This visit was a waste of time and money. My son had just turned one a few weeks before visit. I was referred to this office because they advertise to work with kids after 1year old for lip/tongue ties. When I made the appointment, they said to come in for a consultation and they would assess if procedure is needed. When they called to confirm the appt a few days before, I very clearly asked (again) if working on babies over one year of age is something she does and they very clearly said yes. At that time, I notified them I didn't want to come in unless it was a real possibility because I didn't want waste any time driving there and doing the appointment and driving back. They confirmed with me yes it's absolutely likely they will do procedure on him but they would assess at consultation. So I loaded up, drove there, did the appointment and the doctor told me no she cannot work on my son because he's over one and too active. This is fine, I realized there was a slight possibility they would disconcer at consultation that the procedure could not be done as I was informed of that. They had told me the was a possibility not but a high possibility they could. I was leaving the appointment and stopped by the front desk to pay for some ridiculous toothpaste and tooth conditioner (that I never used) when the woman behind the counter tells me my total was over $500??? For what?? So I paid $500+ to drive there, Sit in an appointment waiting around to be told they won't do the procedure. (I think consultation was maybe $350 and whatever else they sold me was overpriced around $200) you would think upon making an appointment they would inform people that the consultation is not free. Or especially on the second call to confirm the upcoming appointment when I said I don't want to waste time driving there unless the procedure is a strong possibility... They may have also informed about the large "consultation charge". But no, I was never informed and it was made out to sound like there was obviously inky a charge if I were to do the procedure. read more

My daughter is actually happy when I tell her that she has a dentist appointment. That how great Dr. Robbins and her staff are! The wait area is a like a little playroom, with a tree that kids can play in, toys and even a video game machine! Patients can even watch a DVD while they get their teeth cleaned! The dental hygienists are super nice and gentle too. When my daughter was younger, she looked forward to getting the stickers and toy at the end of her appointment. My daughter's too old for toys now, but she still likes to think of what movie she'll watch when she's here. Prices are high (my daughter's teeth cleanings are more expensive than mine), which is not surprising given the location. They do not bill insurance companies, so you have to pay up front, but Michelle (who is awesome and very friendly) will give you completed paperwork that you just have to mail to your insurance to get reimbursed. Easy peasy. I wish I had a dentist like Hila Robbins when I was a kid. Even though I'm an adult, I have to admit, I wish I could get my teeth cleaned at here instead. read more

My toddler's dental cleaning went really well I feel so proud of her for listening to Dr. Robbins and her staff and being such a willing participant. This practice and its people are meant to work with children and it's the kind of experience that should be available to all kids. And no fluoride is just the icing on the cake ;) Dr. Robbins has truly created an environment where children can be children. She allowed my daughter to explore all the tools and ask questions. There was such patience and kindness. It was beautiful to witness. An added and unexpected experience: When Dr. Robbins was asking me questions about my little girl's birth, I got emotional when she asked if a vacuum or forceps were used. I said no and that I have some regret about that. She was so reassuring that I made the right decision and spared my baby potential head trauma. Her compassionate nature and empathy as well as her knowledge was lovely. She commended me for following my instincts and told me to look at my daughter's well-formed head/face that's a result of the decision I made. Dr. Robbins' waiting area has lots of toys and a carpeted nook inside a faux tree, containing a plastic play-kitchen. My daughter liked this nook a lot. Dr. Robbins' staff are very friendly and they paid attention to how my daughter was feeling wary of the dentist. There is a tiny (looks like two pounds) blind service dog in the office area (dog is blind, not the staff). The staff played the movie of my daughter's choice on a ceiling DVD player for the duration of the exam. They also used a stuffed dinosaur with a set of plastic human choppers sewn-in, to demonstrate to my daughter the best way to brush and floss. The staff's performance was polished and seamless, and everybody exuded a gentle confidence that allayed fears. The dentist Dr. Robbins took her time with my daughter. She let me lie on the dental chair because my daughter wanted to lie on me instead of lying directly on the chair herself. My daughter did not want to open her mouth, and was afraid of all the dental tools, so the dentist slowly and methodically introduced my daughter to the sharp tools and mirror before using them. My daughter got her choice of two toothpaste flavors for the dentist to use. Dr. Robbins recommended two new anti-cavity candy and vitamin supplement products containing xylitol instead of sugar. I'd not heard of these before, so this was very useful. My daughter was gagging because of all the mouth-probing that she did not enjoy, so the dentist respected my daughter's reflexes by postponing oral X-rays for a separate visit, early in the morning, before my daughter will have eaten anything. Everything was done very slowly and gently. The entire environment is geared to make children feel comfortable. I appreciate this specialization very much. You cannot use your insurance here directly. This clinic does not take payments directly from insurance companies, so if you have any out-of-network coverage then you need to ask your insurance carrier to reimburse you for costs incurred here. read more

I have scheduled two appointments, both of which they say they have no record of. It's a shame because the Dr is great but the staff scheduling is neither nice or helpful. When I said that I had already taken off work based on the appt they set, they said too bad. I said I would have to find another dentist and they said that's fine with us. I was referred to Dr. Robbins by my boss, a integrative pediatrician. My two year old son had not ate a solid food for about 4 days. He was literally surviving off milk, water and milk shakes. His energy was fine and he was acting completely normal until it came down to eat. He would put food in his mouth and just spit it it. I was a wreck trying to figure out what was wrong with him. As soon as we walked into Dr. Robbins office I knew I was in the right place. Her front office staff were sweet and friendly. Everyone acknowledged my little guy and made him feel comfortable. Dr Robbins was very gentle and calming. She turned on his favorite show for him and even gave him some gloves to play with. When he started getting upset she made sure to take breaks from checking his mouth and even had me lay in the chair with him for comfort. Come to find out he had some sort of viral infection in his mouth which caused sores. Instead of pushing unnecessary medications she gave me us oxydated water and told me to make popsicles/ice cubes out of it as well as giving me some natural oils to rub in his mouth. All things that would kill the virus naturally. At the end of the visit got to choose a toy out of the glass toy cabinet. Overall it was such a wonderful experience. And to even make it better, after letting him have the oxydated water and rubbing the oils in his mouth all morning/afternoon...HE ATE DINNER with no problem!! I was beyond ecstatic! I would definitely send all my friends and family to Dr. Robbins office for any pediatric dental needs! read more

