You'll get a fantastic look at mountains and woodlands while you sip on your wine. Speaking of, I enjoyed the wine a lot. They grow unique vaietals for Virginia (Albarino and Chambourcin for example) and I particularly enjoyed their Seyval that was partially made with native grapes. We met the owner and his daughter, both of whom were delightful and happy to show how the wine was made. My only wish is that they had a more substantive food list. Although they had delicious hand crafted truffles (and the day I was there, wine pairings with locally made pies), they essentially only offer pre-packaged snacks. But when the wine, scenery and company are so nice, you can't go wrong. read more

What a nice little winery tucked away in Loudoun County! I'm trying to get to all of them but there's so many. And they tend to blend together. This one is special because it's the first vineyard in the area. Willowcroft has a nice outdoorsy, rustic vibe. Their white wines were delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day. And the staff were so friendly and welcoming to me and my puppy. I'll definitely be back to relax and sip on a glass or two. read more

Service was super friendly. Wines were decent- we got the albarino (our favorite grape!) and the rose (which we brought to our monthly wine tasting and it wasn't completely snubbed!). They have a little walking path which was a nice touch. Wines are a touch on the high side mostly more than $30/bottle. Nice views of the valley. read more

This winery is amazing! The qualify is all top notch and the service is great. My wife and I came here with my best man before my wife and it's flight from Dulles to London for our honeymoon. BIt's a lot better and less busy than Stone Tower where They have a good tasting menu for wine. They even gave us the extras two wines for free. This winery is probably is best one we've been to. I love how simple and intimate this winery is. They are doing tastings, flights, and entire bottles which is great considering most wineries are only allowing guests to buy entire bottles of wine. They are enforcing social distancing in the space, but there is so much outside seating it's easy to do that. There is also a beautiful view (as you can see in my photo) that you can take in while you're enjoying your wine. I did a tasting of three wines and all three were very delicious. They have a large wine tasting list and Im excited to go back and try more the next time I'm in Purcellville. read more

Visited this wonderful winery on our anniversary. Delicious wines, friendly staff, quaint setting. Definitely recommend!

Wine was great but what made this winery stand out was the kindness of the owners and those that worked there. I accidentally spilt part of my red wine flight on my white dress and two individuals who appeared to be the owners were quick to help. They immediately provided me with a roll of paper towels and wine stain remover to clean up. The stain removed worked like a charm and my dress was saved. They even went above and beyond by pour the flight again! I'm very grateful for such kind service! read more

My husband and I came here on an October Monday duding peak foliage. We ordered a white and red flight to split and also got 2 extra pours - Petit Verdot and Martingale. We enjoyed our flights outside with a beautiful view! Our favorite wine was the Albariño by far, which had notes of peach, lime, and flint. We also enjoyed the unique Cold Steel Chardonnay, which had notes of cinnamon, apple, lemon, and allspice. This was a family friendly winery due to its outdoor space and we would consider returning with our kids! read more

