Love, love, love this vineyard. We've tried so many local vineyards, and of all the tastings we've done, this is one of our two top favorite vineyards, based on the quality of the wine. The view driving up to the vineyard is also gorgeous. We did a sampling of all their wines and enjoyed it so much, we purchased several bottles. Also great service, and loved all the detailed information about the wine and their origin! This vineyard is truly grown out of a father's love for his daughter, and it couldn't be more perfect. I've been to a lot of wineries/breweries in this area but this experience was one of the worst. The staff was stand offish and then when the other part of our family showed up with two young children it was an issue. Because we have 11 people including kids that weren't drinking they wanted to charge a $5 grat per person. No problem paying a 20% grat for a large party and then another customer was so rude to my nephew using the F word for no reason. Upon going back in to take our food to go the establishment refunded our money but never kicked out the unruly patron hut made us feel like outcasts. Never to return there. Go to Blumont or Dirt Farms as they are friendly and family friendly. read more

We decided on this place because it's great for both pets and families. Plus, they have a nice selection of food like cheese boards, flatbreads, and sandwiches. The place has a beautiful view and nice picnic tables outside. We tried regular tastings for both white and red wines, as well as some special ones. I particularly enjoyed the Cabernet Franc. I think Virginia wine produces a really good Cabernet Franc. We were a little disappointed because we couldn't purchase a special wine unless we were members of their wine club. read more

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Williams Gap yesterday. The staff member leading our tasting was knowledgeable and personable. He let us try a couple of wines not in the tasting lineup, which was smart because they were the wines I ended up buying bottles of. The reserve wines are to die for - try them if you can! The wine was pretty mediocre, though I only tasted the Vidal Blanc and the round hill white. The setting was okay. The winery is close to suburban sprawl, so you look out on housing developments when you are sitting on the patio outside. They have live music on weekends, which is nice. read more

My friends and I set out to visit this winery and two others on a cold winter day after seeing them as part of a list in The Washingtonian. It was not our first, or even second or third, trip to wineries in Virginia, but all three wineries were new to us. This was our second stop, and after a slightly winding drive up to the main building, we entered a beautiful structure with views of the vineyard. We each ordered a self-guided tasting flight, me, a white, my friend, a red, which was served to us in the most adorable manner: three small, pre-prepared bottles on a wooden board with cards describing each of the wines. We took them upstairs where it was slightly warmer and we could sit overlooking the vineyard through the windows. Unfortunately, we pretty much hated all the wine. I didn't like a single one of the three from my flight, and would have only really described one as drinkable. What would normally be my favorite, an Albarino, was the worst of the bunch such that I didn't even finish it. My friend didn't enjoy the reds much better. We ordered baked brie to go with our wines, which was good, and made them taste better, but a visit to a winery should come with good wine, so I unfortunately don't think I'd come back to this one. If you are looking for somewhere to have lunch with your wine, it had a pretty extensive menu as far as Virginia wineries go, we had just already eaten something substantial so we didn't sample more than the brie. read more

Stopped through here after going to get our Christmas tree and we were pleasantly surprised! This winery is beautiful on the inside, has a peaceful upstairs seating, and we were able to do a seated guided tasting. We ordered the baked Brie and they also had gluten free bread. Our server/guide Afton was super knowledgeable and friendly! Our group liked all of the wine, and our favorite was the Cabernet Sauvignon! read more

My party was the only ones wearing masks. Luckily it was not crowded upstairs. But just not as comfortable patronizing places like this. Points to note: This location is just in a newly developed residential area. The tasting room is not near the residential area so you can still feel like you are away from the city. What a stunning winery to go to! The ambiance was fantastic and we sat next to the fireplace. We were immediately taken care of and received 2 tasting flights, one red and one white. The only reason for 4 stars was their 2023 Albariño wine as it tasted like a dirty sock on a triscuit. Everything else was wonderful. We enjoyed 2 appetizers and a bottle of 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon. They remade it and 10 minutes later we were still waiting for the replacement, which finally arrived. We also ordered a second glass of wine, but I had to go and retrieve from the bar at least 10 minutes later, since the bartender told me she could not leave her station. Finally, I made the mistake of ordering a turkey & provolone sandwich with mayonnaise, and the only mayonnaise they gave me were little packets, of which I had to use four to cover the bread. My husband and I came here on a Friday at the recommendation of Three Creeks, which is one of our favorite wineries. We ordered 2 flights to split and a charcuterie board. I appreciated that we were able to make substitutions to the charcuterie board and basically build our own. The wine was just ok (nothing memorable, but still enjoyable), but the charcuterie board was a true highlight! Tons of meat and cheese for the price. My only feedback is that 1 baguette isn't enough for all the meat/cheese (we bought a 2nd). I'd definitely come back for another charcuterie board and probably just pair it with a glass of wine instead of a flight. read more

