For the price they have you paying for rooms and food and parking it should be clean water clean rooms and they should throw in perks for customers but they're to money hungry! Stop lying I never got a discount

We took our kiddos here for a long weekend to celebrate my son's 4th birthday, and they had a blast! Our check-in experience was fine, and we easily got our wristbands. Our room was awesome. It had a cool little spot in the center with bunkbeds and had a fun scene with charters. The kids felt like they were in a fort and loved it! The waterpark itself was so fun! The kids loved the splash pad area and 'smaller kid' slides. My husband and I had a few moments to switch off and enjoy the lazy river. We appreciated that there was lifejackets available! We purchased a food voucher in advance to save some money. The food was alright, not many vegetarian options. We ended up eating two meals total on site and got Olive Garden (off site) the first night. Next time we will choose to eat off-site. They have a Build-A-Bear on site, which was a huge hit! The kids LOVED the arcade, and they had good bundle deals for tokens. They had dancing and fun activities led by the staff at different times of day. Once our kids are older, we will utilize the other fun activities like bowling, climbing, etc. Overall, this was such a fun weekend, and we can't wait to go back!

We came here for a few days after my brother and his family came in from California. It was a great way to start our visit! We all had so much fun! So many activities for everyone to enjoy. We had one of the 2 bedroom suites which allowed us with enough space to be able to relax and not feel on top of each other. The water park is sooo fun and extremely safe. We rented a cabana for the 2 days and loved every minute of it. It was nice to have a "home base" for everyone. The kids could go play on the slides, lazy river, or wave pool alone and come back to us when they wanted to. There are several places within the hotel to order food, snacks, ice cream, and coffee! They also offer many different packages so you can make your visit what you need it to be! Cannot say enough good things about the staff here either!

Don't panic reading some of the more negative reviews on here. There are just some people that cannot just enjoy an experience and have to find something or many things to complain about. Are there "different" types of people here? Yes. Are they maybe different from the people you surround yourself with normally? Probably yes. Is this a place where they live and breathe and upsell/up charge? Absolutely, but isn't that anywhere like this? This was our first GWL experience and my first indoor water park experience (grew up in AZ where all water parks were outside). We stayed one night. We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and left at 11am Sunday. We arrived on Saturday and we were surprised that a room was already available for us. We parked (yes you have to pay for parking). Then we lugged our bags up a hill and went to our room. Our room was a standard 2 queen bed room. When my husband checked in the morning of our stay it gave him a "would you be willing to pay X amount for an upgrade to a room with bunk beds if it's available at check in time" he said ok because it was about $25 at that point unlike $100 when originally booking. We did not end up getting the "upgrade". We didn't mind either way. The elevators take forever so most of the time we chose to take the stairs. We had a bit of a challenging time finding a chair to put our stuff on as it was the middle of the day on a Saturday. We found one and immediately I saw a trail of blood on the pool deck. I notified a lifeguard and it was 5 min before anyone came to block off the contaminated area and then probably another 5 minutes before they cleaned it. Meanwhile people are walking through the blood!!! So gross! We spent probably 4-5 hours at the pool. It was fine. Just lots of people and lots of kids. My kids are 4 and 6 so they weren't big on many of the water slides even though they could ride most. They enjoyed the smaller slides, lazy river and wave pool. There are a few snack places and a bar but we didn't go to any. The bathrooms inside the water park are beyond disgusting but with that many people I guess that's what you have to expect. When we were done at the pool we went back to our room (mostly it was a very clean room). We got ready and got our wolf ears. They had balloon animals being made in the main area by the fire place and a craft. We ended up eating at Barnwood for dinner. We didn't have a reservation but it was almost 6pm and they didn't have a wait or anything. The place was pretty empty. Now it is pricey, but we just didn't want to hassle with finding a place to eat offsite and didn't feel like pizza for dinner. You can order pizza and have it delivered to you. I also saw a few door dashers in the building as well. Barnwood was fine. The water glasses had water droplets stains on them which is kind of ick. The food was decent and so were the cocktails. It was a nice quieter dinner for us after being in the loud water park most of the afternoon. Afterwards we walked around. I should say we didn't pay for any of the extra add ons or passes (I know, boo, boring, mean parents) but we have talked to so many friends that said you don't need those things for your kids to have fun and it's fine either way. We looked at the shops, looked at the arcade, went to the glow dance party, which was mainly a dance party because no one wanted to spend $25 on a bubble glow wand for their kid. We got some ice cream and headed to bed because our kids were zonked. In the morning we noticed blood stains on the sheets of one of our beds but none of us were injured or had been bleeding so that was icky. We brought our own breakfast and then my kids got a donut from dunkin. We went to the pool for a few hours. It was way less crowded on Sunday- we felt like most people were checking out. It was also cleaner because it was the beginning of the day. We got to do a character meet and greet before we left. Our kids had so much fun. We didn't do the extra stuff and honestly they didn't really ask to do any of the extra stuff. You don't need to go broke to go to GWL. I won't be rushing back. I'm not a huge water park fan and I think our kids will like it a bit more when they are older. I'm glad we experienced it though.