Stopped in last Saturday for my first visit to Willowcroft. I had high expectations based on reading the previous Yelp reviews. And Willowcroft delivered! A light drizzle was falling as I walked in about 2:00 pm. The tasting room is located in a weathered, dilapidated-looking barn. A couple of young ladies walked in at the same time - our wine pourer Steve put us in the same tasting group and proceeded to pour. Since it was Easter weekend - the pourers were wearing bunny ears. Steve is probably in his sixties - so this balding guy with a pair of bunny ears pouring wine was somewhat comical. The wines: - 2007 Chardonnay Reserve: Light, crisp, and delicious with a slight hint of Oak. Would be excellent chilled and served on a hot summer day. - 2006 Cabernet Blanc: Very tasty - almost the color of a light blush - but made with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes - the skins are left in the wine one day to start to give it a tint - but then they are removed. - 2004 Merlot: I can't really articulate what is I did not like about this wine - it wasn't horrible - just not my thing - it was the only wine I tasted that did not resonate with me. - 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon: Smooth with berry notes - would go well with lots of red meat! Fabulous! - Petit Verdot (No Vintage): Made from different batches of wine from different years - so no vintage is assigned to the wine. I'm a big fan of Petit Verdot - and this was one was a doozy. Would go well with red meats, pizza, spicy dishes, and cigars. I ended up buying a bottle of the 2007 Chardonnay Reserve and the Petit Verdot. Excellent winery! Definitely worth the drive for those who persevere all the way down Mt. Gilead Road. After that, save wear and tear on your car and look for their wines in stores. Willowcroft's tasting room is located back in the woods in a rustic barn (HEATED, thank goodness). When we visited, it was overcast and snowing, but on a nice day, there is a nice view from the outside picnic tables. Indoors, there isn't much seating so it won't be a "happening place" with live music like some of the other Loudon vineyards. Willowcroft is the oldest winery in Loudon County (1984) and their wines show their experience. I usually prefer red wines to white, but I ended up bringing home a bottle of their 2011 Harmony - a well-balanced crisp white that was not too dry. I have purchased their red wines in the past including the 2011 Chambourcin, but I never had it warmed with mulling spices. Yum! I could have purchased one bottle of everything I tasted, however I will look for their wines in our local grocery stores and restaurants. Virginia wine fans should have at least one bottle of Willowcroft wine in their collection. read more

What a lovely winery for a relaxed afternoon in the countryside. Several friends and I were in Leesburg for a girls' weekend and we found Willowcroft by chance on a map after visiting another local vineyard. As you approach, the dirt road through the woods opens up to a clearing with a well-maintained Civil War-era barn and a gorgeous view of the mountains. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly dog who lives on the grounds, as well as the winery's mascot Flint, an incredibly sweet polydactyl barn cat who was half asleep in the sun. The staff is absolutely fabulous. They are so kind and welcoming, enthusiastic about what they do, and will bend over backwards to make sure you have a great experience. They truly made the visit special. The barn is beautiful, and would make for a great event venue. There are fairy lights strewn through the rafters, and delicate wrought iron tables and chairs on the balcony. Each tasting room has a unique feel, with the upstairs one having plush furniture and quaint country decor, while the downstairs feels much more like a wine cellar. The air conditioning wasn't working in main tasting room upstairs, but we still took a look around and learned about the different wines. The downstairs tasting room has all of their bottled wines as wells as a variety of cheeses, crackers, chocolate, and other snacks for sale. You are welcome to purchase bottles to enjoy on the grounds (averaging around $25), or you can also order any wine by the glass (around $8), or as part of a flight ($10). Several of us ordered "Flint's Flight," which included half glasses of any three wines, whereas one member of our party did a tasting flight of seven or eight red wines. I had the Seyval, Riesling Muscat-Ottonel, and the Albarino and purchased a bottle of the Vidal Blanc, and the were all delicious; so light, crisp, and fruity, and perfect for a warm summer day on the lawn. We would have been happy to stay all day if it weren't for some other patrons who unfortunately had far too much to drink and made such an embarrassing scene that many members of their group eventually abandoned them there. After asking them if they'd be willing to turn down their boombox, which was loud enough that they had to scream at each other and 20 yards away my group couldn't have a conversation, they hurled insults and threats of physical violence at us, and after their friends left them, each other. Quaint vineyard (pay attention to their website directions it is hard to find-the gps bounces all over) offering a tasting room within beautiful building with ample space. Their tasting flight offers 8 pre-selected wines for $10, with an even variety of 3 whites, a rose, & 4 reds. The bottles are a reasonable price ranging from $22-42. While their wines do stand out, for their smoothness and ample variety, the best part of the experience was our pourer. A delightful gentleman who knows his wine. He provided a lot of insight per wine poured; not only on the label, the name, the grape, but he also discussed other world wines with us such as CA and NZ wine as it compares to the VA varietal. It was an eventful tasting, where we really had a chance to taste, learn, and enjoy ourselves. We weren't rushed through; we didn't just stop in drink and leave. My wife, daughter and I came across Willowcroft Farm while driving around random back roads in Loudon County on an unusually warm November Saturday. Their farm has lovely vistas looking out over a valley with distant mountains providing several nice spots to enjoy their wine outdoors. We wondered into their barn that houses among other things the tasting room. The tasting room has a long bar to belly up to to try any seven of their wines for $10. The folks working behind the bar were very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable on their product. I was the DD and didn't partake but the ladies enjoyed a variety of white and reds. Their fav was the Traminette of which we bought a bottle of to take home with us. All in all a pleasant hour spent on the Catoctin Ridge. read more

