I have been taking my dog to Spinnaker since the day we adopted her almost 10 years ago. I wouldn't trust any other vet. They are amazing

Lunig and I'm still just as pleased with the care my cats receive at this office.

Hello, my name is Saint. I was adopted from Miami 12/23. I'm 6 months old & living my best life…read morewith my new furever family Unfortunately, not only did my new family find out I was deaf 5 days later, I was also diagnosed with Ocular FIP 2/25/24. Luckily my mom was able to connect with Global FIP group on Facebook for amazing support & to get started on treatment 2/26. As time is not on my side with this deadly disease. We were also very lucky to be welcomed with open loving arms to Sylvans Animal Clinic. I just had my 1st of 6 rounds of CBC. My mom was very anxious about this with me being deaf there's no way to soothe me, until we walked through the door. The Doctor, technicians & receptionists were absolutely wonderful. They were ALL SO NICE & treated us both with such tender loving care. My mom & I couldn't be more happier with their services. Not to mention, I really loved & appreciated the comfort kisses on my head & neck while my blood was being drawn. Thats how my mom comforts me So we wanted to leave a much deserved AWESOME review in hopes to remind other pet parents out there, to be gentle & extra kind to the ones that are caring for our fur babies. On a side note....We were absolutely disgusted & felt really bad to watch a grown man before us yelling & being so disrespectful to ALL the (female) staff that were helping him. YOU BULLY!!! It took everything in me to keep my mouth shut. SHAME ON HIM!!!!! PLEASE REMEMBER to treat people how you want to be treated, especially if they are caring for your fur babies Thank you again Sylvan Animal Clinic

I'm honestly not sure what happened to this vet. At first, they were great. Now (the last 2/3…read moreyears) it's like they can't be bothered. You call to make an appointment and they don't have a vet dr! What vet doesn't have a veterinarian! They are rude on the phone and the big thing for me, they misdiagnosed my dog and now he's dead. I moved my other pets to a different vet because these people need to really get their s*it together. (And this started before covid hit!)

My 8-year-old Chihuahua passed away due to what I believe was the negligence of DVM Neirdeen Polis…read more My dog had a seizure disorder that was being successfully managed with medication. Two weeks ago, we took her to Dr. Polis's office for a medication adjustment. During that visit, Dr. Polis recommended and sold us a Seresto tick collar. Almost immediately after putting it on, my dog began showing adverse reactions. She eventually stopped eating and was barely drinking water. We were in daily contact with the office about her declining condition. On the day she died, Dr. Polis advised us to "give it another day." Later that same day, my daughters rushed her to a different animal hospital because she was barely moving and had lost control of her bowels. She passed away that day. The bottom line is that this collar should never have been recommended for my dog, especially given her existing seizure disorder. I hold Dr. Polis directly responsible for my dog's suffering and death.

I don't really know where to begin... the people were nice there, but I think it was because they…read moreknew they messed up and they didn't want a lawsuit on their hands. My seven month old kitten went in for a regular neuter and he ended up passing away a week later because of someone at the establishment intubating him wrong causing a hole in his trachea. He was there for over 6 hours and somehow they did not find out they caused this issue and it wasn't until he was home for not even an hour when I had to call another animal hospital for an emergency appointment because he was getting swollen all over and kept pacing. At other animal hospital/ER they took X-rays and saw his lung was collapsed caused from the hole in his trachea. He ended up needing to be transferred to another animal hospital that's open 24/7 so he can be watched at all times because his condition was so severe. This all happened on a Friday night and he came home Monday late afternoon. We had him home up until Friday when we reluctantly brought him back here to check on his stitches from his neutering. They told us he was in good shape and sent him on his way, until he wasn't even home for not even an hour when he started to get swollen again and not acting right. That's when we took him back to Somerset, and they told us that he might not make it and they'll continue to keep him comfortable.... Why tell us he's in good shape and now tell us he might not make it? I don't even know how long it was but my sweet baby ended up passing way on January 24th, 2025 (I am sorry for just writing this now). I understand that yes there are situations like this that happen, but they are RARE for a reason. This is not about money, they were nice enough to pay us in full for the ER visit and other animal hospital, and my family and I have no intentions to take legal actions, because what's the point? It's not gonna bring my cat back. I just wanted to share my story with Somerset Animal Hospital, because I do know people think very highly of this place but after all of this it has left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I usually don't go and review places but I thought this was needed. Thank you for reading. (Some things are left out because they're unclear and not as important, and this would be even longer).

During a stressful time, they answered our questions and explained his care clearly. The doctors and staff went above and beyond, showing expertise and genuine concern. It did take some time for things to get moving once we arrived, almost two hours before X-rays were done maybe because it was a busier night...but once they discovered it was a bowel obstruction, everything began to move quickly. The doctors were very clear and informative, walking us through the situation and treatment plan. I really appreciate their transparency about costs and payment. They don't offer payment plans or financial support, but they make everything clear up front and require a deposit so there are no surprises. Every staff member we interacted with was compassionate, professional, and knowledgeable, which made a stressful situation easier to handle. While no one ever wants to be in an emergency vet situation, we're grateful Bay State is close to home and will definitely be our go-to emergency vet moving forward. Bonus points for the multiple phone call and email updates through out her stay in the hospital, and even after the surgery they are available to answer questions while my regular vet is closed.

I know he most likely had to be put to sleep and would have taken him to my own vet but of course it had to happen on off hours. We took him to this place and when we got there we tried several times to explain the problem but nobody would listen. The demeanor was "get the animal in and out and collect a check" absolutely no compassion. There were a few people that were obviously not communicating with each other, and would read a script without stopping while we tried to tell them the problem and they just kept going on with their script. When they finally listened, they took Charlie in the back and gave him a shot. I couldn't even be with him when he died. Then they didn't seem to even care that they had to just kill someone's animal and handed instructions on what to do next. That was pretty much it. We never even saw a doctor. The most awful, humiliating and heartbreaking experience I've ever had putting an animal to sleep and I will never take my animal there again, for treatment or to be put down. I understand that everyone is busy, but if you can't handle the business and even do it professionally, then maybe you shouldn't be running it at all...

Slowly over the years some of older vets retired, the practice got smaller and the service slowly deteriorate. Finally the last of the original vets (Dr Rhinehart) retired and I'm assuming the practice has been sold to new owners. For about a year (maybe longer) they did business out of a trailer in very cramped quarters. Recently we had an appointment for our remaining dog that we had to cancel at the last minute due to a family medical emergency. We rescheduled the appointment but they insisted on charging us $32 for a missed appointment as well. We asked them as a courtesy to remove the charge since we were long time customers with no previous missed appointments. They refused and refused to sell us heartworm meds unless we also paid the $32 missed appointment fee. We are now changing vets. Disappointing!
