I have been golfing here for the last 3 years, but after today (5/22/2026), I will never come back. My wife and I were golfing on the executive course when a golf ranger told us, very rudely, that my daughter could not join us. The front desk staff tried to make things right and explained it was due to a new insurance policy, which I understood. However, the golf ranger later came back and seemed like he was trying to pick a fight. This was some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. That employee should not be representing this course. There are plenty of other golf courses out there -- save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

DONT GO HERE. so many way better places to golf in the area. This golf course used to be so fun and enjoyable. They just changed there policy "no spectators, so I can't go hang out with my bf when he plays cuz I only play occasionally. They are gonna loose a lot of business. They went with a cheep insurance that's why they can't have spectators. It's a fun activity to just be out here. Won't be comming back ever. read more

High Cedars has been my local course for 50 years. Uncooperative staff has been a trademark even back to when Wally Statz owned the place. But it was fun to play there. Then they built the 9 hole course. Everything changed. Worst of all they flipped the front and back nines. It ruined the fun. Suddenly you finish on the hardest hole instead of the easiest. So you walk off the 18th unhappy. Not the greatest business move. So, I no longer play there. read more

Decent course too pricey for how torn up the course is at this time, non pleasant workers at the front desk to, failed to take down our tee time earlier in the week an told us we'd be shit out of luck if it was busier when we showed up not how you talk to someone, think his name was Brent or brenda, see other complaints on him from other customers should be fired by now! read more

About the only thing that has improved is the Greens... Other than that this place has become greedy... Solid course but the new Green fees, as well as now refusing to do any Fundraiser events is extremely disappointing. I will admit I am rather new to golf, but I mostly spend my time on the driving range working on my technique. I like this course but the staff were not very friendly in the pro shop when I was asking questions. I get it, I have grumpy days too, but I don't take it out on members of the public. I would rather deal with short staff and longer wait times that people who treat me like I'm inconveniencing their phone scrolling time. Nevertheless, I like the range and I like the course so I will likely continue to return. Prices are fair and the staff out on the green and surrounding areas are much more friendly. read more

Played there yesterday. Front desk guy was a real piece of work. Completely not friendly. Abrasive, non-welcoming and probably should not be in the people business. I've seen other reviews where people have the same thought about him. He might be the owner. Can't say for sure. He might live on site in a big ass RV. Can't say for sure. I can say for sure he's a miserable fella with horrible brown teeth. We had a 4:30 tee time. He said carts must be back by 8:30. I told him I'll do my best. He said we'll just come get it. And by gosh that's what they did. If you're going to have 4:30 tee times that come with a cart and pace of play is the typical 4 and 1/2 5 hours for a round,. Why not just don't do any tee times that include the cart after 4:00? Well the answer to that is quite simple. They made $40 off me and my partner for the cart rental $20 per person. The whole round cost $110. Not really objecting about the price that's fine but the guy's a horrific human. He is a dick. Skip this course of you can. read more

Our 16 person RLGA Golf Tournament was cancelled due to course maintenance on the same day of the Tournament...NO one contacted me prior to the cancellation, even though they had my contact information, name, phone number email address. Called for a tee time and was placed on hold. After over 10 minutes I hung up and called back. Again, I was asked to be placed on hold. I replied I just hung up after holding for 10 minutes. The guy was a jerk state there were 12 calls hold. 1. It would have been nice to know how many calls we ahead of me when I originally called. 2. I only called for a tee time because earlier in day I called asking why GolfNow's and their website's tee times were not in matching. The answer provided was GN was wrong!! I would have been pissed if I booked a tee time on GolfNow only to find out when I got to the course it was double booked. read more

We're from out of state and played with a friend who goes to High Cedars regularly. Overall, it was a good experience. Staff was nice--particularly the gentleman working outside as the starter. Very friendly. Food prices very reasonable. The course was busy on a Wednesday afternoon and the pace was pretty slow. On the course itself, the fairway grass is kind of made of up thin blades (I was told its poa anua) and there aren't that many spots where it's lush. Was kind of surprised by how tricky the undulation of the big greens was for such a public course. Definitely a lot of breaking putts, even on shorter ones. High Cedars isn't a place I'd love if I lived in the area, but it was a good to experience read more