This is not your 'typical' Loudoun vineyard. Willowcroft is the oldest winery in Loudoun county, so the focus is on wine vice entertainment. While they have crowds, the narrow dirt road pretty much guarantees it will only attract people willing to go 'out of the way' to get their booze. The winery is set in a Civil War era barn, and has a farm adjacent to it. So if you're looking for someplace that screams 'authentic' and 'rustic', this is the place. $10 tasting (but free with VA wine pass). The wine roster is HUGE. Apparently the wine maker/owner likes to experiment, so the variety is astounding for a smaller winery. You can't possibly do the entire roster, so instead you pick your own flight. That said, I found most of the wines to be crowd pleasers. Nothing bad, but nothing to knock your socks off. The one possible exception was the velvety $35 Assemblage Select, which was nice but still overpriced. The second tier was occupied by the Cab Sav and Petit Verdot, which weren't bad. I admit though; I did buy a bottle of the $20 Fitzrada red, if only because of the price, and I don't always want to open an expensive wine with my pizza! read more

Willowcroft Farm Vineyards - Flights that you can bring outdoors and a great view of the mountains! - Wineries Near Me - Leesburg, Virginia

If you've been reading my reviews with any regularity, you know I do so enjoy me a good Virginia winery. You also know I rarely come across one I don't at least think is "A-OK," usually because I've either Yelped the place beforehand, or because husband and I are touring about with friends of ours who are quite experienced in this arena -- which is how we landed at Willowcroft. Sadly, I wasn't overly impressed by this spot (shhh, don't tell our friends...we like getting invited along on their wine circuits). As one of Virginia's oldest wineries -- and Loudoun County's actual oldest -- Willowcroft gives an impression of resting on its laurels. The bar's been raised on Virginia's increasingly competitive viticulture industry, and for me, Willowcroft falls a bit short. The setting of the winery itself is remote and pretty enough. The concept of a tasting room in a converted barn is wittily fitting, too, considering the hunt culture that pervades Loudoun. From the outside, the barn itself is rustic and inviting, but inside it's dim and confined. The small tasting room feels rather claustrophobic. Tho the ladies leading our tasting were nice, we felt rushed as we flew through the tasting sheet, each tiny pour of wine coming faster and faster with little to no explanation of what we were sampling. We weren't engaged by anyone. "Sorry, we're swamped!" a server exclaimed, dashing off after one pour. There were six other people (to three servers) in the tasting room. Service was clearly thrown off its game on our visit, and our tasting suffered accordingly. The wines themselves were largely forgettable. Normally, this is the part of the review where I'd list what we sampled, but when I looked back over my tasting notes I saw a lot of "OK" and "Meh" jotted in the margins, and I lost my desire. Whites were okay. Chambourcin and Cab Sauv were watery. We did sample lovely a 2010 Albariño, a dry but fruity Viognier-like white, and a pleasing, hearty 2007 Cabernet Franc. After our lightning round tasting, tho, we paid up and dipped. Overall, the wines and whirlwind experience didn't quite seem worth the $10 price tag. We left feeling like virgins on prom night: taken for a ride, and us with nothing to show for it. read more

