Luckily my mom was able to connect with Global FIP group on Facebook for amazing support & to get started on treatment 2/26. As time is not on my side with this deadly disease. We were also very lucky to be welcomed with open loving arms to Sylvans Animal Clinic. I just had my 1st of 6 rounds of CBC. My mom was very anxious about this with me being deaf there's no way to soothe me, until we walked through the door. The Doctor, technicians & receptionists were absolutely wonderful. They were ALL SO NICE & treated us both with such tender loving care. My mom & I couldn't be more happier with their services. Not to mention, I really loved & appreciated the comfort kisses on my head & neck while my blood was being drawn. Thats how my mom comforts me So we wanted to leave a much deserved AWESOME review in hopes to remind other pet parents out there, to be gentle & extra kind to the ones that are caring for our fur babies. On a side note....We were absolutely disgusted & felt really bad to watch a grown man before us yelling & being so disrespectful to ALL the (female) staff that were helping him. YOU BULLY!!! It took everything in me to keep my mouth shut. SHAME ON HIM!!!!! So they need to update this page delete it and start a new one or something. My dog had surgery there today and anyone that knows me knows when it comes to animals whether it's groomers or anyone else I'm a bit OCD about it as I have been rescuing for over 40 years. So I deal with a lot of different animals and have learned very very much from a few incredible rehabilitators. Anyways some were vets. And there are truly vets that were born to do this and then there are others that shouldn't be around animals. So don't take it lightly when I say so far this vet is fantastic. She was very thorough with me. With my fur client. We have shared custody! Anyway she took her time, and didn't mind repeating things when I couldn't understand what she was saying. The vet texts are good and even the secretaries are good. Young guy that works there is just such a nice guy. Also her prices beat every other hospital and vet significantly! The place is clean and friendly. Highly recommend. Now having said that I've been there three times and had a major surgery again which was today. Dental 13 extractions. It was horrible for My little gal I mean. But staff was just very good. So again I highly recommend for regular visits and hopefully you'll never need anything serious. I certainly hope nothing ever changes there. I can see why they are so busy. But hopefully the vet will never change her ways in how she listens and makes time for you. Excuse any typos!

Two weeks ago, we took her to Dr. Polis's office for a medication adjustment. During that visit, Dr. Polis recommended and sold us a Seresto tick collar. Almost immediately after putting it on, my dog began showing adverse reactions. She eventually stopped eating and was barely drinking water. We were in daily contact with the office about her declining condition. On the day she died, Dr. Polis advised us to "give it another day." Later that same day, my daughters rushed her to a different animal hospital because she was barely moving and had lost control of her bowels. She passed away that day. The bottom line is that this collar should never have been recommended for my dog, especially given her existing seizure disorder. I hold Dr. Polis directly responsible for my dog's suffering and death.

Unfortunately, by the time I got out, googlemaps said I would be 10 min late. I called to let them know and they said they couldn't take me and Inwould have to reschedule. (Yet for the appointments we had in the past with them, we had to wait AWHILE past our appointment times, so I guess that only works one way?) My cat has been vomiting and now I am left to figure out where to go/what to do. (Can't afford an animal hospital bill and its the weekend and other places are closed.) It's very unfortunate. Dr Block is like no other veterinarian we have met. It is very obvious how much he loves animals. He initially took a few minutes (on the floor) to get to know our dog. He petted her and talked to her to make her feel comfortable. I swear he is a dog whisperer, as she was very relaxed in his presence. We love that after hearing everything we had to say, and getting his questions answered, Dr Block, had a multi-step plan, giving us options (and no pressure) how to proceed in figuring out what is going on with our dog. The more he talked, the more he put us at ease. We left Baystate elated at the treatment we got. We feel very blessed to have both Baystate and Ocean State (both affiliated) available to us. We would 100% recommend either facility, as we have used both in the past.

Brought my 11yo dog, Amber, in at 9:30pm on a Friday night barely conscious after going into shock…read morefrom an acute episode of bloat. We had never experienced this before and thought she was dying due to other chronic health issues she has. She was immediately taken in and treated. After about an hour, she had stabilized, and we met with Dr. Miller who explained what had happened and that Amber would stay overnight for observation. We were allowed to say goodnight to her before going home for the night. Around 8:30am the next day, we received an email with an update that Amber was bright, alert and doing much better and they sent a picture! Not only did this make me cry but it helped me patiently wait for a call from the doctor. I understand this is a 24 hour emergency room, my pet is not their only patient, and they seem to be doing their best in an incredibly demanding and unpredictable environment. I spoke to Dr. Melcer around 1pm, got an update and we set up discharge for 4pm. Dr Melcer patiently and informatively answered all 5000 of my questions. We discharged Amber at the scheduled time and she strutted out with a staff member like she was being picked up from a fun sleepover and was absolutely fine! Thank God for the staff at BSVESS! The bill was to be expected for the service and they saved Amber's life so it is what it is. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was due to a medication error. Fortunately no harm was done and Dr. Melcer immediately addressed it during our call including all steps that were taken once the error was noticed. I mean the staff are people not AI, errors are going to happen, and they were very upfront and honest. They could easily have never told us and we wouldn't have known the difference.

I know he most likely had to be put to sleep and would have taken him to my own vet but of course it had to happen on off hours. We took him to this place and when we got there we tried several times to explain the problem but nobody would listen. The demeanor was "get the animal in and out and collect a check" absolutely no compassion. There were a few people that were obviously not communicating with each other, and would read a script without stopping while we tried to tell them the problem and they just kept going on with their script. When they finally listened, they took Charlie in the back and gave him a shot. I couldn't even be with him when he died. Then they didn't seem to even care that they had to just kill someone's animal and handed instructions on what to do next. That was pretty much it. We never even saw a doctor. The most awful, humiliating and heartbreaking experience I've ever had putting an animal to sleep and I will never take my animal there again, for treatment or to be put down. I understand that everyone is busy, but if you can't handle the business and even do it professionally, then maybe you shouldn't be running it at all...

Slowly over the years some of older vets retired, the practice got smaller and the service slowly deteriorate. Finally the last of the original vets (Dr Rhinehart) retired and I'm assuming the practice has been sold to new owners. For about a year (maybe longer) they did business out of a trailer in very cramped quarters. Recently we had an appointment for our remaining dog that we had to cancel at the last minute due to a family medical emergency. We rescheduled the appointment but they insisted on charging us $32 for a missed appointment as well. We asked them as a courtesy to remove the charge since we were long time customers with no previous missed appointments. They refused and refused to sell us heartworm meds unless we also paid the $32 missed appointment fee. We are now changing vets. Disappointing!

We will not be returning to this office. Bill $340 for rushed visit.
