A great home furnishing store which understands its customer base is relatively broke college students. I started looking for a mattress when I discovered the one I purchased off Craigslist sounded like an elephant trying to give birth to a dragon every time I attempt to even sit on it. I was afraid a new mattress would cost me upwards $300 with a box spring adding at least an extra $50. After searching google maps for a place to find a replacement, Higgonsons popped up as the closest. I went to their website and saw they had a full mattress+boxspring set for $199. This blew me away and I knew it would probably be awful. However I decided to give them a call to see their other offers. I got on the phone and asked, and lo-and-behold they had mattresses from $199 up to $600+. However they had several under $300. I went into the store and a woman at the front desk showed me to all of their mattresses. I couldn't believe it: the $229 set was amazing! For the price I thought I was going to melt and it was double sided to boot! Not only that, but they had free delivery for back to school! It's normally free delivery on orders above $300 anyway, but this was very special all the same. The four stars is for their selection outside mattresses and some couches. I don't think I would furnish my home here, but for mattresses, you can't beat it! Also recommend going in to see the rest of their products. Your tastes may be different than mine! read more

Cliff Notes Version: They lost the bed they talked us into and later sold us, rush ordered a new one, then we waited the extra week, the bed didn't show up when it was supposed to and we were told "we normally don't cancel orders like this but fortunately this is an item we won't have an issue selling so we can cancel this if you would like us to." Didn't make us feel valued at all for such a big purchase...we ended up canceling. Novel Version: We went to purchase a brand new bed and based on recommendations for excellent customer service, we chose Higginson's. Upon deciding on a bed, the associate told us we could get their last King in the previous model for a closeout price and they'd deliver it on Tuesday (we ordered on a Friday). We signed papers, decided to finance, and got excited! Tuesday came and we get a call saying they cannot find the bed they worked so hard to sell us and they offered to "waive the haul away fee for the old bed, deliver after hours, rush order a new bed, deliver after hours, and gave us 7% discount." We waited a few days and they called us to say they placed the order with the distributor but their stock was 2-days out from them being able to ship it (by this point, we're at 1.5 weeks bed-less) so we waited...Friday comes around (2 weeks bed-less) and we get the FedEx tracking # and it should be delivered Wednesday (YAY!)...so, Wednesday comes and the tracking # isn't showing anything. We call Higginson's and they don't have it and it's too late to call over to the East Coast so we'll have to wait until the next day *insert comment from above about cancelling orders*. They called us back the next day (2 weeks bed-less) and told us the bed never shipped and that they could get it in withing 5-7 business days...we ended up cancelling and closing our finance account with them - was so excited and ended up being so bummed out and disappointed. read more

I have visited the store twice, both times set on purchasing a new mattress. I only bought one complete set up and headboard because it was closeout prices so for a twin mattress, box spring, frame and a headboard it came out to something like $400. I was happy to spend that and it seemed reasonable for a decent pillow top. But when shopping for a queen mattress, we ended up buying the exact same mattress online for a little less than half the price. That was a bit startling to me. I know overhead expenses can be brutal for brick and mortar stores but a cost of more than 100%!? If that wasn't enough, I have just never been impressed with the service we received. One time we visited and the front desk lady was wearing sweat pants and a sweatshirt! I would rate my overall experience lower than 3 stars, but they redeemed themselves after they sold me the wrong box spring for my mattress. I thought it would end up a huge nightmare because we used the mattress for 3 months as our daughter was adjusting to the new bed, so we didn't even realize the mattress and box spring were mismatched until we fully assembled it. Fortunately, they were extremely easy to work with to get it exchanged, but they were still a little peeved because I paid for a twin but they accidentally gave me a twin xl for the mattress so there was a small spiel about that. I bought a mattress and TV console from this store. The mattress was delivered damaged along one entire side and the console doesn't have a knob on one door due to faulty construction. I was told, over a month ago, that the faulty construction would be addressed. Still waiting. I went in to ask about it again and was told someone would call me. Still waiting. I was offered a pillow in exchange for the mattress damage. I don't need another pillow. The other day I went to flip my mattress, I was careful to buy a flip able mattress, but the mattress I got is not flip able. I went to speak with the manager who told me she is sure the salesperson would not have told me it was a flip able unless it was. She absolutely disbelieved me when I replied that I am certain I paid for a flip able mattress and that the flip able I'd paid for did not have three layers of piping, but two. The salesperson was not there. The wrongly delivered mattress is as hard as a rock and I'm sleeping on my sofa until I can afford a new mattress from another place. I could return the wrongly delivered mattress and pay more money for an adequate mattress but I don't trust this store and I don't want to give them more money. I wanted to buy an adjustable bed base, frame, and mattress. It took multiple visits to the store to convince the staff the missing mattress retainer bar and bushings were required to make the adjustable bed work properly. I was told, "you bought a floor model,' as if I was supposed to accept a bed that wouldn't work. I was told that the retainer bar and bushings might not even be available - I called the manufacturer and ordered the part for $29. shipping included. When I told the manager I had ordered the part and would need the delivery guys to come out and pull the adjustable bed base forward, she told me it would be a $25 plus tax. So much for the statement on my invoice that they would do whatever it took to make it right. Since this bed frame, adjustable base, and mattress cost $2000 - I would say find your bed at Howard Hughes, The Furniture Center, or Deranleau's in Moscow before buying anything at Higginson's. read more

Terrible customer service! Never buy on a Sunday, as there is only one person in the entire store. Husband and I just bought a dresser chest here, and no other customers in store. No help or assistance to load the chest. We did not know drawers came out, and when loading into truck, drawers came out. Damage was done to drawer. When I went into as clerk for tape, she showed no real interest in helping and said that we bought the dresser as is. I requested for tape again, she said that she did not want the dresser damaged. I repeated again, the drawer was already damaged. She was of no help and offered extremely poor customer service. She offered to call her manager in Boise and whom she said may not answer her call. If you want to me treated like SOL, this is the place to go. They took the money, but your on your own. She sat at the computer until I sped walked to the outside door. She was far more interested in the computer at half hour after the store opened, with no other customers. We will never go in there again. Extremely dissatisfied. read more
