With our 2026 Subaru rental, what could go wrong?? Well about an hour out of Bend, OR, we had a flat tire. High Country Automotive popped up as a reliable shop, so we called and Shawn said he could help us out immediately, even though it was getting close to closing. Despite it being a screw that had made a pretty big hole in the tire, Shawn took the time to put three layers on it so it would hold. Each layer required setting time in between, but he did not rush the process so the patch would hold properly. My husband and I were a little nervous thinking that since we were obviously from out of town and undoubtedly in a bind with no other options, that Shawn would charge us much more than would be the normal cost for such a tire repair. He did not do that, though. He charged us a more than reasonable price. He was pleasant to hang out with, and his beautiful dog, Freckles, provided us with affection and entertainment while we waited. Shawn got us back on the road and back to our vacation without breaking the bank. We would definitely go back to him if anything were to happen again when we return. read more

We stopped by here on a long road trip because our check engine light came on. The business turned out to be closed but because I wasn't from anywhere close, we called the number on the door anyway. The owner of the shop not only answered, but dropped what he was doing and came straight to us to help - we later found out he was actually in the middle of buying a car in an another town ! He ran codes and we determined I didn't need work and we'd make it the rest of the way home, never once pushed a service of any kind. I offered to pay for his time and he waved me off several times. He's about as honest and genuine of a guy as you could ask for. We wish his shop was closer to us in Colorado. read more

Shawn saved the day for me on a Sunday morning where nobody was open or answering phones. I picked up a flat tire between La Pine and and his shop. Facing the prospects of driving 350 miles home on a spare donut or getting a hotel for the night until other big box tire shops opened Monday morning- neither option was a great option. Fortunately for me, Shawn answered the call, and agreed to meet me at his shop and find a safer, more reliable short term solution to get me home the same day. He had a quality used tire on hand that he mounted, balanced, and ended up fitting the bill perfectly. Though a different brand from my original tires, the tread pattern ended up needing almost exactly the same. Long story short, the repair was quick, fairly priced for a weekend rescue, and got me home with a smooth ride to top it all off. Worst people in the world to deal with rude customer service they charged $600.00 to hook a tow rope up to my car up to set it back on the road.Threatening to refuse service and leave me stranded after waiting hours for there arrival both were aggressively scolding my predicament and saying there was damage done to my car that wasn't even there . They refused to even get in their car or accept the job until they got a up front payment and then refused to be able to find my location. read more

They arranged for the tow with a company who worked with my roadside assistance to save me $. They did a complete diagnostic. They thoroughly explained the problems and researched ideas to help us safely and economically get back on the road for our 7 hour drive home. We got hauled into High Country Automotive at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon with our 2004 Ford E350 lifted, 4X4, converted camper van. When the flat bed pulled up, the place didn't look like much. Looks were deceiving, they were amazing. Our V10 triton engine had spit out a spark plug. Bruce, the mechanic, knew immediately what the problem was; he installed a heli coil plug insert in the aluminum cylinder head because the threads were buggered and had us back on the road by 6:15. The owner, Shawn, was taking care of other things but checked in on Bruce's progress regularly and no one complained about staying late on a Friday. The bill was much lower than I would have ever guessed, which was greatly appreciated. I would give then ten stars if that was an option. read more

These guys went above and beyond to help me address the service engine light that unexpectedly came on while I was driving in my van yesterday headed from Bend to the Bay Area. They were proactive in getting started, transparent about what was needed and also didn't mind me asking questions about their processes and the parts (I'm trying to learn more about car mechanics!!), overall just extremely gracious and also fun to hang out with! The owner's wife even went and picked up the part needed for the repair!!! Price was extremely fair and I feel so much gratitude for their efforts in helping me get home safely. *** Review from 2/5/2019*** I was heading home from Bend to the San Francisco Bay Area with my 20ft car trailer loaded with a car in tow when I lost trailer brakes. Being that a storm rolled through that previous weekend the roads from Bend to High Country Automotive and down towards to OR/CA border were still icy and not ideal to be towing without trailer brakes. I pulled into High Country and they were very helpful. They came right out and spent the better part of a half an hour plus in the sub freezing temperatures testing the truck and trailer to see where the problem might be. Upon diagnosis, it was a part they could not get for anywhere from a few hours to potentially the next day so they referred me to a trailer repair shop in Klamath Falls. I have since forgotten their names, but I thank them for their time and getting me back on the road knowing what needed to be addressed. Thanks Again Guys! If I am ever in need of repairs in the area again I will not think twice about coming back! read more

We were on the first day of a ten day road trip and we made an idiotic mistake which ultimately required immediate repair of our car. We called the nearest place which happened to be High Country. They didn't have the part we needed but they sourced one for us and offered to have the car ready to go the next day (on a Saturday when they're usually closed). They booked us a hotel room 17 miles south and gave us a ride, picked up the part for us in another city, picked us up the next day and had us back on the road before ten in the morning.