5 years ago, I would have given this place a 2 star, not anymore. I have seen major changes at High Cedars in the past years. The course is in excellent condition; the grounds crew must be hard at work to make this a go to location. My interaction with the staff was pleasant. read more

Brought my 4-yr old son out on a rainy Wednesday morning to avoid crowds. After getting 5 holes ahead of the group behind us, I let him hit into the hole from 50-yards out. The Marshall with the beard comes in on his high horse saying angrily "ONE GOLFER ONLY" and drives off, leaving me with a crying 4-yr old who had been having his best day up to that point enjoying the game. Not to mention $90 for 9-holes and both of us in a cart. It's hard to continually give this course chance after chance and always leave disappointed. I can no longer recommend this course to anyone I know. read more

High Cedars offers a variety of what you need as a golfer. Obviously it has a great 18 hole golf course and a 9 hole executive course which is challenging. Both courses are very scenic. They also have a covered practice range with quality golf balls and well marked yardages. They have several teaching pros if you want lessons. The putting greens are very well taken care of. The eating area is below average which didn't take away from the golf outing. Pro shop could use an upgrade, it was overpriced and few selections so bring what you need. Although they do have rental clubs and pull carts. Price was a good value considering how great the course was maintained. read more

Golf course was great~ Staff was terrible, rude and no helpful in anyway! We had left something in one of our carts and even the cart guy was a tool. Cart seats were wet, when we asked for a towel....the guy at the desk shuffled away and finally found one, most windshields had holes or cracks in them. Unfortunately, this club and it's management have gone downhill. They have come to accept a grossly slow pace of play, and are unwilling to adjust to accommodate patrons. We have witnessed this on our last few outings to high Cedars. Today we were amongst multiple groups of unhappy players, slowed up by a ~6hr round foursome. Management refused to let the foursome break up into two twosomes to speed up the pace of play, even though the players were more than willing to do so. I would recommend taking your money to local courses such as The Classic, Spanaway, Lake, or Alenmore, where staffs care about their customer's enjoyment. read more

Would leave 0 stars if I could, the course is very poorly maintained and has greens that are harder than a rock. If you're expecting to have a good round here you will not, nothing will stay on the green at all!!!! And even the fairway and rough seem to be very hard and hurt to hit on. read more

The course itself is in great shape and the staff was accommodating but the pace of play was ridiculous. We were behind a foursome that had no concern whatsoever who was behind them or how far behind they were. At one point there were 4 open holes in front of these gentleman. And worse of all, no marshal in sight. I love the course but think twice before playing it again. read more

Left my clubs at the course. Got a call to come get 'em. Walked into the club house where the GM was working. I greeted him w a smile and explained I was there to p/u my clubs. With all but a snarl he asked me "Why'd you leave your clubs here?" Seemed like no one had done that before. Initially he said he couldn't help because he couldn't leave the pro shop. Another employee walked in and was able to walk me over to pick them up. We can all have bad days and might not always be on our best game, but I have a life hack for the GM..... don't make your first move being a dick to anyone who approaches you in a friendly manner. read more

