    Sophie , the client dog

Pleasant environment . Very helpful front desk and tech people. Clearly explained process from the moment I walked in. Taken in a very timely manner. Very communicative Dr. and phone call follow up after procedure taking time to explain and answer all questions. I've had to use this emergency twice for two different dogs today and three years ago. Nothing has changed, same small personal help in a tough time. The availability to get help when needed was easy ! Couldn't get into any emergency places twice NEAR MY HOME and this place is a GEM

    Chloe is better days

I called about my dog, said come right down, was in the triage room within 10 minutes. Unfortunately my dog was in bad shape, the Dr reviewed several options. It was decided to give her one more night to see if she improved. This gave me 1 more night to spoil my dog and give her a proper goodbye. The staff was very empathetic to my situation.

It did take some time for things to get moving once we arrived, almost two hours before X-rays were done maybe because it was a busier night...but once they discovered it was a bowel obstruction, everything began to move quickly. The doctors were very clear and informative, walking us through the situation and treatment plan. I really appreciate their transparency about costs and payment. They don't offer payment plans or financial support, but they make everything clear up front and require a deposit so there are no surprises. Every staff member we interacted with was compassionate, professional, and knowledgeable, which made a stressful situation easier to handle. While no one ever wants to be in an emergency vet situation, we're grateful Bay State is close to home and will definitely be our go-to emergency vet moving forward. Bonus points for the multiple phone call and email updates through out her stay in the hospital, and even after the surgery they are available to answer questions while my regular vet is closed.

Dr. Binder took such a thoughtful and practical approach to her evaluation, carefully explaining each step along the way. She, along with the veterinary technicians, showed incredible compassion and genuine love for animals. Watching them get right down on the floor with our girl to comfort and examine her spoke volumes about the level of care they provide. A very special thank you to vet techs Emily and Juan, and to Dr. Binder. We are so grateful for the kindness, compassion, and outstanding care you gave both our girl and us. ‍ We would absolutely recommend VEG in Warwick to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care. Dr. Estes explained everything clearly--what was happening, the prognosis, and what we should do next. The techs / nurses--Kim Nguyen, Kendra Baker, and Jennifer Ducharme--were also wonderful: professional, patient, and very caring. They were attentive throughout the entire process while our Pomeranian was undergoing sedation, and you could tell they genuinely cared. I'm sure they see situations like this every day, but they still treated our dog with the attention and care he needed. Small things like that matter. They said I should bring her in but recommended waiting until shift change at 7-8am. Got there about 745 and she was taken right back. I was brought into a room and few minutes later the vet came in and said they'd done a physical exam already and asked me to explain why I was there. He said based on everything I said, he believed she had a brain tumor and we could do an MRI but the treatment would only manage symptoms which would get worse quickly and could include seizures, personality change and aggression. We made the difficult decision to help my baby pass on. They did not rush me and were super understanding. This is in response to "Business Manager Abby K's" response to my review on 5/20/26. Facts: We were trying to not name specific names in my initial review on 5/20/26 to protect the honest employees and give confidentiality. 1. Dr, Sweet said an infection could not have occurred so quickly during their care. Basically impossible as it takes more time for an infection to develop. Dr. Sweet was extremely kind and truthful. We appreciate his transparency to this day. 2. Dr. Sweet did not do the original surgery, but did the incision revision (2nd surgery) and said the reason the initial surgery/incision opened up was because instead of doing internal and external stitches from the initial surgery they only did internal stitches and external glue, which he said was not the proper method as the glue couldn't hold the incision closed because the incision was too big. 3. Ocean State Veterinary Specialists would never provide us with of any documentation of lab results showing any infection that supposedly occurred under their care, but they stated he had a very generic infection, which we believe was attempt to cover their mistake, as Dr. Sweet stated an infection couldn't have developed so quickly. 4. We've consulted with other experienced Vets since this matter, with all relevant information/photos/etc provided to them and they all confirm that our dog was mishandled. We very much appreciate Dr, Sweet for fixing our dog and his transparency. He's a very honest and qualified surgeon. Unfortunately the hospital Dr Sweet works for is not. While we promptly paid the collection account in full as soon as it was posted, we will be seeking most importantly changes and also damages through legal channels regarding this matter. We are not looking for any monetary reward besides our lost time and expenses, but rather aiming for this institution to improve itself, not blame the public, admit when they've made a mistake and not defraud the public at the same time. It will cost us more unnecessary expense to see this through, but with most of our experience on camera in their own hospital with this event and just the moral aspect of doing the right thing for pets we will incur this expense on behalf of others that perhaps cannot afford it and more importantly, all our pets. Please go somewhere else in the meantime for the safely of your pet and research past court cases against this company. If you feel this response is in unfounded, I welcome direct contact for any questions.

