The manager actually stated on Thursday afternoon 9/2/15 -"well, I'm leaving on vacation. Give me a call back Tuesday and let me know how long you've been without Internet." Horrible speeds for an outrageous price! They have "high speed" internet, but the other day we were only getting .6 MB of internet. With Comcast, we easily get 20-40 MB per second for only 10$ a month. With CenturyLink, we pay 80$, for Internet that barely works. Save your time and money, don't get CenturyLink read more

Where to begin? The internet itself isn't bad,in fact it's pretty good. It's the customer service and lack of knowledge from the people that are supposed to know how to do their job. Here goes. I moved to another apt in the same town and had it scheduled for the 24th of March for over a week,on the day it was supposed to be set up it got rescheduled for the 25th, so I waited all day, found out it was once again rescheduled for the 28th, so I verified through online chat 4 times on the 28th and they all said that it would be installed in my new apartment by 5 pm. I checked the status online and it said canceled, I called the number on the website and had to wait 45 minutes to be connected with someone,when I finally got connected it took over 50 minutes for them to try to figure out what was going on, I was transferred to different departments 4 times and still Noone knew anything finally after an 1 and a half of their be, they tell me that the only date available is April 1st and that someone should have contacted me to let me know what was going on but Noone did. Now I have to wait even longer than originally planned to get internet service I already had just needed to switch to new place. They really suck at their jobs. Don't recommend this internet to anyone. Please reconsider getting centurylink unless you want the run around they gave me. read more

They own the telephone lines and they refuse to increase the speed available beyond 10Mbps (I rarely get better than dialup speeds) and the line is dropped FREQUENTLY! To top it off, they tell me every time I call (for the last 3 years) that they will be increasing the speed "soon." My neighbors have access to other choices which offer upwards of 100Mbps. read more

HORRIBLE! ZERO STARS. This is a review of my experience with Century Link in general- not this location specifically. I was unable to find a generic listing. I called Century Link in the 11th month of my 12 month internet only contract saying I wanted to cancel because I knew my bill would be going up drastically and didn't want that to happen. Rep said she didn't want me to cancel and so we negotiated a monthly price of $35. She agreed to remove the $10/month modem fee as well. I asked THREE times if this was my new monthly fee and if the modem fee was dropped. She verified it was. About 3 weeks later I get my bill and it's $89.98.....great! Called customer service after wading through the terrible automated replies, rep I talked to said she couldn't help me, I would have to talk to Customer Retention. Transferred me, on hold 40 minutes. Just music- no " we are sorry for your wait ", or " you are number such and such", or " your approximate wait time is..." Most modern customer service oriented business have moved to this kind of a response while a customer is placed on hold years ago- what's the problem Century Link? How hard is this to figure out? It's basic, common sense Customer Service. So, gave up being on hold and called Customer Service back, this time selecting the Cancel Service option. Got a rep on the line and explained what happened. She said they can't offer me that $35 price. I said well your rep did 3 weeks ago. It basically became my word against theirs, and of course you know who loses that battle. I asked how much my December bill would be and she said 89.98. Even though I called in my 11th month to prevent this!! She said in order to lower this bill I would have to accept their promotional offer of 51.98/ month. Made absolutely no difference to her that I called in my 11th month specifically to prevent this rate hike. I asked if they had a record of me calling in- she said it showed I had called but there were no details of a renegotiation. I lose. So I "signed up" for this great deal, promptly paid my final bill and cancelled my service. They did apologize this happened to me.....so nice. The takeaway here is that you CANNOT TRUST what you are being told by Century Link. What they will tell you on the phone and what you see on your bill are two different things. And.....they conveniently have no record of my conversation. IF you do ANY type of negotiation/renegotiation with Century Link, you had better take names and employee numbers, get confirmation numbers, and maybe even record the call. However, in my situation I doubt if any of that would have helped. I believe I was lied to in order to keep me as a customer. I will NEVER EVER be a Century LInk customer again, and will do everything I can to prevent others from making the same mistake. Terrible business model with a total incompetence in customer service. PLEASE.....,do your research and read reviews from others. The way Century Link treats its customers, they should be put out of business. Do not trust them, do not believe what they are telling you. They will lie, misrepresent, whatever you want to call it, in order to take your money. Don't give them your money! I will soon be filing a complaint with the Oregon Attorney Generals office, the Better Business Bureau, and any other Consumer Advocacy group I can find. It's not about the money, it's about the lack of morals, character, and honesty that this company so clearly lacks as evidenced by 100's of complaints like mine. Never get service from this company. I had already closed my account three months ago, but they still keep withdrawing money out of my checking account. I have to keep calling them each month for the refund, so I was so irritating and out of any idea but ask my bank to block this company instead. Guess what? I'm still receiving their email saying my bill is ready. Their customer service departments are so disorganized. I can't believe the way they manage and communicate across different departments in such a big company. If you call them, you will expect many redirect calls to other departments back and forth and keep asking your basic info for verification each time. Fraudulent business practices of theirs about to be submitted to the Financial Fraud Divion of the Oregon State Justice Department. Phone (only) service supposedly hooked up but no phone connection whatsoever for 2 weeks...all this is for a special needs fellow...big mistake on their part. When I called regarding the issue the operator stated they were going to charge to rehook up..their failed first attempt. I threatened with exactly what I will do and complaint to Public Utilities Commision. The technician said it was a tech issue on their part. JUst got the bill with a charge for rehooking up service. THis is scriminal. Please file your complaints with the Justice Department as they have to followup. This business needs to be held accountable. read more

