Really just a great way to spend some time in the mountains and enjoy the weather especially when hiking gets a little boring. John and Kat were great guides and did a good job keeping conversation while me and my sis waited for the other guests to use the zip line. What better way to see the natural splendor of Highlands than by an aerial park? That was our thought when we booked a reservation for our group that had two small kiddos. We went with Zippy's Tree Top Adventure Course given the age of the kids and we all had a great time. Even though Zippy's is tailored for families, it can be challenging and fun for adults as well, especially if you are like us where you can't remember the last time you were on a zip line or a ropes course. The course is essentially a circuit of several stations and you can keep doing them to your heart's desire until your time runs out. There are guides to help walk you through the area who are also outfitted with go pros to capture your experience. After about 30 minutes, we were all pretty gassed, and we had a great time examining the go pro film and pictures. If you are new to the area like us, stopping in at the aerial park is a must given that it's not every day that you are surrounded by such natural beauty. We plan to be back on hopefully our next trip to highlands so we can try out some of the more difficult courses, or we may just do Zippy's again. read more

We had an awesome experience at Highlands Aerial Park! Our canopy guides were incredible. They provided the perfect amount of entertainment, including frequent jokes, information about the area, and an incredulous amount of zipping expertise. We initially signed up for the half tour, which includes just the first four lines, but after reading the reviews, we realized quickly that the full canopy tour (all 8 lines) was worth the extra money. The only drawback we experienced was photo related. We had to give up all phones/items before gearing up so we weren't even able to take a picture with our gear on and of course not during in any of the zip lining experience... they do have baskets and other secure ways for you to leave your stuff in-house before you embark on your journey which I found convenient. But the whole idea is that they make money off of picture sales, so no documentation or proof of fun unless you pay for it. Well, initially our guides forgot the Go Pro camera, but thankfully we caught it when it was not too late...I asked for a shot before heading to the first line. Had I not asked, the whole group would be photoless. We received access to our digital photos the very next day! Happy to have the opportunity to review and purchase them so quickly !! Beautiful hidden gem. We didn't do the zip lines, but we did walk the trail to the waterfall. It was great and the area is beautifully maintained. Make reservations for the zip line and the ATV as they book out days in advance. The staff was extremely helpful and full of great information. Second time visiting Highlands Aerial Park except this time it was during Covid. My daughter did the Brave Indian Challenge Course which is perfect for kids and includes two zip lines. Due to Covid, they're not operating their tours at full capacity so reserve in advance to save your spot! Because of NC laws, masks are mandatory for anyone over 11 years of age. My daughter is 7 but wore hers anyway. The staff, as always, was friendly and knowledgeable on safety. This is definitely a must if you're in the area! read more

Grey and Dayna were our guides and they did an awesome job. Both were professional, friendly and very knowledgable. We will no doubt go back to Highlands Aerial Park next time we are in the area. They also have a very nice trail that family members who are not ziplining can walk to pass the time while waiting. It ends in a beautiful waterfall that is virtually private because while it is in the National Forest it is only a short walk from the edge of their property so the public can't easily access it. read more

I had such an awesome first ziplining experience at Highlands Aerial Park yesterday. We did the full tour and our guides Gabby and Michael were phenomenal. They made everyone feel safe and were fun to chat with. It took about 1.5 hrs for the full tour but only 5 ppl were in our group overall. Each line was more beautiful than the next. BEAUTIFUL views of the trees changing colors in the mountains. Highly recommend this as a short family friendly weekend activity. read more

First time ziplining experience was fun! HAP is kinda tough to spot and could be easily missed. A mountainside cabin with some friendly staff. We initially signed up for half canopy tour but ended up upgrading to the full canopy tour. The best lines were the 5th (squealing mare) and 6th ones - these were the longest and well as were at an greater elevation than the other 6 lines. Our tour guides, Irissa and Michael were fun, professional and friendly and made the technique very clear and simple. The only reason I'm knocking a star off is because the rest of the zip lines other than the two mentioned, do not cause an adrenaline rush or offer an scenic view that made the entire experience passable but not fantastic. Overall, HAP is a decent choice for ziplining if you're inwest NC, just make sure you do your research on several other zip lines before narrowing down this one. read more

Took 11 teenagers and young adults on the full zip-line tour. It was a blast!! Great views and experience. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Our guides, Grey and Peyton, were awesome. They shared fun facts about the forest/course and interacted with our group throughout the whole course. Our tour even included Go-Pro footage that captured lots of fun moments. All the pictures and videos were given to us on a flash drive afterwards, which I really appreciated. I highly recommended visiting the Aerial Park, and I hope to visit again someday! read more

