The staff were amazing in handling my care as I went twice to this emergency with no wait time (at those moments) for abdominal pains. Charlie, Dr. Sok, and Sam were very attentive, kind, and gentle in communicating and doing their interventions throughout my duration at the ER and informed me very thoroughly about my plan of care and possible diagnoses. Furthermore, they continuously checked up on me while tests and imaging were being reviewed or being processed. I enjoyed the environment and welcoming atmosphere from the time I walked in until the time I was discharged. They performed labs, CT scans with contrast, and IV fluids for my abdominal pain. They prescribed me appropriate medications pertaining to my diagnosis and gave me written discharge education and instructions. read more

Was immediately seen, but had to wait in the room for a lengthy amount of time for physician and Imaging techs to be called and arrive on site. Once the staff arrived care was great, it just took a while. Quality of care and any needs once I left hospital, including getting a full billing summary, copies of my imaging reports and medical records, has proven impossible. I have called 20x times, sent emails, with no luck. No one has ever returned my calls, and when I call in the only person I've ever been able to with was the receptionist who states there is no management at this ER, no administration, and apparently no one running place. As for billing, they are in the middle of changing billing providers, and the one listed on their website states they have no longer affiliated with Highland Park Emergency for good reason. Overall, unless it's a life and death issue, I'd highly recommend going anywhere else. read more

When my boyfriend got hit in the face with a hockey stick last night, we were looking for a nearby urgent care or emergency room. We went in here around 9:45 pm on a Wednesday, had to fill out paperwork and wait about 5 minutes. There was a cooler with water and such that helped pass the time. They were extremely nice, made sure we were both comfortable, offered up all the care instructions we could want, and obviously gave the best medical care they could (a few stitches) to my boyfriends face. They take our insurance but they do operate as an ER (not urgent care) which we knew, but these do function differently insurance wise. While I hope not to be back here, it's so nice to know there is a dependable place in the neighborhood for accidents or injuries. read more

Not good. Went here for a broken wrist and dislocated elbow. What a bunch of quacks. Took both the Doctor and the Medical Assistant with the help of my 2 friends to set my elbow. The put a splint on my wrist that weighed a ton and blocked the mobility of my thumb. I went to an Orthopedist today who could not believe what they had done. I love this free-standing ER. I have never had to wait during an emergency. I get in immediately and they have the best patient care. This is an Emergency Room just like any hospital but absolutely NO wait and the doctors and nurses have time to spend with you, listen to what is wrong, and help you. My story begins with having horrible strep throat symptoms. I went to a near by walk in clinic which was closed. A friend suggested this place. I walked in and asked the front desk how much treatment services would be and was told my BCBS insurance covered me there. I received a $3,000 bill for being treated for strep throat. Unfortunately, my type of BCBS insurance has a high deductible and HPER is not in my coverage plan. I filed an appeal and my bill was adjusted to $1,000 which I'm responsible to pay. I accept full responsibility and should have checked my insurance MYSELF and not listened to someone at the front desk. I'm warning others, BE CAREFUL going here for treatment. Know what your insurance covers and check to see if it's in your plan before walking in. read more

I came here after with a concussion and was seen within minutes of walking in the door. The staff even turned off the lights in my room before I walked back and offered a warm blanket! I called ahead to ensure a CT scan would be available (they are a stand-alone, which can be hit and miss with technology). My head was pounding and I saw spots, but the entire staff was extremely caring and spoke in a soft tone. I was given pain medicine quickly and written a script that seemed to work well with my symptoms. They told me to call or come back within the next 10 days if I had any issues and it would be considered the same office visit (BIG perk). I had a fabulous experience and billing was the same way. As a college student, I am on a payment plan which was easy to arrange! Side note: there was a great selection of snacks, Gatorade, juice and the option of room temperature vs. cold water. read more

