Hiddencroft Vineyards has excellent offerings all across the board, which is a rarity along the East Coast! Their red wines really shine such as their Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, & Petit Verdot! Their Petit Verdot is my favorite of anywhere across the world. I really like their Petit Manseng & Traminette for their white wines. For the fruity experimental types, I like their Grandma's Love Potion which is a blueberry wine.

Truly a must go to Winery. We had a chance to speak with Clyde who explained the wine making process to us that is used by their winery. We loved all their Reds but were drawn to buy several bottles of Serenity before leaving. The atmosphere here is great. We had planned on visiting 3 wineries but ended up just staying here. We love the place!!

Awesome little winery! I visited one hot and humid Sunday summer afternoon. Did the entire tasting. Enjoyed almost everything! The staff was friendly and interactive! They also have some cool wine-themed merchandise for sale - such as the cool map themed wine bottle carriers. Next time I come back - need to bring some friends! #HiddencroftVineyards

Backdoor patio has an open fire pit; good for tastings even in early spring.

The second stop of a 3-winery July visit. Had the good fortune of having Clyde, their wine maker, as my server. His wife even recognized me from previous visits! Great combination of excellent wine, atmosphere, and affordability. $7 fee for tasting 10 or more wines. Most were in the low $20-range. The tasting room is not especially large, but then it probably doesn't need to be. Hiddencroft is definitely tucked away on a dirt farm road, which means it lacks the big crowds of more built-up locations (which as a customer I find is a good thing). I appreciate wineries that take the time to age their product and grow their own grapes; they do both. With only 6 acres under vine they buy and sell some grapes but 90% of their wines are estate grown. Most wines spend around 36 months in barrel; the 'youngest' wine spends 'only' 30 months in barrel. Considering how many wineries are keeping them in barrel only 12 months, that's impressive. Many but not all the reds trend towards a fruity palate; in fact several (Grandma's Love Potion and Sweet Cherry) are made entirely with fruits (blueberry and cherry, respectively), and the Vitus Rubus is made with 1/3rd raspberry. It was hard to pick a single favorite; here are some highlights: Grandma's Love Potion: 100% Blueberry (and 13% alcohol). If Clyde hadn't told me I wouldn't have known it wasn't a grape-based wine. No overt fruitiness or sweetness to it. I've had it during previous visits but the most recent vintage is clearly superior to the previous ones. Sweet Cherry: LOVE the nose; I've made brownies with this (unsuccessfully, but not because of the wine). If you like cherry wines, try this one. 2009 Cab Franc: Fruity nose and palate, full bodied. Not earthy like other Franc's I'm accustomed to. 2012 Petit Verdot: Concur with the tasting note description of 'dark and tannic'. 2010 Chambourcin: Full bodied - and actually NOT fruity like other Chambourcins I've had. Probably a good vintage for those who normally don't like this grape. 2010 Tranquility (Cab Sav and Tannat): Not often on the tasting menu but I lucked out. Made in partnership with 8 Chains North and Tarara wineries. I wish Tannat grew better here! Oh, and one more thing: if you buy a case, you are a member for LIFE, which includes free tastings.

Hidden gem of a vineyard. This place is quite literally hidden you will drive on what you think is a drive way for miles until you're here! They let me try I believe 12 wines on the tasting for 8 dollars which might be the best deal on tastings in VA. They had a great range of fruit wine, whites and reds. I loved the apple white wine because it was dry and refreshing at the same time. They let us bring food (with tasting room purchase) so we sat outside on the beautiful country side with our cheese plate!

a view of a field with a barn in the background

Still one of our favorite wine stops in the DMV. Great place to relax by the fire pit and sip some enjoyable wine.

We were able to try the top group and some of the fruity wines. $8 for tastings.

Hiddencroft Vineyards was our first stop in our vineyard hopping trip on this foggy, rainy day! Getting there was definitely a trek, leading us down a pothole filled road, which definitely wasn't a highlight of the trip. Wine selection - 5 They had an outstanding tasting selection ranging from a rosé, to whites, dry reds, and fruit wines. There is definitely at least one wine you will like! My favorites ended up being the Grandma's Love Potion and the Blackberry - both having fruity berry flavors. Atmosphere - 4 The atmosphere was definitely very cozy and relaxing. The inside of the tasting rooms had 2 large bars available for the tastings. I imagine that the scenery around the vineyard is beautiful in the warmer months. There's lots of outdoor seating, and ample seating upstairs. There's also a cute gift shop that sells pretty neat wine accessories, like wine tots and holders. Wine presentation - 3 Definitely not trying to be a downer, but the presentation of the wine here wasn't as good as most places I've been. It just felt kind of rushed and uncomfortable with too many gaps of silence. No sort of "where are you from?" bantor, that I enjoy. Overall, I give Hiddencroft a 4! I really liked this place and will definitely be back in the nicer, summer months.