First, let me preface this review with this statement. I don't consider myself to be a huge connoisseur of wine... I mean, I know what I like and I can generally find it pretty cheap at the grocery store. I go to wineries for the experience, for the ambiance, to get away and enjoy a relaxing day outside the city. I'm not there 100% for the wine, so this review has more to do with the experience, than the actual wine. So... having said that, here was our experience. The guy doing the tastings was very knowledgeable and personable. He joked, we shared a laugh, and he really knew his stuff. He, along with the nice views, get the stars. Unfortunately, the tasting room was a little busy, and he got called off to help out elsewhere halfway through our tasting. The lady doing the tastings I felt was rude.... and here is her story: A customer ordered a glass of wine, and she gave it to him in a small tasting glass, rather than a normal sized wine glass. When he tried to confirm if full glasses of wine should be put into the small tasting glasses, she just kept saying, what would you like me to do about it, I filled it close to the top?! (kind of verbally flailing her arms) and he just kept calmly asking, to clarify, if it was how they operate to put full glass purchases of wine in tasting glasses, rather than the regular sized wine glasses they had right there behind the bar. A very cyclical and unnecessary argument in front of customers. Eventually, she said that you had to be in a special club to have the privilege of using a regular sized wine glass. (Aren't those Members Only clubs fancy?? How thoughtful of Willowcroft to clearly label whose shit doesn't stink by giving them big boy wine glasses!) I could look past the argument, and even the member's only club, IF, after the man left unsatisfied, the tasting lady didn't come back to help us, roll her eyes, and say something to the effect of "thank goodness that jerk is gone". ....*let it sink in*.... Seriously?!? You don't know me... and frankly, I'm on his side. I can understand the argument might have been frustrating for you.... but to tell customers that another (paying and frustrated) customer is a jerk for asking a simple and valid question..... ummmmm..... WHO exactly is the jerk in the end?? To make matters worse, she went on blabbing about how she hated it when "cheap" people came in with Groupons, etc. and just use them and leave without buying bottles of wine. It's kind of ironic, because it seemed like she thought she was being cordial and making pleasant small talk with us. But... umm... I like and use Groupon.... and your company chooses to partner with them. Maybe you shouldn't be openly bad mouthing the customers again and the management's decisions. Left a bad taste in our mouth for this place and we left right after the tasting. Again, the guy doing the tastings was doing a great job until the lady took over, but now that we've tasted it, we probably won't venture down the long gravel road to get here again anytime soon. read more

