well.. where do I start? It's May in Ohio. Everybody's out looking for their plants. My friend and I showed up there to unload some money and get some plants probably spending a couple hundred dollars each... and yet couldn't get in the door because of the lack of parking. Being honest., there was probably enough parking for a dozen vehicles in the front lot. Big sign says more parking in the rear so we of course, went back there to be greeted with a man trying to do his job in a forklift almost trying to run us over., many many, many many many piles of stone and masonry, which probably took up the parking spots that we're supposed to be back there as as well as bulk mulch piles, which again took up parking, couldn't tell where to park where you'd be out of the way of them trying to do business. In the meantime, decided to leave we went down the street to Bremecs just west of their location about a mile and dropped $400 between the two of us. I can't even imagine trying to run a business and not leaving enough parking for your customers to come in and buy the stuff that you have for sale. I cannot even imagine. My friend said that they have had numerous other complaints of there being no parking. Why have all this merchandise if your customers aren't gonna be able to come in and buy it? Makes no sense won't be back too many other choices up Ohio. Bremecs, Petities, Gale's garden ctr. Very disappointing. read more

i was looking for tropicals and i entered and found tons of hanging plants and perinneals. just beautiful. when i arrived in the back i found the few tropicals at lows and reasonable prices in 10 inch pots. it included ring of fire and other 6 inch pots at too high prices--the customer service could be improved, they donnot greet customers or ask if they can help them because there are many many plants, but the plants are there if you take your time to look, i purchased on 3 trips over $400 plants including the i0 inch pot red enste murelii banana at $30-40 less than other ne ohio nursies and garden centers. to conclude, this place is worth a visit particularly at the end of season 50% off everything which i am looking forward to, i think in october. i will have ask them. they are getting new plants in the end of july i will be back as fairly happy customer. they even have the red lipstick seal wax palm tree for half the price of everybody in the usa. a great value. read more

They have a great selection of everything you need for gardening. But beware when they have a "sale" on pottery that their prices are greatly exaggerated to what the real retail price is. Purchased a pot 75% off of $79.99. Sells at other stores for $30-$35 Everyday. Did pay less, but it's not the bargain they make it sound like! Do price checks. read more

We purchased two identical lilac trees a year ago from Highland, planted them both the same. Both bloomed in the Spring and about a month ago one suddenly died. We went back to Highland and told them about the tree, even had the tree with us and we were given the response of: "well, there's nothing we can do about it." Personally we feel like that's pretty terrible customer service. read more

What a great place to buy a Christmas tree. The guys working there were super friendly and very helpful. The variety of trees was more than enough. The guys did a fresh cut, wrapped it, and tied it on the car. Love the fire going to keep you warm! Wife and kids enjoyed looking around the greenhouse. read more

Is it possible to give a minus star review? One of my young friends, a beautiful smart African-American woman with two Masters degrees, shopped here last week for some perennials for her new house. She waited patiently, being under no time constraints while an employee helped a white couple with their selections. When it came time for her to be assisted, he treated her curtly, answered two questions, then turned away to help another white couple. When she calmly asked why he didn't finish with her, he said, "I'll get back to you later" -- making it perfectly apparent that she was not at the top of the customer category. Management, you should be aware of how employees are treating customers. Future customers should be aware that there are many garden centers that provide excellent customer service for ALL customers, regardless of race. I prefer to give my business to the latter type of business. I've been a customer of Highland in the past, but will not be again. read more

5 solid stars for their selection. They sell a lot of unique perennials you won't find at other nurseries. Their prices are competitive, too. The only thing I don't care for is the aisles are not wide enough to push a cart through without bumping into the many flowers on the ground. I felt bad because I felt like I was destroying stuff as I shopped. Otherwise, knowledgeable employees and great selection. This will be my go-to Nursery from now on! read more

I really love this place. As a plant enthusiast (I only went to school for them for 10 years), who consistently hunts down very specific plants for home and work, I have been wanting to check them out for a few years. Well, I finally did! First of all, they staff is very nice and knowledgeable - and mature. Think of them as being staffed by your kind green thumb Aunts and Uncles. This pleases me greatly, as the people that are there can really help you meet your botanical needs, they know what they are doing. Second, the selection is fabulous. Sure, you can get the petunias that every garden center has, but for every 5 plants that you can get anywhere, is a unique plant that you can't find anywhere else locally. For example, they have pitcher plants and passion flowers. And if they don't have it, they can recommend where to get it. This, in itself, will bring me back again and again. Finally, their prices are excellent! For veggies, for example, their prices are lower than your sale item big box hardware stores - and Highland has a better selection. And, while I didn't need it on this trip, they were very accommodating at loading up all your heavy goods. On a final note, they aren't a flashy garden center. They don't highlight their pottery or fountains to make it look like a super high end place. It's about the plants and fitting in a lot of them in a not huge space. Don't let the unflashy appearance phase you - it will save you $ in the end. As for me, I am very impressed and I will be back! read more
