Sooooooo...we didn't have the best start to the season opener at Hidden Creek this year. The biggest bummer was the fact that we paid full price, $8 for residents, and when we actually got out to the pool we were in for a bit of a surprise when the slides and deep end with diving boards were closed. Our 11 year old boys were pretty bummed, and to be honest with you the pool had a lot of nerve charging full price without alerting the public. I even called ahead to check for pricing. The truth is, I appreciated that the pool closed these amenities due to the fact they were understaffed, but I just think the communication could have been better. Regardless, the pool was clean as a whistle with plenty of places to sit, and the water was nice (no not a heated pool). Boys still enjoyed their first swim of the season, and the weather was beyond perfect. It was a San Diego kind of day. ;-) Hubby talked with management about his full price frustration and asked for free passes for the next time. The staff was more than happy to give them to us. Thanks guys, we'll use them! Top Tip: Call ahead to make sure the slides are open. read more

You can jump only once on board before you dive in. in other words, you can't jump-jump- dive in. only one jump. perhaps we should just wrap our kids in bubble wrap and not let them in the pool passed their toes. so glad I was able to be a kid. No wonder kids suffer such anxiety today. We are terrified of them doing anything. The lifeguards borderline bully everyone there. The atmosphere is so unpleasant. It's a barrage of "Don't do this, don't do that. Don't hang on the rope. No flips on the diving board. Don't jump off board until person before you completely out of the water. Late post: Aug 2017. Right off the downtown Highland Park, illinois exit (Central Road) is this waterpark. We had a great deal on Groupon last summer and we enjoyed our time there. For almost 3 hours, my daughter and I were either at the Froggy's Splashpad, Tadpole slide, and Crabby's cove--areas for toddlers. The splashpad had a water bucket drop overhead the water playground with a few slides. The Tadpole slide (for smaller children) is within the Crabby cove (0 depth pool). A bracelet covers the admission and entire use for that day. Plenty of free parking in this lot. read more

The ideal spot to cool off during a hot summer day. This water park is ginormous so I'd be nervous about taking both my non swimming children here on my own, but it's a great outing with my husband (or another helper). Glencoe residents pay HP rates, although unfortunately I discovered that after paying. $26 seemed a bit expensive, but next time it would come to $16. $8/R and $13/NR. Children 3 and under are free. If you plan on visiting a lot there's also the option of a summer pass. We dropped our stuff off on a lounge chair and spent most of our time in the zero-depth area. My kids loved it all, especially the water slide. I slid down once with my 3 year-old and managed to hurt myself (on the kiddie slide!), but apparently my toddlers are tougher than I am. Once my kids learn to swim we can make our way to the deeper areas of the pool so I think there's many more years of fun to be had here. Then again I had a blast and I'm in my 30s. There's also a water playground. The squirting water was a bit rough for my kids so we quickly made our way back to the zero-depth area, but I have a feeling they'll like it when they're a bit older. This past Sunday was busy (we ran into lots of friends), but it's such a large space that it didn't feel overly crowded. I also love that it's open on Sundays, which isn't the case for the toddler area at Deerspring Park.* Before heading home for naptime we decided to feed our hungry kids & (lucky for us) they sell food here. We kept it simple by ordering quesadillas (on wheat tortillas) for the kids. The portions are large (1 quesadilla order is plenty for both my hungry kids). Clean and spacious. My 2 year old son always have a blast coming here. Great thing is that it's very close to our house, we could almost walk from there. 4 stars only because $7 bucks seems a lot and even much more $12 for non residents. And this is supposed to be a community recreation area. Just because we live in HP doesnt mean we dont work our butt to earn a living especially for young couples/family and new residents like us who doesnt believe in paying extra for what it's worth. I went there as part of my son Summer Camp Field Trip. Is a good place. I like that they have a close area big enough for the little kids to enjoy and be around without getting bored. I'm just giving 3 starts because they need to do a deep cleaning and also repaint the pool, there are some spots specifically in the front of area around the pool stairs that even have kind of green mold (I don't really know how is it call) but it looked gross. And the paint is coming out in several spots. And also, the coming out of the water thing gets kind of annoying after a few times. This is a very nice water park. Lounge chairs are in plentiful supply and both the pool and the changing rooms seemed quite clean. There are two bigger water slides, kids play and spray area, sand play area, diving board, lap swim lanes, cannon ball slide and a smaller kiddie slide. I got pretty lucky. When I went we were the only patrons there (a lightening storm had just ended). They were nice enough to open up the pool for us and we got to swim for an hour on our own. It was better for the kid I was with when other kids showed up though. It never got that crowded, but that might have been because of the spottiness of the weather. This would be five stars, except I didn't think it was that affordable. Granted, people who live in Highland Park probably wouldn't blink at spending $7 for a day's fun, it was a little much in my opinion. Non-Resident entrance fees are even more ($12). It was still a good time. I'd go again if I was in the area. read more