This place is a bit smaller and more intimate than some of the other wineries in the Loudoun area, but that's what makes it so great. My now-husband actually proposed here in the beautiful little attic area in the barn, and we went back about a year ago for our second anniversary. All of the wine - but particularly the petit verdot - is delicious. I highly recommend splurging and getting the chocolate pairing along with the wine samples - I don't think we had a single chocolate that wasn't amazing. ***3.5 stars*** Willowcroft Farms Vineyards is the oldest winery in Loudoun County. It's small compared to a lot of other newer wineries. They have limited parking, limited outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. Tasting take place in a converted barn. What makes this place a bit unique, in my experience, is that for $10 you can choose to try any 7 wines on their tasting menu. (A couple of years ago it was 10 for $10). They have a much larger selection of wines than other vineyards/wineries. Since I'm not a huge red fan, I was able to taste a bunch of white wines. They give you a dry-erase marker to mark the wines you want to try (see photo). The staff is friendly and even let me and my husband split a tasting - which was great since our kids were a bit restless. We choose the cool-steel chardonnay to try and we got to try the chardonnay reserve too, to compare. We ended up getting a bottle of Albarino (made with VA grown Spanish grapes). The atmosphere outside was extremely peaceful and quiet - not as festive as other wineries (no cornhole, etc). Decent wines here. The tasting room is inside of a barn building, which is kind of cool. The white wines that jumped out at me were the Reisling, Traminette, and the Applause (made from apples). As for reds, the Cabernet Franc was pretty decent, as was the Petit Verdot. My one complaint about our visit was the LOUD group next to us. The girl tasting with them was just talking and kind of getting them even more excited. They guy helping us made a comment to her but she ignored it and kept talking with the group and getting louder. Meanwhile two couples came in and left because although she was no longer serving them, she was too busy socializing with this loud, obnoxious group to notice the customers that were coming in. Pros: Historic Winery, Friendly Staff, Good Range of Wines, Nice Area, Winery Events, Chocolate Pairing Cons: Small, Average Wines, Cramped Atmosphere History: The vineyards at Willowcroft date back to the early part of the modern viticulture era of Virginia. I was told during my tasting that this is the oldest winery in Louden County and possibly the sixth oldest in Virginia. Review: I will start by stating that I arrived at this winery a little late in the day and went when it was cold, windy, snow on the ground, and wasn't able to fully appreciate this winery like I would have. The small parking area was filled with cars for a fondue event they were hosting. The tasting area wasn't too crowded due to the timing, a few couples and people finishing up. The tasting room, located in a barn like building, is somewhat small, not a great area for larger groups if you're wanting to sit down after the tasting. I was unable to see the area outside area, but over-all this didn't appear to be as big as most of the wineries in the Northern Virginia area. I was met and greeted by Lydia. I strongly recommend having her as a server as she's polite, knowledgeable, and friendly. She explained the options and she came to a wine and chocolate pairing (RECOMMENDED) with all of their wines and some chocolates from a local area vendor. I personally think the wines were average and not exactly something I wanted to rush to buy or memorable. I enjoyed them for the most part and even decided to have a glass of their Merlot. Some of their wines have won various awards. I feel if I was going to go back, it would be to have another tasting where I can take a little more time and enjoy the wines thoroughly. Overall, I think this winery is a great place to visit, if not for the wines, for the area, friendly staff, and maybe some of their events. It may be a little small from what I was able to see for a large group of 10 or more while it's cold, but when it gets warmer the outside, it should help. My friend and I did a chauffeured wine tour of Loudoun County and Willowcroft Farm Vineyards was our first stop. This is the oldest winery in Loudoun County and you could tell by their charming tasting room, which was housed in what seemed like a big, old barn. The winery has really nice scenic views outside with picnic tables nearby, making it a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine or lunch on a sunny day. The tasting room is on the small and darker side, so don't plan to hang here if it's rainy. The staff was friendly, though. They had the regular tasting room open for visitors and were housing a tour bus in another area. For some reason they had split the wines between the two rooms, so they didn't have some that were on the tasting list. When I asked for a few, the lady went to the other side where the larger group was tasting and got them. I thought this was a little weird. I paid for the full tasting, why were they skipping some when they had them open and were tasting them? It would be one thing if they just weren't tasting some of the wines that day, but I thought it was odd that they wouldn't have them all on hand if they were tasting them. Anywho, considering this was the oldest winery in Loudoun County, I was a bit disappointed with the wines. The reds were all kind of thin and none blew me away. I did like some of the whites, though, and I took home a bottle of the Seyval Blanc. I was sad to see that they were sold out of the Albarino since I've never seen one of those grown in Virginia before. My friend bought a bottle of the Fitzrada's Reward, which is a Bordeaux-style blend. She generally doesn't like reds, but liked this one because of its light, fruity nature. I liked this one too, but it didn't blow me away. But I go more for thicker, bolder reds. It wasn't that the Willowcroft wines weren't good, I just would have expected them to be the regional expert, seeing as they were there first. Willowcroft Farm Vineyards - Wineries Near Me - Leesburg, Virginia

