I was surprised our hosts didn't take advantage of the extensive grounds! So many cool spaces to expand the party to! I hear the rental price is really affordable. I shopped around in Seattle and Bothell--and Cherry Falls had far more ambiance at a better price than the big city offerings. We liked the large windows in the back that showed the trees and forest (our family member who passed was an avid hiker and outdoor lover). There is a kitchen that includes a 30-cup coffee maker, as well as two lovely water dispensers, and much more. There is a large screen with the electronics and speakers to show a slide show or movie. The parking lot is huge, the place is easy to find, right off the road, but it feels peaceful and secluded. The proprietor, Autumn, met us there to go through the electronics and the other details, and before I showed with all my snacks and flowers, she'd already put white tablecloths on all five (huge) tables, and pulled out additional smaller tables for pictures and memorabilia. Everything was spotlessly clean, including a large bathroom and cloakroom. Really, we couldn't have asked for more. I whole-heartedly recommend this venue!

We booked Song River for our wedding reception and Quyen (the owner) was so helpful from the very beginning. Im an overwhelmed bride, and only child with no siblings, and my mother has Dementia so i was doing it all alone. I never had my wedding planned from a young age so I was completely lost and scared where to begin and wanted something easy. Quyen was there to guide me and literally wipe the tears from my face (I got overwhelmed and cried). We booked the space from 11am to 11pm and Quyen sent over an amazing detailed guide to help plan my wedding and reception. I chose one of her pre-selected decorations options and it turned out so beautiful. I believe the package was called "the silk" i cant recall but it was worth it. All lights and decorations are fully customizable and we chose to go with white table linens/chairs and blue/purple lights. Vendors were a BREEZE, as she let's you bring anyone so long as they are licensed and insured. But dont stress because Quyen has a list of vendors she has worked with that know the space, we ended up choosing one from that list for food and bar and purchased the beer/wine to save some $$$. Venues are expensive but Song River is very affordable in today's market, and honestly worth so much more with how beautiful, large, and customizable the space is. Quyen is professional, kind, and knowledgeable, you will want her on your team and you will want to book this space. 10/10 amazing experience and memorable reception!

Their Borrow Room is full of beautiful and useful treasures to enhance the natural beauty of the space. Their wedding planning guide and vendor recommendations are so detailed and thorough. Olive, Quyen and the entire Song River staff are truly remarkable humans and incredible professionals. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, inviting, and respectful of our queerness and the many different identities of our wedding guests. I cannot recommend them enough for any event. Not only do you get THE BEST venue, but you get the wealth of knowledge and experience that they share with you, and you get to support a minority-owned business and some of the most amazing humans I've met. Our wedding day was pure magic and Song River was an integral part of that.

I attended my "20 Year" High School reunion at John's Place in Duvall, WA in July 2011…read more Pros: The property was pretty and appeared to be well maintained. And the facility itself seemed clean, though for the first several hours there were at least four dogs (maybe five) running in and out of the kitchen (where food was being prepared) and amongst the guests. The dogs were also present throughout dinner and did come up to the tables looking for handouts. I happen to love dogs and so actually thought this was amusing, but I'm not sure if other guests appreciated their presence as much as I did. Cons: Apparently the owner came with the rental agreement. While I do not know the specific rental policy for this facility, I felt that it was unusual that the owner was even present. Typically when you rent a facility for a special event, you do not see the owner "hanging around". Perhaps you might see the owner periodically (and discreetly) checking in on things, but I think it is atypical to see them in the midst of the actual event. And unfortunately he was drinking alcohol and appeared to be drunk for the majority of the evening (he was stumbling around, did not sound coherent, etc.), which created a weird atmosphere. He was unfriendly and rude to other guests, I overheard women complaining that he was making them uncomfortable from excessive physical contact, and at one point I had to ask him to leave the women's restroom after he entered it uninvited. But I think his most outrageous behavior was when he attacked my husband while he and another guest were playing horseshoes. Yes, horseshoes. Apparently the owner did not like the fact that my husband missed the horseshoe ring two times in a row, because he proceeded to pick up the horseshoes and throw them at my husband and the other player. Fortunately he missed. Unfortunately, he (Owner) then approached them swearing, lunged at my husband, put his hands around his throat and proceeded to strangle him. Thankfully several bystanders quickly intervened and pulled him off of my husband. The owner eventually stumbled off without a word. Everyone who witnessed the event was shocked. So while this facility did provide a "memorable" experience, I wouldn't say it was a good one, or one that I would want to repeat or recommend to anyone. I did contact the facility the following day to voice my concerns about the previous evening, but to date, have not received any response (they did however take the time to remove all the reviews left on their facebook page...). If they do respond I will update my review.

A week or so later, we received a notification that the venue owner declined to refund our $1,500 damage deposit, accusing us of "taking advantage of her" by having more guests than she said we booked for. At the time we booked the venue, the owner's website said "sleeps up to 30 guests with up to 75 day guests at day of event," and that's what we thought we had paid for (we had about 60 people attend the ceremony, and about 20 overnight guests). Sounds reasonable, no? The owner thought we were only having 30 people attend the wedding (who has only 30 people attend a wedding?), and when she stopped by during our wedding to pick up some items, and saw that there were more than 30 people, she concluded we were intentionally trying to cheat or deceive her. We didn't realize there was a problem until we received the notification from VRBO that she was withholding our deposit money, which included badmouthing us, saying she had to get the carpets cleaned after just having done them before our event. She was not transparent in her communication to us prior to this. We felt that the owner found an opportunity to keep our damage deposit, and took it. Bottom line, the owner is not customer-focused, seeming much more concerned with short-term profit gain from her venue. Regarding the property itself, it is not stellar. -The owner does not maintain the quality of the house at the level that it needs to be for its market rental rate. -The exterior of the house has cracked paint on the siding. -The interior is musty but serviceable. -Even though the house is advertised as being a large multi-acre property, they do not keep the landscape maintained, such that you can hardly walk out safely on the lawn without walking into a mole hole or thorns poking your legs. I wouldn't let small kids roam around on the property - lots of landscape hazards! So you pretty much just have the house and the backyard to use safely. Be WARY. Save your time and money and book another venue, and definitely don't book this estate for an important event. It has been stressful to go through the aftermath of dealing with an owner with questionable business practices. Don't make the same mistake.
