Where I would go to if I actually lived in a cute Tahoe mountain log cabin that would be featured in a glossy magazine - I live in Tahoe, but it's not in a cute wood mountain log cabin. Despite that, this place is just chock full of beautiful furniture and home goods to make you feel all woodsy and warm. I mean, let's talk pillows - not a house item I would normally care for but obviously I haven't been inspired like the big fat beautiful ones here. Love the lamps and layout of the store. You would be crazy not to check out High Camp Home if you are in the area. But, if you can't, their website is always growing and changing too, which makes it easy for finding awesome and rustic deals. My home is slowly turning into a High Camp Home studded pad. I've had my custom canvas couch for a couple of years and it's probably the most comfortable, easy to clean piece of furniture I've ever owned. My collection of furniture has slowly grown (I now have two side chairs, an awesome mirror and an entry console). When I ordered my couch though, I saw something similar on their website. It wasn't the exact couch I wanted... so I called, and they sent me all of the options and pricing of what I was looking for. I did have to wait a couple of weeks (which is typical of any custom order), but the wait was SOOO worth it. Thank you High Camp Home for making my home AMAZING. read more

Darling home accessories at decent prices. I wish there was a larger selection to choose from. Apparently, they have additional items online, but I prefer to touch and see in person. The employee wasn't too helpful, even when we expressed interest in the barstools. I would still return and make a purchase if needed, as our ranch home is built around this type of decor. read more

This place is so cute and curated with all the best mountain decor for your tahoe home (or tahoe souvenir). I had never been in here before my last trip to Truckee, but love just peeking into the home stores to browse. A lot of the home stores in the area carry very similar items (woodsy, bear statues, signs, wine glasses, etc), but this place has a special touch. They even sell bedroom items and linens, in addition to their living sections. Really high quality pieces, a must look! read more

At first I couldn't see the entrance to the building and I thought they were closed. Once inside I was able to loom around the shop. They have beautiful hand crafted items as well as refurbished things. It is definitely high dollar but well worth it if you are looking for good quality itmes to redecorate your home. read more

What a fantastic experience I had here. We used High Camp Home when designing our restaurant. Diana Vincent was amazing. She listened to our needs while understanding the needs of the restaurant. The space looks amazing. Our customers are always asking where they can get our fixtures or chairs. I do not recommend High Camp Home for Interior Design. My husband and I feel that they have unethical business practices based on our recent experience using High Camp Home Interior Design. We would like to share our story below, and on all review/design sites, for anyone considering High Camp Home Interior Design for hire. Our story...we were planning on building a home in Lake Tahoe. We hired the owner of High Camp Home Interior Design to handle all of the interior aspects for our build. Upon hire, we paid a $20,000 deposit. We never finalized any official start or build date as our plans were still changing. Approximately 10 to 12 months later, my husband and I decided not to build the home in Lake Tahoe. We moved our build to another state. We then approached the owner to see if she would return any portion of our $20,000 deposit. She stated she had already done some work for us. She had in fact already done some work for us - she did a wonderful job sending us building sample materials. No doubt, it took her team some time to put this together. We asked her if we could pay for the work that she had already done, by an hourly rate (which is at an advantage for them). We said to please deduct whatever she felt was fair and can we have the remainder / unused portion kindly returned to us. She then asked if we would instead hire her for our out of state build, and she said she could transfer the remaining unused portion. Ultimately, we said no because we wanted an in-state designer. When I shared our decision with her, she stopped returning my calls and emails. Finally, I tracked her down and she emailed me to tell me no, she will not refund one dollar of our deposit. Before the owner knew of our decision not to use her for any future projects, she had emailed me stating: A) Her firm had, to date, spent 41 hours so far equaling $6,000 of their time on our project. Which we, of course, had NO problem to pay. That left approx. $14,000 of unused funds on the table. B) She also had stated that our ask for a refund on a canceled project was a very unique situation for her. She said she had not dealt with this situation before so let her think about how to handle as she wanted to come up with a fair solution for both sides. (which my husband and I agreed with - we wanted to be fair on both ends). We feel that it is very unethical to not return the (acknowledged by the owner herself) unused portion. Or even a smaller portion for that matter. We were clear that we didn't want all of the deposit back, but did think it was fair to receive a portion back to us. The owner does seem great if everything is going perfectly, as planned. However, problems on builds do arise (often). I, personally, want a firm that has a high level of business ethics so when unique situations arise, they are handled with honesty and integrity. read more

Decent place to get ideas and look around. Beautiful design work and furniture pieces. But don't expect anybody to help you or be welcoming in ANY way. Literally said nothing after being in store a bit and didn't even acknowledge we were in store until I finally asked a person sitting behind a desk. Kindly answered my question but had no interest in providing any other help. Amazes me how a place like this stays in business or even bothers to have a retail location.... Move it to an industrial area and get cheaper rent. Looks like quite a few people from what I have read and seen have similar impressions. read more