This review has nothing to do with COVID. As far as this facility is concerned, COVID doesn't exist; save for a few remaining social distancing signs. So any excuse of poor customer service due to COVID is negated. This review has everything to do with how the staff handled our special family visit today. Due to this facilities intense and extreme rule adherence we were unable to rent carts due to their Twilight rule the first time we visited, back on Father's Day. Since they do not issue refunds they issued a rain check good for credit at their facility only. Smart business move on their part. Pretty much an "all sales are final, no refunds" policy, which I don't actually recall seeing being posted anywhere. The check-in counter staff were nice enough and tried to work within their strict policies to accommodate a totally disappointing experience at their facility. Twice. We left the first day with a $120 rain check. We left today with an additional $250 rain check! My Three sons were attempting to take me out again for Father's Day golfing. Unfortunately, yet another strict rule of this facility is no parties of more than four on the 18-hole "expert" course. That is what we had planned. However, a friend of one of my sons unexpectedly came in from out of town. So of course we integrated him into the group. However, instead of renting two carts and staying together as a party of four, the course Marshall (laughable title and person) informed us that we would have to split up into a party of two and a party of three. He made an old-men's-club-esque vulgar comment about how sniffing cocaine off a stripper would be acceptable on the course to management, but he was under strict orders to never allow parties more than four. A classless establishment as far as I'm concerned. Just because you're not charging the green fees of Druids Glen or Chambers Bay doesn't mean you have a license to behave like that. It doesn't cost a person anything to be classy, helpful, friendly, empathetic, and accommodating ...unless they apparently work at Nigh Cedars Golf Club. As if the club staff at the tee Box didn't ruin things enough by making us feel as inadequate as possible -and as hurried and rushed as possible- some old-buddy, elderly men waiting to tee off behind us decided to share how much they didn't like being delayed. The "Marshall" even went so far as to announce "We're going to have to have you guys hurry it along because we have some professional golfers here waiting behind you." This was within earshot of the "professional golfers", which very effectively humiliated myself my three Eagle Scout sons and their friend, my guest. It has been a long time in my 52 years since I have been humiliated like that. That takes a special set of tactlessness and ill-intent to achieve. I'm a pretty forgiving guy and like to get along with most people. I'm not part of an old boys club. Nor do I ever want to be a part of this pro-old-boys-club Golf Club. Giving this business a chance to make up for ruining our first attempted visit with them on Father's Day, they actually managed to do significantly worse on the second attempt. Working to be as anti-Nordstrom as they possibly could, they stuck to their "rain check" for next time policy. The office manager did refund $68 to my card for the carts we were forced to abandon. Then they "offered" to have us go to the "less-skilled" nine-hole course as a solution. One of the staffers was actually so oblivious to the situation he called out "have fun!" as we abandoned the three golf carts and carried our bags to the nine hole t-box. I was a little confused by the experience. We were made to feel as if we were at PGA level course, instead of Orting's po-dunk neighborhood course, who knew there could be so much belligerence, ignorance, lack of customer service? Especially at a small-town/neighborhood course. Offering to hold my money in the form of a rain check until I can come back and give them a third chance to fail horribly didn't seem like a very good solution, except for them, and they're accounting department. We're talking about a total of $306 in rain checks to this business. So, the moral of this story is buyer beware! Novice/beginner and intermediate golfers are not welcome on their "expert" 18-hole course; there are "professional golfers" that will need to play through there. Rather than play through with the backup choice of the nine-hole course, I told my three sons and visiting friend I'd had enough for the day. A trip to the dump to drop off garbage sounded more enjoyable at this point. We left. If I can successfully dispute the charge with Visa I will never return to high cedars golf course with my family or any of my friends. What started out to be a fun day with making my sons and guests breakfast turned into maximum-stress day and a quiet ride home. Thanks for nothing "Nigh" Cedars Golf Club. read more

The old man in the club house that only works spring/summer in the mornings is incredible rude. He along with the managers son (Brett) both tend to overcharge and if you dispute the charge they tell you to go play elsewhere and swear at you. I've been in line and had a Father call out Brett for using the "f" word towards his teen son and asked for an apology but Brett laughed and would not. They constantly raise the rates on both courses but there is no improvement on either course. The executive course is very overpriced and not kept up well. My advice .... go golf at Tapps island. The people there are very nice/helpful. The course there is so much better than high cedars . They take great care of it. High Cedars is over priced and the people in the club house are extremely rude with the exception of Bobby. He is a gentleman ... read more

I have been to this course anywhere between 15-30 times. The course is pretty nice and the staff has usually been respectful. I did have a negative interaction with a staff member when I called in recently and asked a simple question, which never got answered. The staff at the restaurant has always been nice and helpful as well. I started off giving this course a 3 star because of that negative interaction, but I love the course overall and believe a 4 star is more appropriate. It would be unfair to give it only a 3 star because of the one person that I had the negative interaction with....which after reading other reviews, seems to be a common issue that will hopefully get addressed. read more

The course is fine ......... the men who work in the pro shop checking the public in are horrific!!! Terribly rude, never a smile, thank you, or anything pleasant at all to say. Just unbelievable rudeness. There was a woman that worked there last year who we spoke with a few times and she was very helpful and always pleasant. Last time She checked us in she said it was her last day. Probably our last day golfing there as well. We have met many people who golf since moving to Orting and they've all said" don't go to High Cedars because of the grouchy men being the counter at the pro shop!!!
