Amazing food cooked daily, staff that always cares about your well being and you can rely on them at anytime of the day. I would highly recommend retreat to anyone that is on the edge of getting help. The type of care they gave me was something I will never forget. By far the best rehab I have ever seen in CT. I spent 28 days at this rehab facility. I was treated for Alcohol addiction. I had to be Detoxed. This facility was fantastic. They treated me with compassion and really care about you. The groups were excellent, and teach good coping skills. Rooms were comfortable, and you had a tv in every room. Food was excellent, they have their own chef who prepares food, it was restaurant quality. You get out of it what you put into it. I Highly recommend this facility. It was very comfortable, and they really help you with your recovery, even after you leave they have an excellent Alumni program, with events and online groups to help you stay in recovery. I have been clean and sober ever since attending their treatment program. I HIGHLY recommend them. My only issue is that they don't except all insurance. My wife tried to go and they didn't except her insurance. read more

I recently completed Retreat's inpatient program which is one of six I have completed in my life. Overall, PASS! There was little to no curriculum, almost all therapists that teach the classes take no passion or time in the preparation of what they teach...it was very disheartening. The food is basic elementary cafeteria food except their salad bar, which is quite exceptional. While I attended many patients, including myself tried to better the program and our experiences while attending however, nothing was considered or implemented due to the lack of interest from the higher ups. Frequent flyers, rules do not apply and they are treated in higher regards than the newcomer... I was shocked... High-ups were a joke and treated many patients, including myself poorly and at times were very triggering.... Therapists contact your emergency contacts without your permission and will not notify patients before or even after that they called. Yes, a therapist was fired a month before I was there. read more

I was at the Retreat Behavioral Health in New Haven in August 2020 and it saved my life! I have struggled with addiction for 20 years and have been to several different rehabs, none of which can compare to the Retreat. The staff is professional, friendly and very attentive and the facility is amazing. I have also made lifelong friends during my stay at the Retreat. It has truly changed my life and I am forever grateful for my experience here. If I could, I'd give them 10 stars! read more

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for Retreat. They met me where I was at, accepted me, and loved me until I learned to love myself. They helped me in so many ways I can't even count. They know exactly how to help those who are struggling with addiction and I highly recommend them if you or a loved one are struggling. Awful experience. Retreat from Retreat. If you care for your loved ones, do not send them here. They have absolutley no regard for the care of the patients in any form whatsoever. Nursing staff is awful and so is administration. They have no rhyme or reason for denying patients the rights they are guaranteed upon entering. Absolutley awful place. Disgusting conditions and no passion for helping those struggling with addiction. High Watch, Mountainside, or Silver Hill are better options. read more

It's Always Something I read their website posts about co-occurring disorders and dual-diagnosis treatment - both were repeated during my intake phone call - but neither were provided during my stay. In my experience the only effective time was the detox, otherwise, many things disappointed me. In 25 days, I had only two individual meetings with a counselor, no Psych contact as requested, and no medication consult until the day before discharge. Group meetings were generic and crowded (anywhere from 18 to 35), I found the sessions unhelpful to me. Windows weren't insulated, you could feel cold air coming in, and the thermostats were very touchy, leaving most rooms freezing or stifling. Even simple, routine things, like scheduled meds and phone-call requests, were often problematic. If you complain you get trained explanations or excuses aiming to shut down your argument, or outright ignored. If you're seeking personalized treatment and support, I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

My recent stay at retreat Was extremely disappointing. During the phone intake process I was lied to and later learned following my intake that promises made over the phone We're not offered at this facility. I was told I would have Intensive 1 on 1 therapy sessionsAt least 3 days a week, I was there for 28 days and spent less than 90 minutes total with an individual therapist. Despite listing family and medical providers on my contact list I was never notified They were trying to reach me. My wife made 4 phone calls spanning 3 days but I was never notified even though she was listed as my emergency contact. My wallet went missing from the "vault" and was lost for a full day, when they located it my credit cards were missing and unauthorized charges were made near the facility (2.5 hrs from where I live). I was given medications that I told them I was allergic to and was told I was going against medical advice even though I didn't see a dr till my 6th day. They provided no beneficial medical care and put me in danger of having a reaction that would have made my tongue swell and block my throat. The group sessions were hit-or-miss depending on the therapist's, some were fantastic but others showed up to group unprepared with no objective and no ability to control the conversation. I wouldn't recommend retreat to anyone given my experience. read more