The food service was beyond terrible; I waited 45 min for an order of french fries! Really!?? Ran out of ketchup, kids pawing at the glass to get their food orders. I have three kids: 8 months, 2.5 and 4.5. I ventured into this place for the first time today with all three kids by myself. I was very nervous, but it all went wonderfully. I dressed my kids for the pool before going in...if you are going solo with multiple kids I highly recommend arriving fully pool-dressed. I also planned to leave the pool in pool attire. I'm not hero, I am just trying to make it out with three living kids :) Mothers (and fathers) take note: I was allowed to bring my bob stroller in to the pool area. This was awesome! My littlest guy finally fell asleep after I pushed him around the deck for awhile. He napped in the stroller while I played with my other two kids. The zero entry part is wonderful. My kids went down the slide so many times. That whole area stays under 2 feet. My daughters were both happy to play independently. I was thrilled to let the, have a little more freedom. I felt more nervous at the Devonshire pool in Skokie. The food? Well it is CASH ONLY. #%$@ :/ that sucked. I didn't know it would be cash only and who brings cash to the pool? I agree with the other reviewer: the lifeguards all seemed very, very young. I kept my own intense mommy lifeguard self on duty as I felt like they did miss quite a bit. In the spray ground, my 2 year old went down the twisty slide and really struggled with the landing, she was coughing up a lot and really shaken up. I was holding a baby, and the lifeguard just stared at me unimpressed. I felt like she should have intervened in some way. One star off for this interaction. I mean, come on, lifeguards! read more

This place is really awesome. One of the best community water parks I've ever been to. It's borderline commercial water park, that's how legit it is. It truly is a "hidden" gem. I've told many people about it and they have no idea it is even there. And it's not far off the beaten path! It's just off 41 in Highland Park! The best part about it, in my opinion, is the kiddy area. Now that we have a 16 month old daughter, we need a way to escape the summer heat and not hover over our daughter while she swims or runs through sprinklers. Their splash mat (I think that's what it's called) is huge with little water shooters that can be turned on and off and aimed at different objects. There is a kiddy slide that empties into a little wading pool, definitely safe enough for Quinn to go by herself, but its fun to have her sit on our laps. A giant bucket fills up and dumps its refreshing water every minute or so. There is also an enormous adult pool with two tall slides. One slide is a straight steep drop, the other is a twisty slide. If you're brave enough, the drop slide next to the diving board will certainly make your bathing suit a nice shade of yellow. Rates are $14 for non-residents, $8 for residents. Check Groupon before you go. They usually have a deal for $16 for two non-residents! We can't wait to go back next summer! read more

The facilities get 5 stars from me. Here is where the star rating drops. The lifeguards were not attentive at all. The splash pad area NEEDS a lifeguard on duty not only for safety, but also to make sure that older kids are not acting too wild, especially when they would close the regular pool for kids 16 and under, all the kids would go in the splash pad, including teens. There should be a limit as to how many kids can be in that area for safety reasons. I saw boys who must have been 14-15, hanging on the splash pad structure/laying on it (at least 7 feet off the ground). They could have slipped, fallen and not only hurt themselves, but also the little ones playing in the splash pad. When I came up to a lifeguard, he sounded annoyed, rolled his eyes and said he will "handle it". He never came over or sent anyone over, and we were there for 2 hours after that. Other parents kept coming up to various older kids to ask them to calm down. Also, the big kids were shooting pressurized water directly into each others' eyes (from where it shot out.. as a game) One kid started crying and his eye was on fire. I'm not sure where the lifeguards were, because even when they were asked to look after the area, they did not come or respond in a respectful way. read more

Residents are $7 and nonresidents are $12 and free for kids 3 and under. The facility is clean and generally well-maintained. They also have a snack bar but it only takes cash. I think the $12 non-resident fee is understandable considering how many employees they have here--several employees walking around sweeping and cleaning and probably 50 lifeguards. It's a great place to bring the kids! I had 5 kids with me today, which I felt completely ok with because they have so many wonderful lifeguards. The two older boys, 8 and 11 could go off on their own and I knew they'd be fine. They also know that we meet at the pool breaks to check in. I also was able to allow the 5 year old to go down the drop slide because the lifeguards were very attentive. She can swim, but is still young and that's 12 feet of water. Large sand box with lots of toys (Digger, mud pie station, etc) & a fenced in water play area for young kids with a slide, splash zone, water spray guns and bucket dump. Large pool has walk in with toys in shallow end so lots for the younger crowd. Its never been crazy crowed when we've gone as well so its easy to get a spot. read more

I've been visiting this water park for years, they recently changed food venders, and it is amazing. The facility seems very clean, and they make everything fresh to order. There paninis are delicious, and there salads are very crisp. I make sure to try something new every time I visit. I am always pleasantly surprised. read more
