It's a good place but do not come in with any important meds because they will throw them out while you're there.

When I was in detox they sent their salesman in to rip me off and get me to wire them an exorbitant amount of money in excess of the cost of treatment above and beyond what my insurance paid as they had me drugged up on Benzo diazepam. I was in detox for a week and then did 3 weeks in residence. First off the food is horrible! I was also injured as I was suffering from bad arthritis and bursitis in my right hip. There are no accommodations for disabilities, they have no real medical facility and their medical director is a joke! Also, they don't care how much pain you are in, as long as they are collecting their insurance money and picking your pocket. They even mark up the cigarettes you give them the money to buy by $2 a pack! Most of their holistic practices are basically to keep you occupied, not much on behavioral therapy. After two months of arguing with them they are still trying to keep half of the extra money they got me to wire them when they had me drugged up, so I have no choice but to take them to court and sue them for the rest of my money back and damages. Plus now I have to go through the ordeal of filing financial exploitation complaints with the Connecticut department of health, the Just council as well as an American with Disabilities complaint to the U.S. Department of Justice for the financial exploitation of a disabled person in their care. I left after 3 weeks of residency, after I witnessed them lie to another client who was in PHP and when he caught them in the lie they started making up fictitious complaints about him to have him thrown out. After I saw that, I told them I was leaving. I wasn't receiving any kind of really beneficial treatment anyway. The idea of Mountainside is nice, the actual care givers are very nice people who seem to care. But once you get to management, they are all just liars and money grubbing thieves who are just trying to take as much money from you as possible. The rate that people return there is also unbelievable, I ran into more than a few people who were on their third trip through rehab at Mountainside, that year! I personally would not recommend Mountainside to anyone. I got sober because before I got there I had decided that I had drank enough and that is why I succeeded. There was nothing at Mountainside that was of much help to me; actually it seemed to me that it would have been easier somewhere else as they were constantly trying to pick my pocket, never kept any promises and were just generally a huge pain in the ass. All they care about is collecting your insurance money and picking your pocket for as much as they can. Hoping, in my opinion, that you come back. I hear the return rate at High Watch is much lower, that might be a better place to look. One man's opinion, who has been there and had to deal with them.

Although there are other factors involved ,there drug based program is not suited for everyone and their lack of screening and almost no follow up . My boyfriend suffered damage in his spine and was unable to move any of his limbs, multiple times he became stuck and hit the call bell just for no one to come for over an hour. There were times he wasn't fed his dinner until 1am, and many times staff would come to check on him while on their phones, disregarding what he said. At one point he requested to go to the ER, as he was getting worse daily and wanted to see a doctor, he was refused twice. Had to wait until he was at a doctors appointment and demand to be sent to the ER from there just to get there. Turns out the doctor confirmed he should have been sent the moment he asked because he urgently needed another surgery. They tried to wipe it under the rug that he was getting worse and would have continued pretending he was fine if the doctor hadn't advocated and listened when he said he didn't want to go back. They messed up taking him to appointments, making him miss them and did less than the bare minimum for therapy. The staff there are only there for a paycheck, spending most of their time on their phones and ignoring their patients. Don't send your loved ones here, they'll end up worse than ever before

At Glen Rock PT I worked with Paul, the owner, who was outstanding. He spent time listening to me and working with me to find the best way to deal with my symptoms and also to help me to build my strength back. Paul never rushed and was very compassionate and thought "out of the box" regarding ways to help me heal and improve. I can not say enough about the excellent treatment I received from Paul in addition to all of his staff. I also worked briefly with 2 other of the PT's - Brian and Kathy and I received excellent treatment from them as well. All of the staff members (the aides, the office staff) were extremely kind and helpful. I would never go anywhere else!
