Just an indoor facility with cages. Who wants to go stay at a place like that?? When we moved to Washington, we found Tiger Mountain Kennel and couldn't be happier. The kennels are in Issaquah in a mountain-retreat-like property between the houses of Norm and his daughter/her family. It's picturesque, filled with flowers tree's and lot's of space. Norm takes great care to make sure your dog/cat/whatever is in his schedule book, is walked several times a day and gets the medication they need if that applies. He is always friendly, is great with the animals and is very professional. The prices are affordable and we trust this family completely with our dog. Highly recommend!!

My personal preference is for my dog to not be in a kennel or cage so that was my guideline. The first time we needed to use Happy Hound was on fairly short notice and I appreciated that they were able to accommodate me. HHH requires each dog to come in to visit and be evaluated before coming for a stay. The staff also will give a tour of the facility, which was reassuring to me. The evaluation was not really formal, my sense was just to see if they behave well around other dogs and would do OK at the facility. Note that they don't allow young children to come to the tour or inside the facility - I actually appreciate that even though it required some extra planning. After the first time I dropped off my dog, one of the staff called me one or two days later to let me know that she was doing fine and enjoyed hanging out in the kitchen. It was a very nice gesture for them to call. A different time that we brought our dog, she was very nervous to even get out of the car - the manager was so patient and gentle in helping get her out of the car and then called me a couple of hours later to tell me that she was doing well. I even received a couple of photos emailed to me from her stay - hanging out in the kitchen of course. If my dog was high energy, this place would be heaven for her given all the outdoor activities and opportunity to run, move and play. Since she's older and low energy, the staff tries to have her hang out with some older or calmer dogs. I agree that the price is a bit high, but it's a different pricing model (one price and the dogs have fairly free range) than other places which have a set price and then you add on for outdoor time or playtime per day, etc. I really feel like the owner and people working there care about the dogs and are knowledgeable. I separately asked the owner for advice on a concern with my dog and she replied quickly, remembered my dog and had good input. We'll certainly be back, whenever we need a dog hotel!

I like the fact that this Happy Hound Hotel is a no kennel boarding facility, I would never lock my dogs up in cages, and so I can appreciate that. The owner Linda is an overall caring person, and I honestly believe she cares for the dogs, but I just think she over crowds her boarding facility. I know it's busy over holidays, and I remember being concerned by the number of dogs when I dropped off my dog, and after picking her up, she came down with a pretty bad case of kennel cough. I also think It's hard to provide personal attention to every dog when there are thirty-five or forty others to care for at the same time, and chances are some dogs might not be corrected fast enough when they are rough with other dogs. Does not accept smaller breeds, and so we had to separate our dogs and board them in different facilities. This was a big disappointment. The cost for boarding is on the high side. And I read that starting in January 2013, the price is increasing by almost $5.00 per day. I will not be taking my dog back to Happy Hound Hotel in Sammamish. I will look for a place that does not board so many dogs and doesn't charge close to $60.00 per day.

She took such great care of Scamper years ago, that we hired her to care for our other cat while we went out of the country for 3 weeks. She administered meds and fluids, made sure she had plenty of water and food and cleaned the litter box. Alesia and Angie (her assistant) sent us pictures so we knew Hunter was well cared for. We also had a house sitter at the time and there were some things Alesia thought were amiss. She contacted us and let us know what was going on and we had to let our house sitter go. She is a highly ethical person who went above and beyond what we had hired her for. I can't say enough. I would trust my pet and my home with Alesia and her assistant Angie anytime. I am grateful to have found such a loving, kind and compassionate person to care for my pets. I know they are in the best of hands when I am gone.

There aren't many on the Eastside, and even fewer who know cats well. We tried out Meow & Beyond after a poor experience with a service that catered mainly to dogs and were blown away. Larissa, Rodrigo, and their associates Heidi and Skyler are fabulous and intuitive cat caretakers. We've had all four come to our house at some point to visit our cats during our trips, and they do a better job than *we* do at ensuring the cats get their "hunt, catch, kill, eat" play and feeding routine! When we come home, we can tell how relaxed and content our cats are because of how thoroughly their energy was drained every day and how well the sitter catered attention to each cat. The sitter leaves a unique QR code printout at our house and uses it to "check in/out" when they come and go, and the end of every session is marked by a brief, informative email (and usually pictures) about what the cats were up to that morning or evening. Getting the pictures and details are the best parts of our days while we're gone! Larissa is quick to respond to email requests for sitting and is very communicative about the reservation. Larissa, Rodrigo, Heidi, and Skyler are all attentive to instructions or requests we've given them and do everything they can to make sure the cats are happy. During one of our trips, Heidi even went above and beyond to check the porch every day and bring in a couple of large, unwieldy boxes when we told her we were expecting some packages. Essentially, the humans and felines in our house can't recommend Meow & Beyond enough. (Thanks, guys!)

On a few occasions when I was working from home, I watched as his regular walker arrived--Charlie would be waiting at the window and greeted them with full-body wags every time. When Charlie's hips started bothering him as he got older, the team helped me adjust his walks so he could continue enjoying his outdoor adventures.