According to the maps app on my Droid phone, Willowcroft Farm Winery lay at the end of a three-mile dirt road. As my wife and I bounced down the narrow dirt road I seriously questioned whether my navigation unit had lost its digital marbles. Fortunately for me Willowcroft is three miles down a dirt road and after the trip I can report that the wines are very much worth the bumpy ride. We arrived around 2:00 p.m. this past Sunday afternoon and were struck by the beauty of the site. A lot of wineries are beautiful to view but a scant few have a gorgeous view across an adjoining valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains from its hillside location. Willowcroft does. Working behind the counter, Chuck (very helpful) provided us samples of eight wines: five whites and three reds. We tasted an un-oaked Chardonnay, Seyval, Albarino, Riesling, Vidal Blanc, Red blend, Merlot and Cab Franc for only $5 per person. The Riesling and the Cab Franc were far and away the most interesting. I would note for my friends in Iowa that Willowcroft is offering a Traminette this year for the first time - while I wasn't able to taste it, Chuck thinks that it is a good wine. Maybe next time... My impressions of the 2008 Riesling: Pale in the glass. Green apples and citrus profoundly on the nose. Medium bodied with sufficient acidity acidity to stand up to more than the typical Riesling pairings. Best when cold. Flattens out a little when it warms up. Ever so slight hint of tannic astringency at the end - grape seeds maybe? Moderately long citrus finish. Recommended. Second thoughts: The typical pairing for Riesling is with spicy curry dishes, Chinese take out and other entrees which don't seem to fit any other wine. At 1% RS this is not a typical Riesling and combined with an almost Sauvignon Blanc like-backbone it is deserving of more upscale dining considerations than "take out". I think this wine would stand up very well with pasta dishes with butter or cream based sauces - particularly were seafood in the mix. Don't get me wrong: this is not a razor sharp Chardonnay. Firstt of all GREAT VIEWS! The wines were pretty palatable. I enjoyed the dessert wine, which surprised me since I haven't enjoyed a sweet wine in a while. The reds were approachable, but none that really wowed me. The whites were fruity and had nice flavor. The customer service was lacking...the woman doing our tasting poured the wines without enthusiasm or engaging us in conversation. read more

Summary: Although the views were not panoramic, the service we experienced made it outstanding. I came here with a group of friends after receiving a free wine tasting for two because I signed up for the monthly newsletter. The vineyard consisted of a few outdoor sitting tables and a large red barn where the tastings occurred. We were seen within two minutes of us arriving and were helped by THE BEST person ever, JIM. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the wines and sounded genuinely interested in the product. He related stories of his past and gave us clues how to distinguish between wines (we all came with no wine tasting experience). If I could rate solely on JIM, there would not have been enough stars to express our gratitude. At the end of our tasting, he even bought us a bottle. The only reason I could not give Willowcroft a 5/5 was the view. The area itself was small and in terms of picture taking opportunities, it is limited. Nevertheless, I would recommend this quaint vineyard to anyone and ASK FOR JIM :D. Also just a heads up, you CANNOT tip on credit cards, so I suggest bringing a few singles. read more

The Albariño reserve was AMAZING! We came here on part of a wine tour to celebrate our first anniversary and were so impressed. You can tell right away that this is a family owned business that takes pride in their craft. When we drove up, we saw a father and son duo playing tennis which instantly warmed out hearts. Going inside you had grandpa and granddaughter setting us up with a bottle and snack to go with it. The place is extremely peaceful and very animal friendly. An amazing family who has managed to make amazing wine. We will definitely come back!! read more

Great Day Ruined Wines - some of the whites were ok, the reds were marginal at best. Venue - sort of like a country store with one product. Little barn with few tasting rooms. Several dilapidated picnic tables and that's it. Customer Service - Not very customer friendly. First thing they do in tasting room is make it clear that you are not to take their glasses. Really sets the tone for visit. At Willowcroft you are a tolerated nuisance that needs to buy their wine and move on. Honestly if people like glasses here's a brilliant idea - sell them! We had kids. We had a picnic. They did not like that at all. Apparently if you visit there are some hard fast rules. Taste wine, buy wine, leave premises. We had bought 9 bottles for the picnic. There were 6 couples plus kids. We had planned to buy 7 cases of various wines just to support local wines. We bought none. Here is why. The owner was unhappy with our kids playing soccer during the picnic in a tiny field next to the parking lot. He was also unhappy we set up a sun cover over a picnic table and several other things. Ok its his place while there were no posted rules I am good with that. However, here is how he handled it. He struts overs in the middle of the picnic and sits down next to out host "a lady" and in front of everyone lectures her about what he does not like about the groups activities and how he is in business to sell wine. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. 1. He embarrassed the host. 2. If you have an issue take the person aside and communicate as adult to adult. We talked to some of the other staff and they were embarrassed and said he had done this before. I do not patronize businesses that treat people like this. I like to reward customer friendly businesses. We have been to many other wineries in the area who love families and kids so next time I'll skip this country store and go somewhere I am welcomed. read more