Came here with my boyfriend for the first time as we're trying to knock out all the wineries in Virginia. We got one of each flight so that we could share them all. We also paired it with the chocolates they have from a local chocolatier. Ambiance was great and the staff was extremely nice and friendly. The rating is more for the wines as they weren't 100% to our liking. Definitely will come back to retry in a year or so we can re-experience. read more

It's has some winding turns but you feel like you are driving forever to the winery. Love the setup. The woman said all of the wine on site originates from the vineyard. She said the winery itself had just opened not so long ago. She said the vineyard has been selling grapes to local wine makers since 2006. We had two glasses of wine instead of a wine tasting. Williams Gap Vineyard a group of 13 strangers got together and spend the day visiting two wineries.. our first stop was Williams gap winery..I made reservations through Bridgette (the manager) and she was quick to reply to my 100 questions through emails. We had reservations at 12pm and promptly were welcome by Bridgette, the reservation was for outside by she accommodated us inside since it was so hot. The Vineyards is breathtaking , the inside has a kitchen on the second floor were we were seated. Half of the ladies decided to do the rose and the other decided for red and white wines! We had 6 choices each . Ken and Jamie were our guides. Ken was not only informative about the history of the Vineyards, the wines and gave us some food pairing ideas with each wines. Bye bye, Williams Gap! We were members here and visited on Mother's Day. We had a table inside, and two kids from our party went out to play on the hill while we watched from our table. A server came an asked that an adult be present next to the kids. Immediately after this request, two adults from our party went out to stand with the kids as they played. Then a third adult joined them as the rest of the kids went outside. They were not playing in the walls, as their signs stated to stay of the walls. There were no signs stating we had to stay off the hills, only the stone walls. In fact, in prior visits we had picnicked on those hills with no issue. Next a manager came to tell us the kids could not be outside at all and they had to be sitting inside at the table. I questioned this and noted that we were responsive to the last request and we're confused why the proxy seems to have change in a matter of 20 minutes. The manager stated that they are not family friendly, that they are only family tolerant. She didn't acknowledge that maybe their staff miscommunicated the policy. I told her that would make us rethink or membership bc we thought they were family friendly. Next, she proceeded to say, she'd be happy to cancel our membership. I was surprised by this reaction and said that it's pretty terrible they don't care to kindly resolve the miscommunication with people who have chooses to become members. I sat down and thought it was over. She then approached my table and said "is there going to be a problem?" as if she was looking to start an argument for us. She intentionally escalated this for no good reason. It was a completely inappropriate response. I proceeded to tell her they communicated their policy to us two different ways, and we were responsive each time, but that we were annoyed that the policy seemed to change moment to moment depending on who was talking. She proceeded to poorly manage the situation then threatened that I was starting drama and she'd ask us all to leave. I tried to end the conversation, but she clearly had something to prove. She then proceeded to get into an argument with the other adult women in our party. One was trying to get her attention to ask a question and gently placed her hand on the manager's arm, not in a threatening way at all. She immediately backed up and acted like she was being assaulted. She kept coming up with new reasons to defend her stance when we asked questions that were increasingly ridiculous and non-sensical. The whole situation made the non-white members of our party feel unwelcome and violated. Further, multiple other kids were playing outside, not at the table, and not within arm's reach of their parents. We did not see them confront those parents until we complained about the inequity of the situation. The only difference we noticed was their parties were not as diverse as our party. Finally, a third person working there came to tell one of the mothers in our party that the kids could be in certain places outside but they could not be on the walls. Our kids were never on the walls, but that was a third version of the policy we were given by the staff that day. I'm not sure if this was discriminatory behavior, very poorly trained and immature management, or both, but it was certainly not a place We or our friends feel welcome. Further, it reminded me of a prior visit where I recall this same manager getting into an argument with a large table of guests. I gave the winery manager the benefit of the doubt then, but now I am thinking this may be a systemic problem with their management. We purchased seven total bottles of wine (some to consume there and some to bring home), multiple items from their food menu and multiple items from the guest caterer that day. The fact they have zero respect for their customers/members or the decency to politely discuss the miscommunication, especially after we were responsive to their requests, is very telling. What an amazing winery, the drive up through the windy, hilly road through the beautiful vineyards is like something out of Napa or Sonoma and unique amongst Va wineries. I visited yesterday. The winery is fairly new but the owner has been a grower of fruit for years and I have enjoyed it through my support of Delaplane Cellars over the years. The manager Bridget is top notch and I am impressed with the way things are presented.They offer complimentary valet parking which Is an excellent service, I am surprised more wineries here do not. Another plus is that seated tasting are offered upstairs in a beautiful venue overlooking the gorgeous VA country side. White and red tasting flights are available. Wines are excellent with our personal favorite being the red blend which is a remarkable Bordeaux style blend delicious! Where to begin. My daughter and I were on a weekend drive to Virginia to explore wineries. I have to say Virginia is a beautiful state, and some of the wines and wineries do not disappoint. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about Williams Gap. Although the tasting room was beautiful and well appointed; that is where the experience came to a screeching halt. It seems, that whoever owns this place, has gotten to "big for their britches", and runs it like a revolving door business. Absolutely no personal touch at all, and a very cold experience. No one at the door to explain the layout or where to sit. I will say, there was 1 individual, who went above and beyond, to really extend the hand of hospitality. Prior to this visit, we had been to several smaller vineyards. Warm, kind and a great personal experience, with better wines. More willing to switch out a red for a white, or otherwise, when possible. Or try something, off the tasting list. Presentation was awful, with the little bottles. I don't know how they are bottling these wines, or how long they sit in the bottles before serving. Id rather see a cork come out of a bottle, myself. The wine was not good. All the reds were cloudy, when poured into the glass. Looked and tasted like someone who makes wine at home for the first time ( with respect to home wine makers, as they do not have the setup a winery has). Cloudy and bearly drinkable. The tasting bar was not a large area. The attitude was pay for your flight, and go find a seat. 90% of the tables were empty, but reserved. But there was no direction from the staff as to where to sit. Very disorganised. We will not support this business. There are better wines and experiences in the area. read more

