Franklin Falls Flow is an Impoundment on the Saranac River thanks to Paul Smith's Electric Light and Power Company dam. Much of the lake is under 10 feet deep, so boaters need to be cautious. The lake has a nice view of Whiteface Mountain. There is a non-paved boat launch nearby but it is not the usual sort of lake. As it is manmade, you can expect more than the usual rocks and stumps. This is challenging because of the small size and limited sites. I try at least six months in advance for a water site. The water sites are hard to get. I will stay at any of them they are all wonderful. The lake is very refreshing and the beach is fun. There is a huge rock in the middle of the lake that my family takes pictures at. It is quit a wonderful view. I love coming here to camp. All the campers are always friendly and polite. I have talked with many and they all think this campground is a hidden gem.

It looks scary to me but I am sure it's fun for those adrenaline junkies and brave tobagganers. In the summer you can canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddle-board. Ironman competitions take place here too. There are fun ducks and seagulls to look at around the lake. It was more boring during the time that I came since it was too late for summer lake activities and too early for winter lake activities.
