This company claims to know it all and they have ex Chevrolet mechanics. They were trying to get me to replace the whole harness to my truck but I ended up take it to the dealership which I should of then from the start. This company was charging me $5000 to do the job so I went to the dealership after all. The dealership found the issue and it only cost me $550 it was an electrical box that had to be replaced thats all. There was no need to replace the whole harness to my truck . these guys ripped me off over $ 750 with a repair that i did not need plus the diagnostic they charged for a radiator flush two months later fluid all over the tank and inside engine area found out by a real repair shop they fixed wrong thing it was a thermostat not a bubble in radiator lines they tried in past to overcharge me on a tune up since i said no they got mean and said to get my car out of their shop in 24 hrs then they blocked all calls on my phones and my ability to get anything they fixed done in the future thus dening me any rights to warranty on the work done i am reporting them to auto bureau this is TERRIABLE to put me thru this then the owner brings up things to try to look good saying they will pray for me and all this bad hype about me typical way to make the buyer look bad and to try and get away with terriable service. Honda of Victorville is a joke. A 100,000 mile check and tune up. They changed the CVT oil, and engine oil. 1300$, and the skid plate came loose after 100 miles and dragging !!!. It gets better.... The brakes were gone, low radiator coolant.. and no diagnostic analysis. Why didn't a Honda dealership notice this at an inspection that I paid for ????? I'll never go to Honda V.V. again. If I could give 0 stars I would. Made an appointment to have my vehicle towed in due to it over heating. I called them and they were aware vehicle was on its way. I called hours later to check if my vehicle showed up and they apologized for not letting me know and will call back with a update. No response until the next day and was told that they cant find anything under there free inspection but they can do more tests for around $158. I agreed and I get a call hours later that it has a blown head gasket. They gave me a price of over $4100 to do the head gasket but said they wouldn't recommend it cause it has a lot of miles and would suggest a rebuilt engine that would cost me over $4800. (Vehicle is worth less than $5000). I paid the $158 and had it towed to another place that ran test and it did not have a blown head gasket but actually it was just a faulty water pump and replaced it for less than $200. They will over charge you and tell you there is things wrong that is not true. Very dishonest business. STAY AWAY read more

Phenomenal customer service. Great waiting area. Really makes a difference! My car suddenly had some warning lights come on while driving on a long drive- I had 3 hours ahead of me so I didn't want to risk driving with warning signs on. Kay Jay's was the closest auto shop that was open so I prayed the car would make it there. Fortunately my car made it and I was able to check out this wonderful repair shop. Again, first impression, the waiting area is very comfortable, clean, and stands out compared to your average car shop. They have snacks and everything. Next- you can't run a business on just having a nice waiting area- and they matched up on their level of service as well. They ran a very thorough preliminary inspection to see what was wrong with my car and even checked my tire pressure and checked the all the fluids while they were at it... and it was ALL complimentary. They checked my battery levels, etc.. Ultimately they didn't find what was exactly wrong without needing to dive deeper and run more tests, but they gave me their analysis on what it likely could be. Honestly it was very thorough and actually helpful. They didn't just pretend to look at the car and try to get me to replace something just to see if it might work. I couldn't leave my car and stay all day because I still had a long drive ahead of me, but they cleared all my codes and said most likely I would be okay to get to where I was going.. and sure enough they were right. I made it to my destination and so far the car has not been giving me any issues. Just having the piece of mind from a mechanic saying it "should" be okay was assuring and sure enough I did make it. I came here a while back to get my celica diagnosed for the check engine light relating to some evap codes. They went through some test, and during the smoke test they said my fuel cap needed to be replaced and I decided to order a new one and bring it back the next week. Turns out it wasnt even the cap and they never checked underneath the car and it was actually my fuel neck. Quoted me $300 for the part and $300 for the labor totaling around $700. Asked for the part number and looked at me like I was nuts. Part was only $200. Told them I'm declining that and I'll fix it myself. It was a rather easy job and definitely not worth $300 of labor it only took me an hour. I wanted them to finish the rest of the testing because on the paper it was still stated as incomplete and they did not finish. But when I asked if they would still complete the testing for other leaks during the smoke test they said to complete the testing it would be another 2-300$! They couldve just taped it up and continued because turns out that didnt get the light off even after fixing it myself. They even proceeded to say "well actually the testing is only for 2 hours but we spent 3 on it.." But never said anything about it!! My car was there for a total of 3 whole days. read more