My wife and I took our daughter and two grands. Safety is the foundation here and it shows from the staff to the training to the facility to attention on the canopy. There is something here for all ages. My wife and one Gran went on the Brave Indian canopy while we three went to the 1/2 canopy tour. All had a great time! I will be back next year. What an amazing experience! My brother and I came up from Atlanta and decided to try zip lining! From the get go everyone was extremely nice and helpful over the phone and in person. The instructors Chris and Art were able to break down the procedure step by step for us newbies while making it fun. We had a small group of 4 so we got to know each other pretty well and honestly the staff made the trip for us. I highly recommend doing the longer run of 8 courses. The first 4 were almost beginner ones but man oh man the 5th and 6th you go between two mountains over a valley. You can see all the way to Tennessee! It's stunning! Only draw back is that it's fairly expensive, but if you have the extra scratch and are looking for a fantastic experience in and above the trees with friends or family this is the place for you! (P.S. you get a discount card when you get back for a return trip!) read more

We had a great time with the extended family, all 12 of us. Kids from 12 years old to grandparents in their 60's did it. The zip line over the valley is breathtaking. One small change I would suggest to the owners would be to also have the Go Pro on the receiving guide's helmet so that you not only capture the send off (the back of the rider) but also the landing (the face of the rider). read more

My family did the two hour zip line and loved it. Mike and Kai were great guides. Having to figure out how to break was a little stressful but wasn't hard except for on the longer zip lines. Wasn't able to slow down at all on one, but they caught me and it was a ton of fun. The views are gorgeous, especially on the two longer lines. read more

The staff here is fantastic. The young ladies and gentlemen running the shop and leading the tours were personable, funny, and professional. We chose to do the shorter of the options for the zip lining. For the money ($50/person!), it was not worth it. 4 short zips, and we were done. We had the option to do the longer zips, but for an additional cost. Again, great staff! However, the cost does not reflect what you get in terms of zip lining. read more

I will admit that I was incredibly nervous upon arriving. I'd never gone ziplining before and it was truly nerve wrecking waiting there for our tour to start wondering how I would do. Our guides were so AWESOME that you seriously forgot how afraid you are and just felt super safe. I only did the short round only because it was truly freezing and the wind was working against my 5'1'' 100 lbs frame. However, if we had not gone in dead on winter I would do the entire tour of zip lines. Those guys are great and were so welcoming and comforting! read more

Our interaction with this business left much to be desired. We were very excited to go zip lining, however the attitude and rudeness of the desk person instantly ruined any excitement that we had. We came in with everything ready, and as they were checking to make sure that we all fit the requirements for their gear, we realized that one of the people in our group was too heavy to go zip lining. Of course, this was not the problem that we had; it was the way that the woman working the front desk responded. First, while she was explaining why he wouldn't be able to ride. She said (paraphrased) , "It's not necessarily your weight, it's the speed that you're going" - if she had stopped here, that would have been fine, but she continued to say- "I mean I'm so tiny that I have to tuck in my legs and I don't even make it all the way across." She said this with a very braggy and narcissistic tone. This was very unprofessional due to the fact that our friend was being told that he couldn't zip line because of his weight and that while we were actively trying to find a solution to this she is bragging about how "tiny" she is. The only solution that she gave was for the rest of the group to go zip lining without our friend, and he can go on a tree swing by himself. She then went on to say, basically, that he needed to lose some weight and then come back when he's under the weight limit and he'll get to zip line for "free"- which wouldn't even be free because he had to pay in the first place (WOW, THANKS!!! SO GENEROUS!!!!) We then asked if we could just do the whole refund, and instead of just letting us go, she decided to ask her coworkers for an actual scale to see his number weight and how far he was over. She did not ask if we even wanted to see that in the first place, and basically just disappeared and then came back saying they were going to get the scale. This was clearly just a ploy to keep our money. When they finally got the scale, she got on to test it, then proceeded to scoff and say "wow, I put on a few pounds, I also need to lose a few pounds." "Also" as in she was telling our friend that he needed to lose weight, when he is fine just the way he is. When he was weighed, he was ONE POUND over the maximum weight they would allow (the weight that they tested the gear on). Then, after this whole fiasco, she had another guy that came and said that he couldn't do it. We then said (again) that we wanted a refund and left. This entire situation could have been avoided if they had been professional about it and let us take our refund and go in the first place. But they decided to be extremely unprofessional because they only wanted our money. Also, I would recommend for this business to make the weight limit more clear by adding it to the registration so we don't have to pay 600 dollars for us to show up and then be turned away. read more

We had an awesome time at Highlands Aerial Park! None of the five of us had ever Ziplined before so we were a little anxious upon arrival but we were ready for the adventure. We signed up for the full mountain experience, which was great but truthfully left me wanting just one more line. Lol! As we were driving towards the park, my anxiety creeped up a little bit when we saw dark rain clouds in the area but it wasn't yet raining in the mountain. Upon arrival, we were told that there was lightning in the area and we would have to delay our start time. We didn't have any other plans so that wasn't a big deal to us at all. We waited patiently for the all clear and headed to the back deck to get our gear on. We were met by Tristan and Jose, our guides. They fitted us with our harnesses and gave us some instructions and then we headed up the hill. To say that we had a great time would be an understatement. It was a thrill, especially to see my kids take off of those platforms with very little hesitation and the view was awesome looking through the valley. Tristan and Jose were a great team and very down to earth fellas and knew exactly how to put us at ease. We highly recommend the drive to Highland Aerial Park if you are in the area! read more
