A great late night vibe! We lovedddd the drinks and the bar staff that served them. We talked wine for a while. The salmon pastry was really good but very bold in flavor I would recommend asking for their list of whites and finding a good pairing for this dish. Patatas bravas served with 2 hearty distinct sauces. We were coming to have a nice drink but the snacks made it even better. Great views of the Grand and a fun night out. Can't wait to come back

This time around I had a drink that was not on the menu (pomegranate martini) and it was excellent! In my opinion, better than the specials I've tried. We ordered tapas and everything was delicious, I don't have any negative feedback and we got full pretty fast. My favorite had to be the shrimp or octopus, then the tomato baguette and last the croquettes. They weren't my favorite out of the bunch, but still good! Service and view were great as always. I'd definitely go back again!

Truly one of the most remarkable dining experiences in Grand Rapids! Service was top-notch, ambiance was upscale yet comfortable, and food was nothing short of incredible. Authentic Spanish cuisine with an American flair - every dish was spectacularly balanced. The croquetas were pillowy and crispy and rich. The oxtail stuffed morels were an explosion of decadent umami. The gambas (shrimp) were soaked in Spanish olive oil, confit garlic, and a metric ton of saffron (these were the star of the show in terms of both flavor and value). And the patatas bravas? Who doesn't love some thick cut fried potatoes. For the main dish, the scallops were DIVINE. Not joking, the best scallops I've ever had in my life - which was a relief considering they were $55 for THREE of them boys. Yes it's pricey, but frankly it's well worth it. The quality of service, food and environment that MDRD has articulately crafted is a special experience and should be treated as such. My ONLY gripe is the fact that they didn't have their Spanish Tortilla on the menu - that's like a burger chain not having French fries. Would highly recommend, especially if you've got a taste for Spanish food!

Amazing views of the city with food to match. I love coming to this place for any type of celebration. It's a fun place to come with friends and share the tapas to try so many different items from the menu!

What did $175, all in, get us? Best Resturant experience I've had in the area. Had some difficulty making reservations through OpenTable (partly my fault) but the outstanding and charismatic GM Johnathon took care of everything - thanks again for helping me make my wife's birthday special! We enjoyed the salad, Tapas, the trip-worthy unique desert, and a bottle of wine. See pictures. All in a perfect classy and scenic atmosphere.

Stopped by when in Grand rapids. Would definitely come again. Food was great. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. View, best in GR.

We reserved a beautiful spot on the 27th floor of the Amway Grand Hotel to enjoy delicious Spanish Cuisine. The last time we were in this space it was Cygnus. The makeover is modern and chic. Love the marble with the gold accents and wood for warmth. The view is nice. We opted to forego the non refundable $20 for a table by the window. I was happy with where we sat. Staff brought out some delicious olives for an appetizer. They had a delicious looking cocktail menu and comprehensive wine list, but I did not imbibe on this occasion. My husband and I ordered the ensalada de pepino, pulpo a la gallega, chicken buñuelos, and patatas bravas as our tapas. Everything was good as expected. The octopus was tender and spiced to perfection. The stand out for me was finally trying the El Limon for dessert. It was unique, flavorful and everything that I had hoped for when I finally tried that dessert for the first time. They also bring cute hand made chocolates with the bill that are tasty. Definitely a delicious spot and a special place to celebrate 15 years of marriage. Hope to return soon to celebrate further milestones.

MDRD has such a great atmosphere with live guitar, stunning views, and a fun Spanish tapas vibe. We tried a couple drinks--the mezcal tequila cocktail/ube drink, and an espresso martini. The ube drink wasn't my favorite (a little too strong for me), but the other was enjoyable. For dessert, we had the cheesecake with peach coulis, white chocolate, and hazelnut, which was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and the overall experience made for a really memorable night out.

The dessert from the taste of Madrid, It was so artistic We did not want to eat it.!

This is an incredible experience from a dining perspective and the view is amazing. The only reason I don't give it five stars is the service wasn't to the level I expected it took 2 1/2 hours almost 3 hours to eat there were times we we were waiting quite a bit although we weren't in a rush. It was too long. In addition the server didn't seem to quite be able to describe the dishes to help us understand, but once we got the food, it was all delicious. It was excellent to try new things. I had the lamb chop dish and tried the taste of Madrid, which gives you four different courses. The dessert was one of the most artistic and coolest desserts we've ever had.