I'm fairly new to trying Virginia wines. Honestly, when I moved to NOVA 4 years ago, I had no idea there were so many wineries in the area. I've only had the opportunity to visit a few to date, but I am working on broadening my horizons beyond my California and Italian favorites! When the opportunity arose to visit a couple of wineries with friends, we jumped at it. We visited Willowcroft just a few weeks ago. The weather was perfect for enjoying a bottle outside and Willowcroft certainly has a nice large outdoor area with picnic tables, trees, walking paths and a lovely view. We also enjoyed a visit from the winery cat. The tasting room is set in an old barn. It was cozy, but in my honest opinion this would be a crowded space on a weekend with visitors. There was hardly any indoor seating. The tastings occur at a long counter. We were handed a form and told to select 10 wines. I liked having a choice since I do not like sweet wines at all, but the process seemed impersonal. Once we completed the form and paid, we were quickly taken through the tasting. I felt rushed. The wines themselves were just ok. I didn't dislike them, but none truly stood out as outstanding - perhaps due to the multitude of selections. We did enjoy sitting out with our bottle of wine on this beautiful September day, but I personally would not be in a rush to revisit with so many other wineries to explore! read more

For $15 I purchased a Travelzoo voucher that got me a "spaghetti" (it was penne & two frozen meatballs) dinner, tasting and $10 credit for two. The deal was the only good thing about our entire time there. We walked into the tasting room where three people looked at us with blank states without a "Hello/Hi/Welcome" Once someone finally opened their mouth, we found out we had to go next door. Next door we were again met with blank stares. While waiting for someone to acknowledge us, we overheard maybe the manager and one staff chatting about a group showing up with a voucher but without a reservation. Fine, we'll accommodate them but they need to learn to read the fine print. Do you know we can hear you? Our tasting was only okay. The young lady who finally helped us was nice enough and was pretty informed about the wines. We tasted maybe seven wines and they are all just okay. I liked none of the reds with the Cab Franc just being awful. Way too much tannins. The Riesling was pretty sweet (4% RS I think) while I prefer mine to be drier. Because of the $10 credit we ended up with a bottle of the Cab Blanc which was an okay and a little less RS. I think what really irked my friend and I was the pure and utter lack of customer service. After our tasting we had the dinner slapped on the bar for us to carry to our table. I noticed that the other group received full glasses of wine while they waited for their turn (on the house per the manger) and their food was carried out on real (not plastic) plates just waiting for them to finish. At one point the manager was yelling over our heads to talk to this group. Really lady, come on, how hard is it walk four feet to talk to them? The owner came in and spoke to two tables but ignored ours. Rude. When it was time to close out the lady was busy eating cookies and ringing us up with a full mouth. We can wait for you to finish your snack. We never got a "how was everything/thank you/please come again" just a slapped down credit card receipt. Here's the kicker, I asked to have my leftover wine bagged, "Oh let me cork that for you, I don't like this cork (the original one) here's another." Anyone can tell you that a cork that's been screwed all the way through will leak...and that's just what it did all over the car floor. Between the tolls (hate VA) and the cost of gas, that was $15 down the drain. read more

Not a bad place is you are in the area. They had 10 tastings for $10. When you have that many wines though, how many can you really do well? The locations was pretty cool, the tasting room is in an old barn. The wine was so/so and there was not a lot of personality to the place. read more