Went to William Gap for a bachelorette party and loves the whole vibe of the place and the wine is really good! I normally don't post on social media but the post from Emily A below needs to be addressed. WG is family tolerant which means parents need to supervise their kids, not sit inside while the kids run around outside. I was there that day and 2 boys were playing catch with a football outside. One was above the wall and the other was on the grass in the circle. The ball was going over the driveway used by valet parking. There was 1 adult out there shepherding a toddler and paying no attention to the boys. There were several other non-white kids running wild on the hill above the wall and climbing on the rock outcrop. That is flat out dangerous and those kids were not visible to any party inside the tasting room and certainly not being managed by any adult. I am a frequent visitor to WG and have seen the policy of don't climb on the wall, don't run wild on the hill, no ball playing enforced evenly and consistently. I am pretty sure it was her party at the long table at the front of the tasting room as there were non-white members of the party. I normally sit at a small table on the opposite side of the stairs. That party was loud and unconcerned with the noise they were making; the volume was annoying where I was. A couple seated near the large party came over to get away from the noise. I gave them my table and went upstairs where it was quieter. I assume the 7 bottles of wine makes Emily A feel entitled to act like her party can run the place. Frequent visitors to WG come for the beautiful view, the warm and inviting structure, and the very good wines. It is a place for quiet conversation and reflection. Willingness to spend money doesn't mean you get to spoil the experience for everyone else. "gently placed her hand on the manager's arm", seriously, you think your money spent excuses rude behavior? We visited Williams Gap winery for the first time. I have visited 140 Virginia wineries and my husband is at 138. Today was his birthday! What an amazing experience. The service was outstanding. The food and suggested pairings were spot on! Fabulous venue as well. We highly recommend. And if you are fortunate enough to have Tiffany assist you- well, you will love her level of service.
