One of the best I've ever had; top three anyway with Fox in the Snow and my own kitchen. Texas toast or bagel, 2 eggs fried up, big tasty sausage patty, good cheese. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Enter through the main door and there is a table with branded merchandise available for purchase. Place your order and they will get it ready for you. At the end of the counter is the register. This feels very odd to say, but the person who takes your order, packages/plates your food items, nearly whispers into the ear of the person who is ringing up the order, is providing a curated experience. To repeat your order at the cash registers feels very much like a part of a production line. The drink station is next to the register and along the wall is a spot to get lids, straws, etc. The kitchen is behind the case of baked goods and you can view them making the food while you're in line. Seating is plentiful. There are tables and chairs. Along one wall is bench style seating. Lots of light wood and light. The noise level can be loud. The second glass door in front is blocked by a table and chairs from being used. This is for the safety of the outdoor patrons. One morning the patio area was completely full. The former drive through window is still there but it's not currently in use. I thought it might be turned into a walk up window at some point for people who order ahead or single neighbors who bring their dog and don't want to let them out of their sight while getting food or coffee. They have cars parked there to discourage walkups. On one visit the line was almost to the door but there were two people taking orders so the line went quickly. I chose the 'torpedo' and was expecting something a little more slim, crusty, and European... But it was more like a traditional hoagie roll. No problem, the bread was pillowy and flavorful. I had the italian beef for the innards, with various fresh and pre-prepped toppings. The fillings and toppings seemed to contain a lot of liquid and has the potential to make your sandwich or wrap soggy, but i ate mine before this potential was realized. This place can accommodate whatever dietary phase you want to be in... Salads for January resolutions and noodley goodness for those comfort food days. As with any new business, there are a few aspects that will likely be improved as the location begins to settle into it's new digs. It takes some doing to find this Piada-esque joint, particularly if you are looking for it under the Lola name, and when you do make it to the dimly lit food court tucked away in the Fifth/Third lobby, you may find it difficult to believe this unassuming kiosk is generating all this downtown hubbub. Well, believe it. As the only vendor in the food court, it's remarkable how simple the menu is. They offer torpedo sandwiches, wraps, pasta salads, quesadillas chips, and a modest selection of drinks. Everything fits on a small chalkboard. It's also remarkable how affordable the prices are (my veggie quesadilla was enormous and cost a mere $6), and I can assure you the staff of Fifth Third are all drooling Streetfare junkies. If I have any misgivings, and I'm reaching here, is that it would be nice if they had a second person on staff during lunch hour. As cool as our guy was, he could only move the line along so fast.
