I have been looking at their menu a while now bc they have all the best appetizers. I finally made it in with my friend and ordered the jalapeño peppers and a Mexican mule. Let me just say, if the whole menu is as good as these jalapeño poppers this might be one of my new favorite spots and it's so close to my apartment. They were filled with cream cheese and bacon then served with a warm cheese dipping sauce. Omg so so delicious. I do wish they were spicier but they were super delicious. I also wished that they came with more than 4 (2 whole peppers). I think for $11 or $12 they could have thrown in another one. But I will be tryin their other apps and menu items soon. Haven't been this way in a while and the area has been developed with apartments. Wanted to have some food and the tacos looked appetizing. They were. Got the Barbacoa and Queso Birra tacos. Both were very good with plenty of flavorful meat. Queso Birra was a little more messy but I liked it better. I actually could have downed a few more tacos. I've been to Double Barrel multiple times and every time is great! The rustic decor is warm and inviting, service is ALWAYS exceptional and they make a very good Old Fashioned. My usual order is wings in buffalo hot sauce but the last time I was there I ordered a Smoked Brisket Grilled Cheese and added caramelized onions and it was a game changer. Double Barrel Kitchen was a late night stop for my friends and I. When we arrived there was a one man band playing. He was pretty talented. Our waitress approached us shortly after we arrived. She dropped off menus and got us waters. We ordered two barrel burgers and the brisket grilled cheese. The burger was cooked to perfection! This burger has the best seasoning and flavor. Great local place with delicious food! Easy parking with a large enough lot. The vibe is very casual - not quite a dive bar and definitely still friendly for kids but also many tables of after golf drinkers and people looking to wind down in general (not just a dinner crowd). The music was pretty loud but enjoyable and could still converse over it. The staff was friendly but they were definitely short handed. Our food was hot though and delicious- we got the pretzels for an appetizer. They were sticks and had a great flavor. The outside was just a touch crunchy and the inside perfectly soft. My brisket grilled cheese was incredible and I'd definitely recommend - great flavor, lots of cheese and very good bbq sauce! The sweet potato fries were decent but paled in comparison to the rest of the food. The rest of my group really enjoyed their meals as well!! They have fab bartenders, happy hour specials, nightly drink specials, Sat night live music, outlets under the bar to charge phones, and purse hooks. The menu has better-than-bar-food selections such as a kale salad, beyond burgers, and salmon. The mac 'n cheese not so much. The mules are great. This place is right up the street from me, so when I noticed that they had fish and chips on the menu, I decided to give this restaurant a try for carryout. Customer service was excellent, except when I got home, no eating utensils nor napkins, nor ketchup in the bag. Now for the food: The menu advertised wild-caught fish (would have been nice to know the type of fish), which was perfectly cooked; but I was not crazy about the batter...a little too salty for my taste . The fries were delicious, but not so much for the coleslaw. Maybe I will return, but will definitely be trying something different. read more

Sat down around 730p on a Friday night, place is less than half full when we arrive, waitress didn't come over for about 10 minutes. Only stopped at our table about a total of 4 times with the last only being because we went to her and asked her for the check after waiting from 830 to 900 without her returning to the table. Did drive by drop offs the other times. Had to stop her and ask for the same condiments 3 different times before she brought it to the table. Mind you, just about all three of the waitresses we saw there were standing at the server station on their phones most of the time we were there. Located in a small strip mall off Hamilton Road in New Albany off route 161. Plenty of parking available out front. The inside has an industrial feel and quaint. Plenty of TVs and large bar with high top tables around. The server was kind, attentive and was outstanding! We came on a Tuesday and they hosted a Bar Bingo. Fun concept to get a crowd in the door. Required too much attention for me and I decided to spend the time catching up with my friends. Ok, now the food. This is definitely a place NOT to eat at. So, we did order a few appetizers and a salad but after we had a few bites we stopped there and decided NOT to order anything else. Started out with the buffalo cauliflower bites (please don't), the jalepeno poppers (definitely don't do it) and the BLT salad with ranch (maybe). I can't tell you how horrible the buffalo cauliflower bites were. Picture soggy. The jalepeno bites were interestingly battered and half slices and stuffed with cheese and bacon. All served with queso dip. Did I make it sound good because it wasn't. The salad was iceberg lettuce, some shredded cheese and overcooked, rather burnt bacon on top. Add ranch on top and it feels like a salad I made at home and tossed the burnt bacon to the dog instead of my salad. This place has so much opportunity and I hope to return when they get their food together. Otherwise, I will go elsewhere. read more

Last night was our first time at Double Barrel. It's located in a strip mall on N Hamilton Road. There was a sign to seat yourself when we walked in. We found an empty table but it was visibly dirty with some food remnants. Fortunately they had a large container of sanitizing wipes in the entry so I was able to wipe down the table myself. Not the best introduction to the place. It took a while for wait staff to bring menus, but they were hopping, and we enjoyed looking around. Double Barrel has a large bourbon list posted at the end of the bar. We decided to try a couple of varieties. Once we put in our drink and appetizer order (garlic cheese curds $7), they arrived at the table quickly. The garlic cheese curds were great, a light crisp coating on garlic marinated cheese curds with a small cup of marinara for dipping. They had a really good garlic flavor. We each ordered burgers, I got the Barrel Burger ($13) and substituted the onion rings for the fries and my husband ordered the Cowboy burger ($13) also substituting onion rings. The food was good. There are no prices for drinks posted on the menu or anywhere in sight. So either ask or take your chances, like we did. They do have daily drink specials posted (see pic). The atmosphere is casual, laid back. The wait staff (not our server) often had masks below their noses and one server moved hers to below her chin a few time at tables with customers. read more

