Went out with bachlorette party on a Saturday night. Sat down at a table was served by a sweet girl. Random guy came up to us told us it was $5 for wristbands to stay. Nobody else had wristbands. Tried to put these wristbands on us and none of us even paid or said we would pay the $5 still. A regular at the bar said he wanted a picture of all of us girls but himself not allowed in pictures.. other dude that worked there comes up to us and tells us this guy is a regular and he will get angry if we don't do what he asks. Seemed sketchy so we left. Definitely do not recommend this place to young women. read more

My family and I stopped in after a house viewing in the area and were treated to some amazing food unexpectedly. We got the house tacos and were super surprised at the quality of the taco. The shells were made like I had in Texas/Oklahoma area. Just phenomenal. Would definitely recommend this establishment. read more

My favorite place for night time drinks! The owner is a very sweet lady who always comes out to chat with us and the bartenders are amazing! Even hired one of them for my wedding. The only reason I didn't give this place just one star was because I had fond memories here when I was a child (probably different owners). My family decided to leave our lake house and go out for a family outing. After ordering a drink (a margarita on the rocks no salt) and it came back with salt, I said "can I get a new one it has salt on it" her response was "that what they gave me" with tons of attitude as she put it down on my table. She did take it back but I'm sure it was just poured into a new glass because it was extremely salty when it came back. She never apologized only gave attitude, and we were all in a good mood! So she came back to take our order. After we ordered she came Back multiple times stating they are out of of things: no chicken, no cheese, no coke. And a few other things, you know, the essentials! The brought back the appetizer (potato skins) they were fried maybe ten times and were pretty much burnt chips. The rest of the food was ok... Some good and some not so good. When we left my uncle got extremely sick that night... So needless to say we decided this restaurant will not be a family tradition anymore and we will find a new place for when we come to the lake house. OK!! To start, nice atmosphere great location. Our service started pretty good drinks fairly right away, but once we ordered our food another large table came in and our waitress was gone!!! Took a while for the food but no problem we played pull tabs while a few ate their salads, but once they were done we put the plates together and piled the losing pull tabs in hopes they would take them away, nope they delivered my wife's food and left the heaping plate of garbage in front of her plate. Everyone got their food except one, and he didnt get his until we were done, meanwhile no butter for potatoes, no knife to cut a steak with, they did eventually bring a knife and butter after everyone's potatoes were cold, waitress did come back with our bills and made excuses for what had taken place, unacceptable in my books. The manager did come out,after we cashed out and after we got approved for 10% off our bill for a whopping $6, and said this was the first she was hearing about it when another waitress said she was talking to the mgr for the 10% off, hmm!!!! We're very good tippers for good service, it was our first visit there and a very bad first impression. The food was good, pricey for the portions $12+ for 4 pieces of perch and a dollop of potatoes yuck!! Worst service ever!!! I have been to the Highland on many different occasions, I have always had a good time........the only complaint that I have is when you pay $$5/6.00 for a drink you'd expect alcohol in it right?? I don't care what time of the day or night I go to the Highland I never get alcohol in my drinks, as a matter of fact I was up there this past Saturday with my daughter and new husband , they got married that afternoon. I ordered my drink the first time no alcohol in it!!! So I let that one slide ordered my 2 drink no alcohol in it!!!! I spoke with a young girl who was with the wedding party as well she also happens to work at highland, I asked her to try my drink so she did!!! I said well how was it?? She said good if you like lemonade, I said does it taste like it has any vodka in it?? She said No and laughed...I said well its suppose to have vodka in it!!! She went to the bar and had them fix it it was better after that!!!! So if you drink mixed drinks you need to watch them and don't be afraid of speaking up!! This was our first visit to The Highland Inn and we were really looking forward to it. The food was ok and what you would expect for most bar type establishments and the menu looked very promising, however the waitress we had was absolutely horrible and after a larger table came in (which meant bigger tips) she completely disappeared. My food was only brought out after everyone else in our group was done eating so they got to sit there and talk and watch me eat. On top of that the food was not even brought out by our waitress, we had to complain to someone else and they brought the food. One person in our party had her steak show up fully cooked when it was ordered medium rare. No butter for the potatoes and when they did finally bring it out after our food was cold it did not matter at that point. When we talked to the waitress about it all she did was get an attitude and tried to make excuses about having so many tables to work when their was at least 5 different wait staff working and they were not that busy. When she knew we had complained she started slamming glasses and bar doors acting immaturely. This was a prime example of how one person can ruin the rep for an entirely establishment. read more

Too bad, this place could be a Gold mine if the owner had a business plan to play to the demographics of the area. The outside is univiting.
