the receptionist and was told they couldn't see him without even getting up from her chair to ask the vet. First off, your an veterinary animal hospital shouldn't you be able to accommodate walk in emergencies??? I DO NOT recommend this place if you have ANY sort of emergency or want or need any KINDESS or COMPASSION. Never again will I go there or recommend this place, very sad. read more

Dr. Slaughter and her staff are AMAZING! I was visiting family in Dartmouth when my cat diabetic cat stopped eating. I had taken him to the emergency vet for care and found very little compassion. They sent him home with meds but he stopped eating again, had a difficult few days, and it was clear that it was time to put him to rest. I called Dr. Slaughter and she moved everything to accommodate us. When Dr. Slaughter came into the exam room, the first thing she did was look me in the eyes and said "you are doing the right thing". I really needed to hear that. She understood how difficult it was for me. She didn't rush anything and, when it was over, she, her tech, and the receptionist were all crying. I tried them once when I moved to the area. I found them to be expensive. I have pet insurance for me dogs. After one visit, I had already issues with the people who worked there. I asked them to fill out the insurance form and send it to the insurance company. The insurance company told me they didn't fill it out correctly. And so I asked the vet nicely to redo it and fax it over again. And they tried to make me come in and send it myself when all they needed to do was attach the invoice of the visit and fax it again. And they were rude when I said I wouldn't come in because of my busy work schedule l, and I couldn't understand why they wouldn't just do it themselves. The lady who I spoke to was rude after that and said I hope you don't come back. I was very disappointed that after one visit I had bad service. read more

I first want to give credit where credit is due. Doctor slaughter is a very competent vet. She has cards all over her office along with pictures and stories of wild injured animals that she nursed back to health. The receptionist ,which happens to be her daughter has told me the office is equipped with a full surgical clinic in the back room. I have been bringing my two dogs to her for approx a year. Thankfully they have only needed basic check ups and vaccines, until tonight. My smaller dog had suddenly become weak and lethargic after a trip to the beach. I called hidden brook and explained the symptoms at which time they agreed it sounded like he ingested poison. The receptionist told me to come in an hour Later. I didn't go anywhere else because they are all about an hour drive. Thirty mins after I hang up with them , they call back and say they are behind schedule and have clients waiting! She could tell I was upset so began to say it sounds serious and she may not be equipped to handle the problem. My dog had already been waiting thirty mins! I feel like dr slaughter would be wonderful if she not only wanted the easy peasy money (vaccines , wellness checks). My dog was her client and she knew him better then anyone else. She turned him away. My dog ended up going to New England vet hospital and even they couldn't believe he was turned away. I'm glad he is okay. I think New England will be his new vet. read more

The previous review is spot on. Criticism not allowed. If you don't mind dealing with a condescending attitude, she's competent. But when dealing with your sick animal, you want someone who can at least act compassionate. Otherwise, you might find yourself being criticized on FB. read more

I have been going here for years and truly love everyone that works here. Dr. Slaughter is incredible and always there when you need her. I had a terrible accident w my first cocker spaniel and she and entire staff was there to help and comfort me like no other. My review is based on the first visit here and how my dog is already improving. I am not a fan of this office not having evening hours, but, they did take me in rather quick. I read some of the other reviews, and as far as emergencies, I hate to be the bearer of bad news: usually one always needs to go to an Emergency Vet anyway. The locals cannot handle many of the emergencies - just like humans must go to a hospital and not their doctor's office. Dr Carreiro who assisted my dog, was calm and thorough, she did not look to have many exams, labs and such,,,she treated just what I went there for. Many other vets, if it is the pet's first time, they want to "run" everything, rather than approaching the malady that presents at the visit. So, I appreciated that. And after trying other vets, for my dog's skin condition, I must say, my dog presents signs of on the road to recovery. The price is the normal around...not much difference...I actually found it a little cheaper for what was done. read more

Such a pretty name for a vet office in a shopping strip. Let me copy and paste what I put on their facebook. If you need a REAL vet they can refer you to one! We live blocks away and our cat is suddenly very ill. Called this morning and explained the situation, got an appointment for HOURS later (which was a process as the receptionist wasn't easy to talk with). Our favorite cat vet left the area and the second one we like is 30mins away (hindsight we should have called them, at least they'd say to bring the cat asap). During a ten minute vet check, was told to take him to an urgent care vet in Swansea (no worries they have brochures in the lobby for them) because she can't do anything for him and he needs oxygen. Was talked down to and despite being a person who has spent tens of thousands on animals (not exaggerating), when she saw that it was a rescue on the only paperwork I had on him, it seemed to add to an attitude. Again, ten minute visit and a $70bill for being told by a vet to take my cat to a vet. To follow up, this review was removed from their FB page and recently a comment painting Slaughter as a patron saint was posted. Stating such things as "stabilized a critically ill animal". When she wouldn't even give my cat Oxygen. Obviously this is someone who can't deal with criticism and goes the extra length to hide truth. As she repeatedly emailed me from her personal account on Facebook. A bit more...my cat was on his third day of not eating (same activity level though) and that morning started to breathe with more labor. Prompting an emergency visit to the Vet. Our cat Vet was unavailable and the office is a bit of a drive away. It was a struggle to get him in the carrier and at the office he was mouth breathing (critical sign) because of his anxiety. They were told on the phone of his situation and instead of referring us to a vet that can do something they chose to make a buck and waste our time. He's been to a real Vet and they gave him Oxygen and removed fluid as well as put him on medications. THAT was money well spent!! Time well invested! read more

Five stars is rarely a rating I give anything but Hidden Brook deserves every one of them. I have taken both my cats there unfortunately for one it was to be put down. The staff made a terrible time a time to let go humanely with love and stories even a little laughter. My surviving cat gets more kisses from the Donna and Doc Slaughter than he gets at home! My mother had taken our dog to this vet last week. What a great experience! Prior to visiting the vet, our dog has been peeing blood and peeing throughout the house, which was unlike her. This place is so awesome best decision we made with our babies. Our dogs are part of our family I wouldn't bring my daughter to just any doctor so let's not with our animals. Dr. Slaughter and her staff are amazing. I called her yesterday with an emergency with my baby and she took her right in let me tell you she was so busy but cared for my baby no matter what. I brought my peewee to her for a serious surgery wow I'm so happy he is doing so well. Not only that but they kept calling to see how he was doing. Just want to say I brought my baby in yesterday because she wasn't eating drinking walking sleeping she wasn't doing anything at all. I'm so happy to say that dr. Slaughter didn't rush with her she took a few hours but I'm happy she didn't just send her on our way she checked everything everything I'm so happy to say my baby starting eating a few hours after leaving there. She did her best job and gave her meds love and full attention. She woke up today running and being back to my baby. Thank you so much dr. And the staff you guys are a blessing.
