When we arrived--within what I understood to be the standard 15-minute grace period--we were told they would not be seeing us. I asked if they could make an exception, given our long-standing relationship and the fact that we did call ahead, but was told very firmly, "We only see patients who arrive on time." What was most surprising was how unprofessional the interaction felt. The receptionist told us we could sit in the lobby, but there was no guarantee when or if they'd be able to fit us in. She also stated that the decision came directly from the head doctor of the practice which was especially disappointing after over a decade of care. We understand that schedules are tight and policies are necessary, but there was no flexibility, compassion, or consideration shown--not even a reasonable explanation that we called ahead of time. It's unfortunate to be treated this way after so many years, and we're now re-evaluating whether this is the kind of practice we want to continue trusting with our child's healthcare.

Doctor Varghese saw both of them for no more than 5 min in total, prescribed two tests, and charged around $500, which included $310 for the "office visit" At this rate, just office visits alone would yield $3,720 / hour! The office staff is unprofessional, the billing department refused to make any adjustment to the bill, stating that it took time for the doctor to call me and to leave a voicemail about the test results! I would not recommend this office to anyone with a high deductible policy, anyone who is looking for a bit more than mediocre care at an inflated cost, anyone who values their time, convenience, and care for their children.

She(med tech) could not give the Rota virus (liquid vaccination) by mouth so She had asked me if I can give her the oral liquid. So I had to do it for her and she gives two shots to my child and then pokes herself with the needle and her blood is falling on my child. She wasn't wearing gloves and She quickly leaves the room bc she says she needs another band aid bc my daughter is bleeding so much.....when it was her (med tech's) blood that was falling on my daughter and while she is gone I'm wiping away the blood and am furious at this point. She comes back and sees there is no blood and says ohh I thought she had blood on her. I am ready to leave and complain to the lady sitting at the front. She realizes something happened bc my face said it all. After telling her what just happened she goes to Tell the doctor and returns back to me and just apologizes on what happened. You would think the doctor (Dr. Sapps) would come out and apologize about what just happened but he did not. Will not return to this place and don't recommend this place to anyone!!! My son actually had the same doctor that I had growing up for the first two years of his life. I was very sad to see her retire but not worried about finding a new doctor within the practice. We have been seeing Dr. Waterman for the last 3 years and now she sees my baby girl. She is so helpful and personable. She is very knowledgable and listens to all the questions that you can come up with. The new office expansion is great. It allows for extra rooms and they have enough toys and books in the waiting room that we actually stay after our appointments to play. But we are never waiting for more than a few minutes to be called back to our room. The nurses are fantastic. They are kind, patient and thorough. We all know it can be a whirlwind with kids but they always handle everything so smoothly. The nurses are very helpful over the phone and relay messages to the doctors in an appropriate time frame. Two generations have been going to this practice so it should be obvious that the doctors and the nurses are phenomenal. I would recommend this practice to anyone that wants to have a stress free and enjoyable doctor experience for their family.

I started with Dr. Martin at the downtown office, and then a friend recommended Dr. Rao, so I started taking my son to see her up at the Northbrook office, which I prefer due to it being a smaller, less crowded office. Both doctors that we have seen were great with my son and have been very thorough in making sure he is the healthiest he can be. I'd definitely recommend the NMPG pediatrics group.
