I was told my motorhome failed the smog check because the catalytic converter was bad. It was only three years old. They charged me $2600 and wanted the money upfront. That was $1,000 more than the one three years earlier cost. I told him to let me know if it didn't pass smog after the new cat was put on. Instead he called me saying I owed him another $1400 for replacing two plugs and coils! When I balked at it because he didn't have my permission to do the works, he got snotty saying he could put the crappy old parts back on but it would ruin the new cat. At this point I couldn't trust him to remove the new parts and not sabotage something else, so I paid him. This weekend, I drove the motorhome on a 180 mile trip and it still runs rough. In fact, it runs worse than before. I had planned to replace the plugs, coils and fuel injectors myself before he replaced two without my permission. Now I have to do it anyway because he only replaced two. Who only replaces two?!! Most of the work is in getting access to them in a class C. Thoroughly disgusted and definitely know he ripped me off. I would leave zero stars if that were an option. read more

I called multiple places that were recommended by friends, and ultimately went with this shop both on a personal recommendation as well as their published reputation. I can't say enough good about the quality this shop has in both professional standards as well as personal touches. Brett and Lori made it feel like getting some help from a long-time friend and less like a business transaction. We took our Motorhome here for quite a bit of work. We had a front end issue, an electrical issue and our generator would not stay running. After having bad experiences with the other RV repair places in the high desert along the freeway we heard about High Desert RV. We stop in and talked to Brett the owner after a trip that didn't go well. We could tell Brett knew what he was talking about and made an appointment to drop off. Brett battle with our extended warranty company which you know wants to short change you or send used parts for the repairs. He found we had a bad generator and fought to get us a new one not used and fixed all our other issues. After taking it home we had another problem. We came out a week later and our coach was dead with no power anywhere. We couldn't get it started and the whole coach was dead. We couldn't jump it or anything so I called Brett. Since we work all day he said drop your keys with me and I will come get it and he did while we were at work. He has found the problem and come to find out it was a module that is no longer available draining the batteries. Not being able to get the part he figured out the cause and a fix and we're back in business. There was so much more done I could go on for a while but here's the bottom line. If you want a honest and very qualified person to take your RV to this is the place. Took our RV there only 6 months old and our RV fridge was getting up to 54 degrees. Was diagnosed and approved by Mike Thompson RV. Fridge installed but MTRV never paid High Desert Auto & RV. This company waited patiently for payment even though they did their job. They did a great job all around from start to finish. They understand what customer service is all about! I highly recommend them and we will continue to use them too. They are fair in their prices and get the job done as promised. No BS like we got from Mike Thompson RV. Came here to get an inspection on a used car I was interested in buying. Brett was the mechanic who I dealt with and he was exceptional. He was a great advocate for me as the buyer and asked me questions I hadn't thought to ask the seller. He gave me some great advice on dealing with the pesky DMV given my specific circumstances. For a fee of $100, he went through the car with a fine-toothed comb and gave me a report on his findings that was incredibly detailed. I get much better about purchasing the car after getting this report and following Brett's advice. Highly recommend him in particular. RE: Motorhome Repairs- Was passing through on our holiday vacation travels when our motor home broke down on the highway and was towed into Brett's shop for repairs after quick research to find a quality shop! Met Brett then and he looked over the diesel motor and found the A/C compressor was completely frozen up and spun off the belt all of which needed ordered and replaced. Brett promptly offered for us to stay onsite as we were living in the motorhome on the trip and await the parts order and repairs needed. Brett and his family and staff were so helpful and caring with us and we are so grateful. The costs were fair and the service was top notch and are a hard things to find today. So I came here with my wife after we went full time and bought an RV from a dealership that had tons of problems. We were driving it from LA to Reno and wanted to make sure it was road worthy. We brought it in right before a 4 day holiday weekend and were told that it wouldn't be ready for a week. We told the owner that we lived in our RV and he called his other people and got ours done in 3 days! It was amazing because there was a ton of things to get done. Honestly it may be a little more to go here but don't let that deter you because if you go to one of those cheap places around then you'll end up here anyways to get your issues fixed right. High Desert Auto & RV fixed my RV when 5 other RV shops said can't help you. Brett is professional, knowledgeable and patient. He explained the issues of the RV and what needed to be done and did it. He helped me get my RV back on the road. The "Diesel Particulate Filter" had become clogged and needed cleaning. Brett explained what it is and what it does and took it off and had it cleaned and put it back on the RV. He then updated the codes for the computer on the engine. While his shop is busy he took the time to work on the coach and get the part cleaned and serviced and running. read more

I had a Blue Ox tow setup installed and two 6V house batteries replaced on my class A in July 2016. I called on a whim while passing through town to compare pricing from other places and was connected with Brett. I was immediately impressed with his attention to detail. He asked me question after question about my rig, tow car, travel plans, etc. What I expected to be a five minute pricing conversation turned into a 30 minute investigation by Detective Brett. No selling, just detailed and technical explanations of each decision I had to make. I ordered the parts, dropped the rig off a couple of days later and it was done a few days after that. Brett met with us outside of normal work hours and spent over an hour making sure we were versed on every aspect of the tow setup before he sent us on our way. I had an exalliary tank put on by Desert Automotive, two years ago and when the fuel pump or valve goes out, they always replace it fee of charge. Brian gave me a lifetime warantee. Can't beat that anywhere. The only problem is, it seems to me that Napa could come up with more reliable parts for this system because it is a headache to bring my truck in there often to replace faulty parts. I went in to get the starter tested for my boat. Brett was very helpful and efficient. He explained what was wrong with my starter in terms I could understand. Unfortunately, I have to revise my review of High Desert Auto & RV from my initial glowing review. We initially took our motorhome in for an alignment. I was told the bushings are worn and they would need to be replaced. OK, how much? I was told Freightliner no longer sells the bushings and would need to purchase the entire leaf spring for $2,000 plus labor. I was about ready to move forward, but had the coach serviced and the guy said to take it to Colton Truck Garage. Today, I had the RV aligned for $290, no bushings nor spring assembly required. Pretty shocked that this guy tried to take us for a ride as he seemed legit and that he truly was trying to get us a fair price.