Officially, I would rate this restaurant a 3.5/5, but Yelp doesn't allow half stars; I wouldn't want to punish this establishment with a 3/5 on a technicality. The main drawback for me was the seating options which were either a high-top, the bar, or one of two low-top tables. As a personal preference, I don't like high-top tables, but that varies from person to person. Onto the good points, the service was timely, even though there only appeared to be one person handling the bar and restaurant area. Our food was very hot coming out of the kitchen and the burger was cooked well. The burger itself lacked a little seasoning, but the flavors were there, overall. I was excited to see they had battered fries, which are my absolute favorite. I would visit Double Barrel again since they have good specials, a good happy hour, and provided overall a good experience. read more

Haven't been in for two years. The bartender was working hard with good service and totally friendly. An employee was standing at the end of the bar eating the whole we were there; doing absolutely nothing. Clean the bathroom? The women's restroom was filthy as in the sink faucets dirty, soap squirts in your face and no one has wiped the top of the garbage can in years. This place has gone downhill. Not coming back. I really like this restaurant. A few friends and I came here after work. The decor is cute and they have karaoke some times. My server was Dawnya and she was amazing. She knew the menu well and offered a lot of great suggestions. I ended up getting the 5 All flat Wings with Blue Cheese and Celery ($12), Sweet Potato Fries ($3), and Mac and Cheese ($3). The Wings were really good and so was the Sweet Potato Fries. I wasn't too fond of that style of Mac and Cheese but all the other food was tasty. The restaurant was clean and everyone was friendly. I didn't know what to expect when I made plans with fellow Yelpers to come check out Double Barrel. We simply wanted to try a hot, new restaurant and this one was at the top of the list when we searched on Yelp. It's actually no where near me, I came all the way from downtown to give it a try. While there isn't a whole lot nearby, we arrived to find the parking lot absolutely packed. I immediately assumed this new spot filled a need that this area really needed and I love that! Our group got a table right away, which was impeccable timing. Within thirty minutes of being there the entire restaurant was packed and people just kept on coming. We quickly realized why... they had a live band scheduled to play. How cool is that! While it was insanely loud and I could barely hold a conversation with the people a foot in front of me, it was pretty cool. You don't see live music on a week day often, even right in the middle of Columbus. Our waitress was super attentive, had waters out ASAP, and was happy to go over the menu. I can't say enough good things about her. There was a slight mix up food wise and she remedied the issue crazy fast. She was smiling the entire time and you could tell she enjoyed her job. That's always a big plus for me. Ok, now onto the food. When I first looked at their menu online, I was a little bummed. They didn't have but a couple vegetarian friendly options. HOWEVER! Our awesome waitress informed me right away that they have the Beyond Burger as a substitute and I jumped for joy. I no longer had to order appetizers or a side salad. #winning. I highly suggest they update their website to reflect this option! Our table went with the white queso and cauliflower bites to start. While I stayed away from the queso, the fried buffalo cauliflower was amazing and I would order this again in a heartbeat. It wasn't too covered in batter, the spice level was just right, and the ranch made for the perfect dipping sauce. As for my entree, I got the classic burger but with the Beyond Burger patty. The fact that they don't upcharge $3+ for this was mind blowing honestly. It came out perfect and I ate every single bite. We finished up with their two dessert options. The smoked maple bourbon ice cream was to die for. The deep fried PB&J doesn't need to be on the menu. I would nix it entirely. I really want to like Double Barrel but I do not. I went here with some of my friends and my parents in December when they first opened and loved the environment. I have been back 2-3 times and ended up leaving due to it being too loud. When I did come in December, we got some food. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower bites which were really good but was not a fan of the other things we ordered. I wish their menu was bigger because there is not much to choose from. We have been here twice when there was a live band and it's not really pleasant to be at. The people who are drunk look like they are having fun but it is an older crowd than myself who is in my twenties. We ended up leaving last weekend because we wanted to drink and talk but couldn't due to the volume of the music. I will probably come back but only for one or two drinks because I like the scenery which is different fr the typical New Albany/Westerville places but I do not really recommend if you want a chill night. read more

As this was our first visit the super attentive waitress went over the menu in great detail. We got the Fried Cauliflower and Queso to start out. Jamie was excited that they offer Beyond Burgers with no up-charge. I got the Hawaiian with a chicken breast as the base and sweet potato fries. The fries were regular instead at first, a minor hiccup that was quickly resolved. My wife had the Bacon Blue cheese burger. We enjoyed fried PB&J and ice cream for dessert. The PBJ was interesting and not nearly as exciting as the ice cream. A wonderful night out. This place is basically across the street from our house... So we had to give it a try. Top notch bourbon selection, good food and good service. And VERY affordable. Jaq was a blast as our server!! And the owner came around several times to check on us. We arrived at 4:45 to snag a table for 6...and it was already packed with people! And there is only one large party table. While I realize the place was packed.. It did take a long time for our food. We were there 2 hours. But, it's a social place so we weren't in a hurry, just hungry!
