Sensory table on the 2nd floor in the nature center
    Ashley A.

This is one of my favorite places to bring my small children to enjoy nature and be outside. The outdoor play area is perfect for imaginative, nature-based play. They have a large play area outside with so many things to discover, manipulate, and enjoy. There are picnic tables as well so bring a snack or lunch (remember to clean up after yourselves.) The building is just as fun and well worth the visit. They have animals in tanks or cages such as turtles, snakes, fish, etc. Little ones love to see animals up close and this is a great spot for them to see. Upstairs there is a play room with more tanks of animals to see as well as animal and nature themed toys and games. There is a sensory table filled with pinecones, feathers, shells, and more. I live about 40 minutes away but it is well worth the long drive with little kids. - Bring plenty of water and snacks - Bring sunscreen - If it rained recently, bring bug spray or wear layers to avoid the mosquitoes and bugs

They were on time but their manager/supervisor was bringing them a key. Unfortunately for us, their manager didn't arrive until 1:45 almost 2 hours after our scheduled appointment time. The 2 workers were very apologetic with us responding it's not their fault. We would like to say to the management, do better!! How dare you have people wait for your slow behinds!! it was extremely hot and very inconveniencing to your patrons. And to make matters worse we didn't even get offered a discount for our inconvenience!! If offered a discount it would have at Least showed you had some professionalism but alas you didn't. Had you shown just an ounce of professionalism I would have possibly considered giving you another try. I wouldn't recommend Whalon Lake Kayak rental to my dog. Sincerely, Very hot and disappointed patron

IT TAKES A VILLAGE…read more Raising children is hard, but Wolf's Crossing Community Park makes life a bit easier. Located on the Naperville / Oswego border where 95th St dead-ends into Wolf's Crossing Rd, this public park incorporates 33 acres of carefully planned and meticulously maintained space. It's the perfect answer when asked by your kid for the umpteenth time "wHaT aRe wE dOoOiNg ToDaY?" This complex features a playground, splash pad, covered pavilion, basketball courts, sand volleyball, tennis/pickleball courts, a lookout point with sledding hill and a ninja warrior obstacle course. It connects to various biking trails and there's onsite public bathrooms with plenty of parking. The ~100ft zipline is a standout feature and draws a considerable line on busier days. Watching kids nearly get yeeted off into the bushes makes for great theater! I assume the weight limit is 200lbs so next time I'ma have a go at it (get outta my way, kids!) The only thing missing is concessions, as the lone pop machine near the restrooms didn't appear to work. I think there's enough people here on a routine basis to warrant building a snack shop! I'd love to serve nachos and root beer to hungry peeps, as long as I got paid $25/hr. * TL;DR * This idyllic, multi-faceted rec area is fully deserving of its perfect rating. Wolf's Crossing Community Park was built with young children and special accommodations in mind, easily accessible to all ages & abilities. The fam spent several hours here (granted, most of them were confined to the splash pad) and we barely scratched the surface. I can't wait to beast through that legit obstacle course some day when I remember to wear close-toed shoes. Ain't no way my clumsy ass is making it through there in flip flops. WCCP has tons of what we in the gaming realm refer to as "replayability", essentially, is there enough stuff to do on repeat visits? You bet there is! See for yourself, check them out before summer's gone!

The trail is saddled by nature on one side and beautiful homes on the other. While we visited this approx. 3 to 4 mile trail during the winter, it still provided all of nature in its glory with a small creek, tall trees and wildlife. One of the best parts about the trail is there's one house that leaves painted rocks with inspirational messages right along the trail for people who pass by. Next to the rocks there's a message that says "Take one, Share one, Leave one." As I bent down to pick one up a fellow walker on the trail yelled out he had five at home. He said the inspirational messages really helped make his day, and we agreed.

We have done swimming classes through the park district and they were fantastic…read more A disappointment has been the parent and tot gymnastics. We paid $120 for 10 sessions. I didn't expect my two year old toddler to learn actual gymnastics but the problem is there is really no instruction. The teacher leads stretches and then says "ok go do the obstacle course" for 30 minutes. I was so confused during our first class that no other parent looked confused and just started doing the obstacle course. However, I learned that most of the parents this was their second time doing gymnastics at the park district. I felt so lost. I wasn't sure how my son should be doing the obstacle course, and I thought there would at least be some sort of instruction when I signed up. This is definitely not a class because no one teaches. This should just be "pre-pay for 10 sessions of open gym time." 10 weeks is way too long to do the same obstacle course every Saturday without instruction. The kids in the ninja class look happy but I'm skeptical now if I'll even sign my child up for this in the future.