We went to MDRD for drinks and desserts, and it was sooooo worth it! As always, the service is phenomenal- I swear they have some of the best servers in GR. The desserts are creative, beautiful, and divine. We had the "tree" and a chocolate cheesecake. Both were rich and heavenly! Their drinks are also top notch, and perfect to sip on while you're savoring the view. This place is a little pricy, but worth the splurge for the experience!

What a beautiful way to spend a Wednesday evening! MDRD sits on the 27th floor of the Amway Grand Hotel and features gorgeous sunsets and city views. Our server Jesse was so helpful in making recommendations and they were very serious about precautions for my seafood allergy. We started with cocktails. My hubby had a limited time drink called the El Abejorro that contained brown butter vodka and honey...amazing and I hope they add it to the menu. We ate Tapas and were stuffed at the end! The star of the show was the Pimento Rellenos stuffed with goat cheese, pistachios and all things goodness Each plate was timely and impeccably presented. The vine of the restaurant was very trendy-hip I felt like we could be in New York. Can't say enough about the views and service. Looking forward to adding this to our must go to for our monthly trips to Grand Rapids.

The interior is a nice vibe with picnic tables and booths, as well as a bar and high tops. There is a waitress but you can also order at the bar. The food did take awhile though. We got chips and guac, which I really liked the homemade chips, and the taco special on Tuesdays. For $25, you can pick steak, chicken, or birria tacos; you can mix and match any way you like, so we got 2 steak and 8 birria. It comes with cilantro and onions and salsa roja and verde. I was told the birria tacos were the same as the quesabirria, but just know that for this Tuesdays special, they're not -- it is only the birria taco meat with consommé on the side, no cheese or taco shells dipped in the consommé. UPDATE: My fiancé went back here with his dad a few days later, and he claims the chips tasted old or stale and the birria cheese dip appetizer was too watery and did actually come with birria in it (he had to ask for it and was given a tiny portion). Nonetheless, I'd love to come back here for tacos (quesabirria or steak) and definitely want to try the shrimp ceviche!

One of my good friends took me out for a late birthday celebration here at City Built!…read more This was my first time actually eating here but second time being in/ near the space because a few days before they hosted a World Cup watch party right on Mason street, which was super dope btw! I looked on City Built's website to see the menu before going there (of course) and found out that Los Mariscos De Pancho is now serving their food here which was a nice surprise since I have tried them at their Leonard location a few years back and enjoyed their food! I wish I could've tried some of the food that City Built had before since i had heard good things in the past but loved the combination of both City Built and Los Mariscos De Pancho! While browsing their website, I also found out that there would be open mic night on Thursdays and live music/ concerts on Monday nights which is always fun! We sat at the bar and we were pretty close to the musicians so it was kinda loud but my friend and I were still able to have our conversation. We came on a Thursday night around 6:30pm and it was already a steady amount of people there but as the night progressed the restaurant was more busy. Street parking wasn't too hard to find at this time or maybe we just got lucky.I believe the meters are free after 7pm! Walking in, there's bar seating, booth seating, high top table, coffee table seating, and bench style seating where you can sit yourself. There are 2 different entrances and in front of the main one there's patio seating! We opted to sit at the bar this time since most of the booths were full and it just happened to work out that way. We started off with drinks an alcoholic and non alcoholic version of the Agua De Jamaica and an order of the Garlic Butter Mussels. The my NA Agua De Jamaica was refreshing and much needed for the hot day. The mussels come in a serving of 6 or 12 and next time I would definitely order 12 right off the bat because we ended up ordering another round LOL. The sauce was so good I could drink it. The cucumbers were a nice refreshment/ palate cleanser from all that garlicky, buttery goodness. Just writing this review makes me want more right now! I also thought the mussels were a good size too so I will definitely be ordering those again. We also both ordered the Birria Ramen which came with Texas toast which I've never seen before. The portion size of the ramen was very filling since I was stuffed before our 2nd round of mussels came out (which took longer than anticipated to come out since we had to check to see if the order was put in). I also ordered the Birria Plate (4 birria tacos & consume) to go for my husband, which I should've ordered a bit earlier because of how long the mussels took. In the meantime, my friend wanted an expresso martini which they don't normally serve, but our amazing bartender made his own version with what he had and gave us both a cup to try. I don't even drink expresso martinis like that but the drink he made was delicious! I also heard that they have great beers too but I can't speak to that since I drink beers like that. Overall loved the vibes in here. They had different entertainment options like the live music and a few different board games to pick from. The ambiance had lots of natural light, and cute string lights, and overall a nice place to have dinner and drinks! Service was a bit on the slower side, maybe for this particular day, but everyone we interacted with was very friendly.