Perfect place for a little getaway with the kids if they enjoy the water. The kids had a blast! Even little/younger kids will have fun as they had a spot where they could enjoy where the pool was only 2 feet deep. Slides, lazy river, water basketball, plus more. My kids stayed in one area but there was a lot to do. The room was cute, a little area for the kids to sleep and watch tv and a separate area with a full size bed. Bring your own snacks because it costs extra for everything, depending on the package you purchased. We spent $20 for a chicken tender and fries meal (no refills on the drink). Good thing there are plenty of restaurants in the same area you can dine at instead. And if you want to do a little shopping, Gurnee Mills Mall is right down the street. I'd definitely come back just so the kids can have a great time in an indoor water park but I'll be more prepared with snacks and time management. They also have the arcade we didn't get to. They don't open the water park until 10a so to really get your moneys worth for a one night stay, trying to get two days of water play is needed.

Ask the Community - Great Wolf Lodge

Are there electric car chargers here? how many charging stations are there? what kind of adapter…

    No chargers on site

What are the best rides here?

My personal favorite is Fort Mackenzie at the water park

Does the water park have one or more hot tubs?

    No hot tubs unfortunately

How clean was the rooms when you got into them (floors, beds made?, Bathroom problems, things like that)?

For me and my family the rooms were very clean however I found them extremely overpriced service was not that good and they wanted you to pay for everything so I would caution you about staying there as far as price wise is concerned but the rooms…

Can we buy just the passes for the park without staying in the hotel?

No! Nor would I stay there at $500 plus a night with them charging you for everything everything their food is questionable at best their service is basically nonexistent I would not recommend anybody stay at that place ever until they decide to do…

Are there microwaves in each room?

We had a regular room and it did! I'm almost positive that they do

Are the food packages worth buying?

To be honest I didn’t know they offered food packages. We were there for 24 hours and had two family meals (dinner and lunch) at Barnwood for @ $125 each meal. There were five adults and two kids.…

Is there a fridge in the rooms I could store a few snacks in?

We had a fridge in our room every time we went. So I assume so.

    Microwave or nah?

    Not in the room.

The patio was small, but it was private and comfortable for cocktails and morning coffee. The water park was great. Our four-year-old granddaughter loved it, and we enjoyed it as well.

I enjoyed my stay here with my 3 and 5 year old. The Waterpark is a good size for younger children,…read morebut probably not big enough to keep older kids entertained. I love that the room had a stovetop and full fridge so that we didn't have to eat out every night, especially when my young kids barely ever finish a meal. The kitchen was stocked with 1 pan, 1 large pot, 4 large plates, 4 small plates, 4 bowls, and some glasses. It was enough for us to get by for a couple days but I did have to run the tiny dishwasher once during our stay. I brought my own dishwasher pods but I saw they had 1 pack of detergent available. I forgot about the lack of oven and bought frozen pizza, so don't be like me! The arcade is way too overpriced. I came to realize that you're paying $10 for each Virtual reality ride. Most of the games cost a couple bucks each. It would be better if you could get a card that worked unlimited for an hour. I think between my husband and I re-upping our cards, we spent $500 at the arcade & bowling alley over 3 days. My kids did love the mini bowling lanes, but again at $6/player/ game, it added up quickly. I didn't feel that the room was that outdated. I loved the big whirlpool tub, but one of the jet covers would fly off any time we turned it on. All in all, I'd return but mostly because I want to go to the nearby Safari when it's open for summer.

What an absolute BLAST of a waterpark!! Highlights: really…read moregreat staff/lifeguards & very clean. Summer 2026 the rate for four adults, two children under 5 and cooler for $126. Came here on at 11am on a Friday into the afternoon and we all had so much fun. There were some school trips there and all the chairs were taken but it still didn't feel crowded. Short lines, if any, for the lazy river and short lines for the slides. - The lazy river was a hit! 2'5" makes it easy for everyone to enjoy. You have to stay in your tube and the kids complied, mostly, LOL. My 5yo nephew quickly found his element and must've went around 50 times. When it gets busy and the line reaches a sign, you can only go around once. We did have to do that twice but the line getting back on was quick and eventually died down when the school kids left. By 1pm it was smooth floating. - They have four waterslides. Two of them are drop slides (just learned the term). The longer ones were so fun! You can even catch some air on the right slide haha. I think they're built more for the adults than the kids! The two drop sides are also so fun and give you that adrenaline rush. Or at least for me! I did unfortunately fall pretty hard into the water on the left drop slide and have regular issues with my ears as it is. I should have prepared myself better and am still suffering the consequences of not acting my age I guess HAHA. I will say the manager Jason Mata was incredibly helpful. He was able to put some alcohol drops in my ear to relive the fluid from my ear. However it came right back a few minutes later, no fault to him. Either way, it was so much fun and didn't ruin my time one bit! They also have a large pool with a partial deep section and a splash pad area for younger kids. There's also a beach/sandlot playground to enjoy. Lots of fun for everyone!! And the best perk is being able to bring your own food and drinks. This excludes any glassware or alcohol. I honestly think that's a clutch option and so awesome! Did I mention the place is clean and the staff is great?? Cheers to summer!!
