The instructors for the APS swim classes really hit or miss compared to the county classes. We loved the first lady instructor, she always started classes on time and ended on time, knew what she wanted to do in the class, and had her songs with swimming movements ready. Last 2 sessions were with a gentleman instructor (who says he's been teaching swimming at APS for 15+ years) as the main instructor and recently he's been training this other lady and it's been so bad: 1. classes don't start on time half the time (one time started going around checking the kids in at the time class was supposed to start and that took 10 minutes, another time it's already time to start the class but instructor was standing around chatting for 5 minutes) and sometimes runs out of things to do class ended 5 min early 2. runs out of things to do in the class or don't know what songs to sing as we practice swimming movements and they start singing random songs or ask all the parents what song would you like to sing !!?? Could you do a little bit of prep beforehand or bring a cheatsheet into the pool so you know what to do next. Maybe it's the toddler class that's bad because kids are young... won't be doing the toddler class again here unless we get the first instructor back. Will wait for the class for older kids or go to county classes.

In…read morejust six short sessions, our girl went from barely hanging onto a wall and being afraid to leave the pool steps to monkey climbing back and forth for so long, jumping in from the sides and finding the wall from the water, gained more confidence on her back, started blowing bubbles, kicking her legs, etc, and she has LOVED being in the water ever since discovering that confidence with Ariana!! It really helped me and my anxiety knowing that Ariana is becoming a neonatal RN soon and I felt so good experimenting and taking risks while she was there to step in if needed. She was so patient each lesson waiting for my daughter to get comfortable in the water and with her being there, bought special pool toys and learned which ones my daughter took to the quickest and used those to get her comfortable within minutes of beginning each lesson. She left each lesson giving me tips and what to work on in between lessons and I loved being given that direction! she also was always on time, communicative and understanding and flexible of cancellations due to weather. I hope she is still teaching next summer so I can have her out for my daughter again and my baby boy that's due in a couple weeks, and wish we could continue this summer with more but I won't be able to swim for a bit after having this one. We totally would have extended otherwise. 10/10 instructor and experience Thoroughly loved the private experience of having her come out to my in-laws pool to teach too!

The Aqua tots class has made her feel comfortable about the pool and helped her submerge into the water naturally. I highly recommend Coach Kya. She took the time to explain the steps and what the parent needs to do in each move in order for the child to complete the desired action. We had other coaches before her and we found ourselves confused and we just followed what other parents were doing in each move. Coach Kya was the first one to tell us we were doing it wrong and patiently guided us to execute the steps correctly. The facility is new and clean. There are changing rooms, family restrooms with showers. They also have lollipops and stickers at the front desk for the students which is a nice touch. They are tech friendly, you can download the app and schedule make up classes easily. They also track the students' progress in the app, including the moves they learnt each class and the coach's feedback on when the student can move to the next level. Price is comparable to other big swimming chains such as Goldfish, Big Blue. Class ratio is 1:4 but if you get lucky, you can get 1:1 when other students cancel the group class. Will recommend!
