I registered for their Elements classes with Jordan and absolutely LOVED every minute of it! All of the coaches at CFFC are extremely knowledgeable and patient. They take the time to teach proper form for every movement to help avoid injury, but they know how and when to push you to reach your full potential and make progress. After completing Elements I purchased a monthly membership (which includes yoga and various workshops, as well as the opportunity to take classes at their sister gym, CrossFit Adaptation in Shirlington), and promptly cancelled my "traditional" health club membership -- no more treadmill for me! The gym is clean, full of a variety of equipment, and reasonably priced (compared to many other CrossFit gyms in the DC area). They offer a ton of classes each day (from 5:30am to 7:30pm) and there is a real sense of community among the members. I am always amazed at the variety of CrossFitters in each class -- all ages and all skill levels, all shapes and sizes. Thanks to Linsey and all of the other CFFC coaches, I can honestly say I look forward to each workout and I am actually a bit sad when my body tells me to take a rest day. I have enjoyed my time at CFFC so much that I purchased another Groupon for my husband -- he just finished Elements and is hooked!

Linsey is great, she's a good coach and helps me figure out what in the world I'm supposed to be doing (lifting what, how???). I'm fairly petite, 50+ was started on 175# for legs and 75# for arms. I told the trainer that was too heavy for the first time, and that I preferred a lower weight to get the form right, and then I can proceed to a higher weight. He disagreed. I could hardly move the weights and my arms collapsed after 2 of the slow timed reps. I had a lot of pain (not the oh I worked out pain but pulled something pain) in my left knee, right neck, shoulder & arm. I was unable to lift my right arm for 2 days. My neck was messed up because in trying to move the 75# weight, I shrugged my shoulders (a no-no that wasn't corrected by the trainer). Lots of ibuprofen but at least I didn't do any permanent damage. I know my body. I know what works for me. Unless you want be in extreme pain I DO NOT recommend this workout especially for those over 40.

My admittedly horrible diet hasn't changed and I haven't dropped (or gained) any weight. The service isn't inexpensive, roughly $400/month. The pricing, at least for me, was inflexible and I would love to hear from anyone who was offered training at a reduced rate. You can get a lower per-workout price by buying a longer term contract. However, the way the compute "Pay in Full" benefits decreases this benefit somewhat. What is variable is the trainer you choose to work with. There are several available and you should try each to see which one is best to motivate you. My recommendation is that even for the reasonably priced trial that you try each trainer to find the one who best resonates with you. Bottom line: I like the convenience and efficiency of a 20-minute, twice weekly workout that provides measurable, if not dramatic, improvements. I would be happier if these benefits were available at a somewhat lower price.

I received an email stating we would have a "small" increase. 33 percent is not small! And new fees are continally added for late cancellations or no shows. I understand, but I think some tolerance should be given. For example, if I cancel a class late because I wake up sick, I pay $20. However, if the studio is flooded, the instructor is late, the sound system isn't working etc, (all of which I've experienced) we get nothing. The experienced and best instructors continue to leave. The new ones are ok but could benefit from more instruction. And their playlists are chosen by them, so it's very hit or miss. I don't really enjoy an instrumental ride for instance. And it's SO loud. I wear earplugs but it's still barely tolerable. On a positive note, the front desk people are very nice. Also, the studio is in the same complex as a grocery store which is convenient.

From challenging poses and sequences, to very deep hip openers, I enjoyed this class in so many ways and look forward to the next. Additionally, the studio we were in was very clean and there was not Hair all over the place. Changing/locker rooms were also nicely cleaned and organized. The front desk has locks available tomorrow. But really, I can't get over how great the class was. I've never even attempted a bird of paradise before, but thanks to the really wonderful and detailed cues from Dongfang, I not only attempted it, but almost nailed it entirely. This was a great class. I felt challenged and also energized. It was definitely hot and there were definitely moments. I had to take a few breaths, but I would definitely do it again.

There are about 40 rooms of which each has different challenges and involve solving puzzles or executing a task in 1-4 minutes. Depending on how you and your team do you will be rewarded with stars or puzzle pieces for prizes. Everyone is given a wrist band that has a little badge that you use to tap when you enter a room to track your results. Many of the rooms require the participants to work as a team to achieve a goal. Some of the challenges are mental, physical, or require a high degree of coordination. This place is great for adults and I would say kids 8 and up. Teens would love it. I would not recommend this for younger kids. I have heard that this place has very long lines on the weekends. Since we went on Tuesday evening there was no wait for about 50% of the rooms we wanted to enter. And even in those cases we only had to wait no more than 2 minutes for the team inside to exit. It's a cool and fun concept and I would highly recommend it!

Expensive overall. Service was very attentive, they have a lot of staff and are prepared for big crowds. The gaming part is described well in other reviews. I'll foot stomp that it's not adults only, on a Friday night the place was overrun with teens which was unexpected, though everyone was well behaved. The gaming is not linear and it's hard to interact with a large group, you'll lose anyone who is not in your small group of six or so to the mass of games. The wait times for the game rooms were manageable and their tech works really well. Some games were more fun and better than others. The head to head dodgeball, light smacking games were the most fun. I'm not sure I would do another big event there but many of our group left super happy. I'd come back with a smaller group of friends, 4-6 and go through with them.