I was excited when a CenturyLink rep knocked on my door and told me that 20mbps Fiber was in our West Salem neighborhood. I was told that I could get a 30-day free trial, although I have Comcast, I thought that I'd give it a try. Needless to say, I'm glad that I didn't cancel my Comcast account. The CenturyLink speed was terrible, it was anywhere from .47mbps (yes, that's a ".") and topped out at 8mbps, the upload was as bad and didn't go above 1mbps. I canceled CenturyLink after 2-3 weeks as the speed never improved (Comcast is giving me 60mbps on a bad day). After I canceled, CenturyLink sent me a bill for $35 that wasn't covered by the "30-day free trial". To make a long story short, I spent about 40 minutes on the phone talking to 2 different people, on hold for most of the time, before they agreed to drop the charges. I did have to accuse them of false advertising and misleading statements, not sure if that helped but I threw it out there. Needless to say, CenturyLink has made me realize how much I like Comcast. Yes Comcast pricing tends to creep up and you have to call them once a year threatening to cancel, but all in all I've never had a customer service experience with Comcast like I just did with CenturyLink. Comcast speed and reliability is great, we have a few speed bumps, but that's expected. I've had Comcast Service to my house because of speed issues, they quickly identified the issue with the coax, they could have billed me for this visit but didn't... Thanks to my experience with CenturyLink I'm starting to appreciate Comcast a lot more... Now if they would just keep their pricing reasonable and offer a la carte tv packages... read more

My Mom has Century Link. She has complained a lot to me over the years about them and I figured there was about half accuracy in what she was saying as she is 90 and doesn't always 'follow directions' with accuracy. I was wrong. First of all Century Link does their best to make it impossible for you to actually speak to a live human being that works for them. Of course, many places have online servicing but they also offer customer service contact numbers. Not so CL. I had to keep calling the repair number and attempt to get transferred. Without going into a very long story, I will just say they are one of the worst companies I have ever personally dealt with. They are not customer service oriented in the least. CenturyLink's systems are so opaque that even if you find a customer service rep that wants to help (no guarantee of that), they aren't able to. When I bundled phone with tv, I was repeatedly billed for for things that nobody was able to explain. Also, the Internet upload speeds are stupid slow. Even with the 20Mb download package, upload was less than 1Mb. Totally unusable for me. No reason to use their services at all, actually. Better options exist for everything they provide. read more

They didn't send my bill to my PO Box which is what I had requested because I don't receive mail at my physical address. As well they didn't have my phone number connected to my account so paying my bill was impossible. I had my internet box disconnected and boxed up for over a month and they have charged me for service I have never received. As well we had issues with service the entire time. I attempted to call third time in which I was connected to an individual I simply couldn't understand his accent I requested to talk with someone else in which he refused. If I could give no stars I would. My experience with CenturyLink has been a nightmare. They sent a young man to my door to offer me this great deal to use their high speed DSL internet trial for one month. I told the guy that I didn't have any phone lines in my house. He promptly said not a problem that they would install them for me. So I signed up... he ask for my SSN and I said I'm not comfortable giving that out to anyone. I later found out that they were able to get my SSN and do a credit check on me without authorization. The equipemnt showed up in the mail and I called Century Link to install the phone lines to find out that they wanted $130 to have someone come out to do that work. I then called and asked to speak to a supervisor and they affirmed that that was true. I said at that point to cancel my service and I sent the equipment back. Then I go a bill in the mail for the one month service that I never used. I called and they gave me a web addressed to explain why it didn't work for me in order to avoid the charge. I now have been turned over to collection for this bill. Unfortunately now I'm pissed and will seek legal counsel on my options against Century Link. read more