They helped diagnose my beloved cat Achilles with a shockingly advanced cancer. It took multiple tests and procedures in under 24-hours, and they had to deliver a result no one wants to hear. Throughout the process the staff treated me and my cat with such care and dignity. After the initial x-rays, the head vet took the time to acknowledge how painful and shocking it was. Every member of their staff was so genuine. One of the nurses told me she loved that my cat had a mix of black and pink toe pads. Another shared stories of the puppy who would be the last overnight neighbor my cat had. When we went to say goodbye to Achilles, he had a pink paint mark on his forehead that another staff member explained was lipstick from an overnight nurse who kisses all her patients. Our euthanasia nurse made him a plate of cheese, mousse pate, and little crunch treats before he had to go. I am so glad he was so loved in his last hours. Was it expensive, yes. There's a wider conversation here about prices that staff don't set themselves, and pet care in America. But for anyone in dire straits with a pet that needs help, no one here judged me. But it doesn't take away from the actual physical experience during our visit. This said, they take constructive and compassionate feedback with an open heart. They recognize there needs to be improvements to the customer experience, while still protecting their employees from customers that lack and amount of human politeness and can be aggressively rude and threatening. Whereas I didn't experience that during this visit, I am well aware that there are humans that are less than humane when it comes to treating other humans. No amount of pain for our pet does not justify behaving unkindly to the staff that goes out of their way, overworked, understaffed and more than likely underpaid, to care for you beloved companion. Many people don't understand either that the venture capital greedy monopoly veterinarian care system puts enormous pressure on veterinary care to sell services and control the out of control emotional costs for care that is not necessarily covered by pet care (and is worse if you don't have it). It is EXPENSIVE. And coverage leaves a lot to the imagination. Pet ownership comes with many caveats and that is one of them. But that is NOT THE EMPLOYEES at the front, fault. They DONT set the cost. They DONT set the standard for care or the protocols. They are there to greet you, tend to you baby, take the payment and dispense the medication the VET sends to the pharma. I have no doubt that with their attention to Customer and Client experience, they will figure it out! In the meantime, thank GOODNESS, our Lulu is getting better every day! She was throwing up, gasping for air, losing control of her bowels, and her eyes appeared slightly bulged. I was terrified and had no idea what to do. I called 311, searched for nearby emergency vets, and came across Veg ER for Pets. When I called, I explained my cat's condition, and they immediately urged me to bring her in. I arrived around 2:00 a.m., and the staff greeted me right away and quickly began triaging my cat, Gia. Unfortunately, Gia was extremely ill, and her chances of survival were very slim. I ultimately made the heartbreaking decision to let her go peacefully. I want to give a huge acknowledgment to the Veg ER team for their compassion during one of the hardest moments of my life. Dr. Ciona and the nursing team Rachel, Geo, Kasey, Sophia, and Tracey worked together with such care and empathy. They made sure both Gia and I were as comfortable as possible, and they gave me the time I needed to be with her before saying goodbye. They let us in, we explained the situation, and they gave us two fair options - let the vet check it out and if they determine there is little hope for recovery, ethically euthanize it, or, if it does show signs of recovery after 30 min - 1 hr, they'd bring it to Boston Commons. We didn't have time to stick around for the final decision, but I do hope it did recover. The staff there was really friendly, thanked us for being good Samaritans, and had us fill out a form. They also did offer us complimentary snacks and beverages. I was satisfied with my unexpected visit here.