Nice view...peaceful with an old cabin in the backyard. The Chardonnay and the semi-sweet white wine we tried are pretty good.

This winery works closely with both Fabbioli and Sunset Hills. Clyde (the owner) has been growing grapes for years. His spot is a little hard to find (make sure you approach the winery from route 9, and follow the signs). The tasting room has a real industrial feel but he makes wine here; he's not a gift store. Their Chambourcin is fantastic. Both the regular and the "Reserve." (Spend the extra $2 for the Reserve). The Vidal Blanc is wonderful (crisp and dry), but their stand out red is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Tannat. Clyde admits a fondness for making fruit wines too--currently he has a cherry, raspberry and blueberry wine (he also had an apple wine at one time). He has a few outdoor tables, as well as a gazebo. You really feel like you're away from it all here.....one of the best spots in the county.

Jeep & dog friendly! OMG beautiful setting!!! Drop dead gorgeous setting, but dogs only allowed outside. Otherwise very good wine selections that appeals to all palates. Award winning reds~ truth be told is well worth the road less traveled. We had the outside courtyard to ourselves on a Labor Day weekend! Definitely worth the long drive out there. Friendly owner & staff could not have been nicer to us.

What a find folks put into your GPS and head out to Hidden Croft Vineyard. It's well worth the drive. Sitting on the patio you can listin to brook as it passes as you enjoying the view. Then Clyde will tell you the story behind the historic buildings on the property, in warmer weather he will take you a tour of the buildings. Know unto the wines I enjoyed every one of them the chardonnay was my favorite, my better half really enjoyed the sweeter berry wines. Stop by for a visit with Clyde and enjoy his story telling and most of the wines

    Cute little house!

I was really impressed by their commitment to supporting the community and showcasing other small businesses. That intention shows up in every detail, from the collaborations to the overall vibe. The food was so good. The jerk chicken was a standout, flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the charcuterie board was fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully done. Pair that with their wine cocktails and you're in for a treat. They're creative, well-crafted, and honestly some of my favorite wine-based cocktails I've had. What really sets Boyd Cru apart is that it's family-owned and operated, and they truly make you feel like family while you're there. Warm, welcoming, and intentional. Bonus: the space is also available to rent for private events, which is such a great option for anyone looking to host something intimate and meaningful. Highly recommend stopping by, whether for a tasting, a cocktail, brunch on Sundays or to support a local gem that's doing things the right way.

The whole place is a vibe. The decor is thoughtful, intentional, cozy, and inviting. The staff were welcoming, genuine, and extremely knowledgeable. Whether your are vino virgin or a cultured connoisseur, this spot is unpretentious and overwhelmingly welcome. But make no mistake... these ladies know their way around a grape, and they are well equipped to tell you whatever you need to know about what's in your glass. Let's get into these wines. I highly recommend the flight to get familiar with the different wines they have to offer. The Sparkling Vidal Blanc is not included in the pairing, so go on and get you a glass of that too. Trust me. The "Community" Vidal Blanc is easily one of the best bottles of white that has ever blessed my palate. Crisp, refreshing, full of bright, summery flavors but not too sweet... it's practically begging to be paired with a delicious plate of seafood (preferably one cooked with butter and lots of garlic). This is a great sipping wine, and an even better one to pair with dinner. The "Free Spirit" rose is another great sipping wine. Light, slightly sweet, and full of character, this was also a really great glass of wine. I like my reds a little bolder, so the "Living Legacy" red was not my favorite. It was still a good sip, and if you enjoy reds a little on the lighter side, this might be for you. Still worth a try in my book. Now I love bubbles and the only thing I enjoyed more than the vidal blanc was the sparkling vidal blanc! There's so much character in this bubbly... you'll have to taste and experience it for yourself. For me personally, it's high on the list of the best sparkling wines I've every had. If a plain glass of wine is not your thing, no worries. They also offer a number of wine-based cocktails, as well. In partnership with nearby businesses, the winery offers a limited variety of snacks including charcuterie boards, flatbreads, cake flights, as well as trail mix and popcorn available at the bar. I got the Smith Island Cake flight. While it's definitely not authentic Smith Island Cake, it's good to curb a raging sweet tooth. Speaking of partnerships, the winery also offers products from other local small businesses for sale: spices, body care products, jewelry and other items... So you can sip and shop. A few small areas of improvement I would recommend. -More, bigger and better signage...especially on the street. I was driving all around the area, then roaming all over Savage Mill Shopping Center before I finally found my way. -Provide more parking details, landmarks and directions on the website. (I ended up parking in a nearby neighborhood, only to find that there was a free parking lot available). -Expand snack offerings... perhaps sell individually packaged snacks from local businesses for purchase within the winery. -Consider adding a flight that will allow patrons to try all of the wines available. Shoutout to Eden and the crew for such a fantastic afternoon of good vibes and great wine. I'll be back... and I'm bringing friends!
