I attended this venue for the first time last Saturday, for a lovely outdoor wedding…read more The grounds were beautiful and the timing was perfect. It was a 4:35 wedding, so it was starting to cool off. They have an arbor under which the bridal party stood, and the attendees face west. But because of the tree line for the woods (with creek below that) that run along the west side of the building, there was beautiful speckled shade, and we were not facing any harsh sun. The grass and perennial planting beds were in very nice condition. The receiving line was held outdoors as well, at the entrance to the building on the circular drive under the large open roof. From there guests could see that the catering company (separate contract) set up the beautiful pool patio for a short reception while the wedding party and families did additional pictures. This was perfect because, inside the bar was already open and outside we had tea, water and hors d'oevres to pass the time and visit with other guests. Again, this outdoor area was lovely. There was a lot of standing room and only a handful of chairs and tables. They might consider adding more for an event like this. The front has double doors to/off the foray. Indoors, the facility is painted a cheerful yellow, and the open-beam construction is so pretty that you don't need to dress it up with a lot of decorations. The place is full of windows in the front near where the catering set up food on one side and the wedding cake on the other. But the real show stoppers are the picture windows on the west side. They set up the bridal party table in front of the windows, and I'm sure the pictures were beautiful. It's definitely got an upscale lodge feel (hence the name) with a stone hearth on the south end of the hall and a loft on the north side, where the DJ sets up. That was fun because as the wedding party was announced again at the reception they got to file down the stairs and dance across the dance floor to their seats. The staff was friendly and one even helped with cake cutting, though that apparently wasn't arranged before the event. The caterers (just okay) refused to cut the cake. The bar had a cute chalkboard display furthering the classy country vibe. One thing to consider for us ladies is to get dropped off at the front if you're in heels. The parking lot and the walk to the facility itself is course gravel. It could tear up nice shoes. Beautiful venue on pristine grounds. I just wish it was closer to Indy but I get that not everything can be!

Very nice self contained wedding/reception venue. The staff was friendly and helpful. Inside and…read moreoutside it is all beautiful. They have the capability to serve sit down meals and to have a full bar. It got a little noisy for me so I took a little walk outside. I don't know who was more startled--me or the big at least ten point buck that was getting a drink if water. If you are planning an event in this area, you MUST check this place out. Two thumbs up! OMG. This place even has a dedicated propane fueled 20 kilowatt back up generator. I'm in LOVE.

Tried this place again and had an improved experience:…read more PROS: +appreciate the repurposed school building and their chosen decor that is focused on the highlighting the building's history +our server, Bradley, was very pleasant and hardworking +like the Baked White Bean Hummus ($14), which is served warm with hot pita bread triangles +really enjoyed the Greek Goddess Salad ($17), especially the fried olives and crispy checkpeas +love the fries ($3.50), which were a generous portion size and tasted awesome with their natural cut and however they prepare them +the Belgiumnasium 18 Mo Boubon Barrel-Aged Quadrupel ($1 / oz) is dangerously good and one of the best beers I have had CONS: -awkward, tight table spacing placed my wife and I in a table tucked somewhat inside a brick cove of the small room in the northwest part of the building with our neighboring table perpendicularly against our own (and they were tight on their other side to the next table and so forth) -no buffer on the exterior northwest door meant cold air shot through each time someone entered via that door and made things chilly -wife asked for mustard for our fries and then noticed we were charged $1 for the sauce container they provided -they were out of the 1st beer I was interested in (bit it worked out since I loved the 2nd choice I went with) -price point seems a little high for a decent bit of their food options OVERALL We are pescetarian, so that limits our menu options. However, each of the items we ordered had excellent flavor. I would come back again purely for the fries and beer. Might need to scout the table options in order to identify where we would prefer to be seated for a more comfortable dining experience.

We had a variety of beers across the table and all were great. This visit we tried the soft pretzel bread pudding and it was delicious. Might not be the best value, but it's always enjoyed.