Terrible customer service. I originally was going to sign up for Internet, but I needed a person to come physically install internet. Deciding against it, the representative offered a lower speed which I would be able to install myself. He then changed his mind and said I was better off just waiting for the installer to come in since I would not be able to receive a package until December 12th. I told him to forget the whole thing and he got frustrated and he kept putting me on hold over and over again. I called back that night and a lady in Missouri tried to convince me on keeping my service and that she could ship it ASAP which would have been on Monday the 5th. She said I didn't need help installing. I asked her to send me a conversation log in an email , she did not. I waited until Thursday morning to call back, in case the email did come through. I talked to someone and he says he cancelled my service and he gave me a confirmation number. Well today, 12/8 I received a call from an installer looking for me. I told him I had cancelled the service and I did not have the confirmation number on me due to being at work. He said he would cancel it on his part. Now I have to deal with USPS because they are trying to deliver a modem. Great. read more

I have been satisfied with the high speed internet service we get through Century Link. However their phone customer service representatives needs some attention and training. My husband set up our internet account and set up auto pay. I have never had to correspond until we moved. I got my first bill at our new address (no longer on auto pay apparently) and it is double the cost it normally is. The bill lists those additional charges as "service additions and changes." So I assume that is a fee for turning off the internet and resuming it at our new location. But a $40 fee for that? I want to know for sure. So I called the customer service line listed on the bill, gave my account info and name. Then I was transferred. I again gave my account info and name and then was put on hold. A third customer service rep picked up the line after several minutes and asked for my account info and name. Then she said you are not an authorized user. And said no more. Really people come on! Someone could have told me that at the first phone call. The money to pay for this account comes from a bank account with my name on it. I am a customer even if my name is not on the account. I understand if you can't give me any info. But maybe you could use some tact and show some respect for my interest in my bill and the time I have spent on hold. I would have preferred an "I'm sorry, your name is not listed as an authorized user. If you have the authorized user list your name on the account I will be able to help you." That is much more positive. read more

OMG...I'm writing this while I'm on the phone with customer service...five transfers, 45 minutes and nothing. Let me start by saying everything initially started ok with them. We moved from out of state and had our service set up just fine. We were told that the price would be $44/month as long as we had autopay. No problem. Service sucked and lagged (especially around 8pm) but we didn't want to pay a lot for service so we basically got what we paid for (or so I thought). I received a bill in November saying that our promotion had ended and I owed an insane amount of money. Apparently after one year they stopped the autopay. I cancelled service and went with XFINITY who I might add is cheaper, way more awesome and has great customer service..Centurylink customer service sucks! I waited online for over 5 HOURS. Right now I've been transferred another three times since I've started writing and I'm losing it. Terrible company, terrible service...will NEVER use them again! read more

I recently decided to switch my TV service to Dish, primarily because I have a motorhome where I could have the same channels on the road (with a Satellite) that I have at home and could turn the service off in the motorhome in the months I was had the RV in storage. The partner for internet and phone was Century Link. Comcast was cooperative and ported my phone number to Century Link effective my installation date of CL set for 12/3/15. Out of the blue I get an email stating that my install date was moved to 12/17/15. No calls to ask if that date would work for me....nothing. They blamed Comcast, stating Comcast had "denied" the porting of the phone number, thus delaying the installation. Comcast, at my request, did an extensive investigation and found that CL had requested the change in date the day before the email arrived in my mailbox. In other words, CL was untruthful in blaming Comcast. I decided to keep the Dish (like that) and stay with Comcast phone/internet. BTW, Dish will tell you, that they are using Century Links infrastructure for data, and all customer service issues will be handled by them, but the bottom line was that CL was doing the internet/phone modem installation, not Dish. Granted, Comcast is not perfect, but their customer service has been improving steadily. The most CL could offer for internet speed in my area was 12mps. Comcast, depending on your package, can offer over 150+ mps. Of all depends on how many folks are accessing the hub at any one time. Century Link gets across the board negative reviews and having experienced their poor service personally, I can see why. These folks need to read these reviews and begin a meaningful top down change in their customer service. My thinking was that if this is the service I was receiving even before my install, what could I expect down the road. Choose another provider, if at all possible. read more