I went into Highland Park Emergency Center for stomach pain. Dr. Mahbubani treated me and couldn't have been more patient while listening to my WebMD diagnose, which was, you guessed it, WRONG. He thought it could be gallstones, so we did an MRI. Turned out I had some pretty large gallstones and Dr. Mahbubani gave me multiple care options. Staff was very kind, and very through. I never felt rushed, or like an inconvenience. Doctor made sure I understood everything and didn't overwhelm me with large medical terms. I hope other doctors can learn a thing or two from him about bedside manner! I can't say enough good things about the doctor and staff. My husband woke up in the middle of the night vomiting complaining of the worst headache of his life. After several hours and the symptoms not subsiding, I took him to Highland Park ER. Clint and Sam were our nurses, and were absolutely incredible!!! It's not fun coming to the ER at 4 am on a Friday night, but they made it as painless and possible and kept us laughing and entertained while we waited for test results. My boyfriend came into here due to having heart attack sx. This place is absolutely ridiculous. First thing we asked was whether they accepted his insurance, and they lied to us saying they did. Turns out, they don't accept any insurance. They had him sign all these documents while he is in high fear for his life, not allowing me to view exactly what he's signing for. They simply did a blood draw and EKG, and we are now being charged over 7K for the 30 minutes we spend there. No explanation, no sympathy, no regard for their customers. They just want your money. WARNING: To avoid any financial issues, call your insurance first to make sure this place is in network. This ER has a separate billing company, and they cannot verify on-site if your insurance is accepted or not. Even worse, it takes 3-4 weeks to get a statement after your visit, so you will have no idea what you owe. I had my ER visit in November 2012, and I'm still in a battle with them and my insurance company about $350 they are trying to overcharge because of the prices they pay for services that are higher than other ERs. That being said, I had the BEST experience ever at the ER. First, my wait time was maybe 15 minutes instead of hours or all night long versus any other ER when I busted my foot open from glass breaking on the floor. Pros - Little wait time - Very new, clean, professional facility - Complimentary snacks and drinks while you wait (if you even have to wait!) - Staff was very nice - Physician was quick, thorough, and talked me through everything - TVs were in the procedure room to get my mind off the stitches - Ample parking right in front The service is phenomenal, but the billing is awful. From the time I split my foot open to the ER and back home again it was only ONE HOUR. To me, that is worth the billing hassle because I've been in hospital ERs with friends and had to wait all night, it was horrible! read more

Oh my gosh! This is the best place to go for emergencies! You can always check on the website to see what the waiting times are. However, I was there around midnight last night and was in and out in 15 minutes with the best treatment, medication, staffs. They actually listen to what you need and accommodate it as best as they can instead of the tradition well the doctor has to evaluate you and then he will decide if what I NEED is needed. These doctors are essentially thinking ok how do I even code this diagnosis to bill insurance instead of putting your care first. I have been to the Lemmon location at least 4 times and they have never failed to impress (well there was that one time but heck it's Covid symptoms so I'd be cautious and lost too if I were the staffs). read more

I went here a while back to get a rapid COVID test and a strep test. They swabbed my nose and I waited 20 min for results. I ended up having strep but not COVID. Now a month later they are billing my insurance $6000! Insurance is not covering all of it and I am responsible for the rest. This place is a rip off DO NOT GO HERE!!! I had to pay a copay of $150 at the office, so I assumed that was all I had to pay. Confirmed w/their 3rd party billing that the 'facility charge' in excess of $1K is basically the fee you incur just by setting foot into one of their rooms. They charge you for the isopropyl alcohol/hydrogen peroxide used to swab your arm pre-blood draw by the PINT. Why? Those are 'standard charges' the ridiculously named 'patient advocate' clarified helpfully. Standard according to whose standard? ...oh but if you're willing to settle the bill in full now, we can offer you an approx 50% discount! Being able to knock off that much off the bill right off the bat is super-telling how scammy the initial pricing is. Akin to I'll charge you $50 for a stamp, but if you want to pay cash, I can sell it to you for $0.25." Artificially inflated pricing by thousand of percentage points in the 1st place. Fuqing 7 DOLLARS for a BAND AID- and the rest of their services billed to similarly RIDICULOUS rates! Staying the HELL away from this place next time. read more

I'm so glad they opened on Lemmon Ave. It's very close to our home and a great thing to have at your disposal 24 hours a day. I had to go here Saturday after a day long, severe migraine. The place is great. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, caring and helpful. They let you know everything they were doing or about to do, every step of the way. There was only 1 other person seeking attention when we got there and I did not have to wait more than a couple of minutes before I was being attended to. The nurse was great, and the doctor took care of me and knocked my migraine out. As the other review mentioned, it was more spa like than any ER I've ever been in. They even had a snack bar area with free treats for anyone in the waiting area. And that helped with our 3 year old having to wait for her Papa to be taken care of. I would not hesitate to go back and would highly recommend Highland Park Emergency Center if you ever find yourself nearby and in need. read more