They quoted me for lower control, arms and tie rod ends to be replaced because I was hearing a clunking. They ordered the parts for me for $1400 which I paid for and I was a little skeptical that the lower control arms would be making that noise so I looked at it myself. I found out that the swaybar links that they had recently replaced two months ago. We're not tightened down all the way and that's what was making the noise and when I took it back to them, they were still saying that I needed the lower control, arms, and Tyrod ends to be replaced and they wanted another $1500 for labor. I brought both of my cars here, praised their customer service, and even recommended them to two fellow Navy service members--each of whom spent around $800 based on my word. I even left them a glowing review in the past. But after today, I regret every word. I came in because a check engine light had previously pointed to a thermostat issue. Although the light had turned off before my appointment, I still showed up out of respect and caution. James, who's normally great, walked me out to speak with the technician. The technician went over the thermostat replacement but also recommended what seemed to be unnecessary repairs. They quoted me two outrageous options--one for over $1,200 and another over $1,800. When I asked if we could just fix the thermostat, the original and only known issue, I was flatly told no. That's when I realized something was off. The customer service I used to rave about was gone. I felt pressured and boxed into spending way more than necessary. I reluctantly agreed to the $1,200 option, but before I'd even gotten five minutes down the road, I turned around and canceled it. My gut told me I was being taken advantage of--and I was right. I took my car to three different, reputable mechanic shops after this. Every single one confirmed the only issue was the thermostat. When I showed them the quote from Kay Jay's Auto AFTER their assessments, they all said I was being scammed. All three shops gave me estimates under $300. That's not a small difference--that's flat-out exploitation. I feel completely lied to, scammed, and betrayed by a shop I once trusted. I never thought I'd say this, but I will never return to Kay Jay's Auto. I'll also warn anyone who'll listen to stay away. Their behavior today wasn't just disappointing--it was shameful. People very friendly service time was good for our schedule. I took my wife's car here twice for service. 1st time I was told plugs and coils and maybe water pump. When I went to pick up the car the water pump issues were undectable so I wasn't charged for the water pump issue drove car next day engine light comes on so I called to make another appointment to find out it maybe a water pump issue or an update problem which they didn't have. I had a slight oil leak after a recent oil change. I showed up without an appointment and they took me right in. They resolved the problem while I waited. The problem was taken care in an hour. My wife and I have been having our vehicles serviced here for over 2 years. Great service and we wouldn't go anywhere else. On a side note there was another customer getting work done. He had an issue that was scheduling some work done. He had a rather unique situation about not being able to leave his car overnight. I was very impressed by their response in helping him work through the problem. They didn't have to do anything to hello this gentleman, but they went the extra mile. It had nothing to do with the car repair, they did it because they cared. Customer service this good is difficult to find these days. I sent my brother to this place for transmission repairs based on the Yelp reviews for Kay Jays. He got an estimate from Kay Jay's for $13,000. Of course, he told them no thanks. He went to another place, and they told him he was using the wrong transmission oil. They changed the oil and did a full engine check for him for $700. He did have to go back because they had to order the correct oil and other items. What a rip-off. People may think Kay Jay's is a great place, but make sure to get a second opinion. The young lady was attentive and notified me the inspection was complimentary. I waited for them to tell me what the plan was and then was sent a text message with the findings. The waiting room is comfortable, with a large TV and you are able to grab snacks and coffee/tea while you wait. Took auto in for AC service. Was told that it needed a "re-charge" which would cost around $450.00. Freon for a full charge costs only $34.00 so they wanted over $400.00 in labor to screw-on a fitting and let the gas in. This took over an hour and a half. I then went to AutoZone for the DYI kit and was talking to an employee who stated that there was a Great place down the road that was honest and reasonable. I thanked him and went down to check it out. Within 15 minutes, the technician identified the problem and was able to describe exactly what the AC system was doing - which I hadn't told him and he was completely accurate. Their quite with the Condenser Fan that was the REAL problem and a recharge was a $125.00 less!! Kay-Jays was untruthful, inaccurate, inefficient, and incompetent. I cannot recommend and would advise any potential consumer to beware. read more

I found Kay Jay's by accident.. I'm glad I did! I am fairly new to the high desert.. Some issues came up w/my car and I needed a shop fast.. I decided to give KJ's a call because of the good reviews.. I quickly found out those great reviews were well deserved! The shop and staff are very welcoming! Their service seems to be honest and good quality! They have snacks and coffee available in the lobby.. The staff is very personable.. Also, I was told by someone else it would cost $1100 to fix issue- but,.KJ's diagnosis was totally different and substantially cheaper! More like $100 or so.. James was awesome! Very patient & helpful! The owner is just as approachable and friendly! I think I have found my new vehicle shop for all my future vehicle service needs in the high desert! I'm not one for reviews but I took my bmw to get my headlight checked out and see if they could reprogram it, I called and made an appointment for 1 and my car didn't get looked that till almost 2, and was told they would have to pull the whole headlight out to see what was really wrong which they wanted to charge $300 to pull out and an additional $300 to put back in not including if I needed a new headlight which for my car run on the expensive side, while they were all very nice and had good customer service I can't give anything more then two stars when they wanted to charge $600 is essentially only labor for something i learned doesn't take more then an hour and a half to do and made me wait almost an hour past the appointment time I had scheduled with them. So overall while everyone at Kay jays is very nice and respectful i don't think $600 in labor for a headlight really makes sense. read more