Don't be lured in by the plentiful waiting room snacks and beverages, soothing waterfall feature, jazzy elevator music, and spa-like ambiance. Despite carefully confirming insurance acceptance by the receptionist and reading check-in documents, I have been fully duped by Highland Park Emergency Center. My visit was as I expected from a health care provider. The doctor and nurse were attentive, careful with my IVs, and I received treatment for my ailment. The care I received wasn't above any medical standard of care and therefore doesn't justify the headache I still have after visiting the facility. Four months after being treated, I am still battling with Highland Park Emergency Center regarding payment. My insurance paid at in-network level, and I am still being sent invoices for nine times my copay amount to cover their 'non-negotiable' facility and physician fees. Please read that again - NINE TIMES MY COPAY AMOUNT. And this is a reduced fee from the original invoices they sent me! I have spent countless hours on the phone with their office appealing this dirty trick they have played on me. I'm so frustrated and angry; my head might explode (but please note - if my head actually explodes, I have instructed my family to take me to another facility that won't charge my remaining arm and leg). All sarcasm aside, I whole heartedly believe this facility's business practice has been set up to take advantage of the sick and injured. The "suburbian ER" is a newer model in emergency care. Sure, they don't take government insurance, but they DO take private insurance which (hopefully) most of us Yelpers have. Recognize, as Mark B. found out the hard way, that this is not a minute clinic but a bonafide stand-alone EMERGENGY ROOM. Therefore, you WILL be charged your ER visit co-pay to be seen here... This info is usually on your insurance card and usually is around $75-100 (and up) depending on your plan. It is hard to explain how nice this facility is. It's sort of like the "W Hotel" or "Virgin America" of ERs. It's brand new (and still has a new ER smell... you know from new carpets, new furniture, etc), there is a huge slimline LED TV in the waiting room and in each exam room, modern pendant lighting and leather furniture. The pictures provided on Yelp are accurate. Really appreciated the FREE premium snacks and drinks in the waiting room (Chex Mix, Austin Toasty Crackers, Coke products, pretzels, trail mix, bottled water, etc.). A major perk of the suburbian ER is they are less busy than other ERs so you are potentially seen much faster. My wife had severe neck pain and we came in at 6:30pm on a Wednesday. We were the only people in there. As soon as she was done with her paperwork (~5-10 mins) we were escorted to a very nice exam room. Nurses were in to do vitals and take history after a couple mins and the ER doc came in 2 minutes after that. We were there a total of about an hour which was appropriate because they wanted to wait to see that my wife was responding to the medication satisfactorily. My wife and I are both MDs and we found Dr. Butler to be a competent physician with a good bedside manner. He performed the appropriate objective exams. We agreed with his opinion and it was addressed properly and resolved in a satisfactory manner. Overall, we were VERY impressed by this facility and if we are ever back in the Dallas area again and in need of emergency services we would not hesitate to return. I had to come in to go into Preston Hollow ER on New Year's Day to have an injury checked out and wound up having an emergency procedure. My first impression upon walking in was how clean and well kept the lobby/waiting room was. I filled out paperwork and they got me back into a room in less than 10 minutes upon arrival. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Mahbubani. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He took the time to explain to me what my options were, and talked me through the procedure as he was working on me. I had to visit Highland Park ER for my check up two days later and was equally pleased with that location. The nurses, as well as other staff members were also very helpful and accommodating. Dr says she cannot tell me who has the treatment without me checking in as a patient. Told her fine I'll go to St Pauls. Dr replies they don't have it. I suggest Parkland. Dr replies the only way she can say is if I check in and she can transfer me. Plus I won't have to wait after I drive there. I highly recommend this ER to anyone needing emergency medical care. I have suffered from kidney stones for years. This last one was severe. I dread going to the emergency room. I could not hold down my medicine, it was non stop vomiting, but minutes after arriving they had an IV in me and I felt much better. I never thought about taking my children to an Emergency Room, but after this positive experience, if I need an ER for one of my daughters, I will be back! read more