Dr Robbins is a remarkable dentist. She is extremely knowledgable and thorough with each and every visit. She is unlike any other dentist I have taken myself or my kids to. She looks at the entire picture, not just your teeth but how everything is connected therefore seeing the bigger picture and cause/ solution of the issue. Dr. Hila was recommended to us by a "fancy" Beverly Hills pediatrician. The dentist and staff are very good with making going to the dentist an enjoyable experience for kids, especially for a young child's first few dental experiences - 5 stars. However, as my child has grown older & required more than a cleaning(i.e. a cavity filled, etc.) I've been disappointed with the lack of parent communication about course of treatment. I was told my child didn't have cavities, but at our next appt for sealant to prevent future cavities a few months later, there was an extensive procedure to eliminate the decay (?), requiring laughing gas, that I was not expecting. Also, this dental practice does not take insurance -cash/credit only - although they'll give you the paperwork to submit to your insurance co. read more

Dr. Robbins might be a fine pediatric dentist, but the staff, scheduling lady, and overall office attitute is awful. We went in for an emergency as our daughter fell and chipped her tooth. We called in and were told to "come in right away". After waiting for 1/2 an hour in the waiting room, and another 40 mintues in the dentist chair, still no dr. After that long wait we got "she should be with you in less that 5 minutes". All the while, the doctor was chit-chatting with another child's mom in the room next door. Not a good first impression at all, and there are many other fine dentists in the area. Stay away if you feel you deserve respect. read more

My son has been going to Dr. Robbins for a couple of years and we've been very happy. For his first visit (his first time to any dentist, for that matter), a nurse came to the waiting room and brought a stuffed animal and huge toothbrush. She proceeded to show him what Dr. Robbins would do when he saw her. The nurse was SO nice. On the way to see Dr. Robbins, my son stopped to pick out a movie he'd like to watch during the exam. Go Diego Go, Toy Story, Little Einsteins....they have about 100 to choose from. We get in the exam room and get to choose a tooth brush - again, all characters he is familiar with. Dr. Robbins comes in, introduces herself, is SO nice and before starting the movie, asks if my son wants to hold her little dog (some really little dog) on her lap. Apparently he's been trained to comfort kids during stressful moments and some kids get stressed at the dentist. He wasn't stressed, but thought it was pretty great he got to watch Buzz Lightyear with a dog on his lap. Her exam was thorough, easy, fast. Upon leaving, my son stopped at the Treasure Tree and picked out a little toy and a sticker. I tell you! Oh, the waiting room - so cool. There's a real tree house for the kids to go in and play. We've never seen more than one other kid in the waiting room, so it's not crowded or unsafe for him to be playing in the tree house. Highly recommend! read more

Dr. Robbins is the best pediatric dentist ever! I agree with the previous reviewer that the assistants at this office are amazing. They will go over everything with you and your kids before anything is done. This place is so kid-friendly! They go out of their way to make sure your kids are comfortable and they use the latest technology. No shots here! They use a special computer "wand" to give anesthesia which is much easier for your kids. Also, the little dog, Holly, is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. She is trained to work with patients and loves sitting with the kids. This office is super clean and the staff are super friendly. I recommend her to all my friends who have kids! read more

We had a follow-up ozone gas treatment. This time my daughter was very calm and did not cry or struggle. Amazing! On Oct 24, right after she turned 3 she got her first restoration treatment. She was sedated with Nitrous Oxide and local anesthesia while watching Dora movie. The whole treatment took about 45 minutes and she did not struggle at all. Only when the procedure was finished and the Nitrous Oxide decreased and sedation reversed did she start crying. Dr. Robbins treated her two molars with ozonated olive oil to kill the bacteria after cleaning out the decay, and then fitted with a glass ionomer liner and biocompatible composite filling that contain neither mercury nor BPA. Due to my daughter's young age I was very apprehensive about whether she could handle treatment with just Nitrous Oxide. Many pediatric dentists we talked to/have seen wanted to give her general anesthesia. When the gas was turned off she recovered right away, though she was so tired from the process that she fell asleep in half hour. After crying and fussing for about 1 1/2 hours before and after nap she calmed down with lunch and then she was happy with the dental work since her teeth don't hurt anymore (after ozone gas brushing did not hurt anymore, but in the last two weeks the teeth hurt when I press on her cheek even though brushing still did not hurt. The restoration treatment did away with the pain completely). We are so happy that her worst cavities are taken care off. Dr. Robbins was also very happy about how beautifully the ozonated oil and restoration worked. We still have some big cavities to work on in the molars on othe other side, plus the front teeth. Now that my daughter has seen how the dental work helps her, she would be more amendable to future treatments. Thanks so much to Dr. Robbins and her assistant Elle! read more

Our daughter loves going to the dentist because of Dr Robbins. First of all, she has never had a cavity and it's because of the protocol of dental care we were given since a young age. They are extremely flexible with schedule changes and always helpful. Some might argue it's not the cheapest. Well how expensive can it be to have to deal with cavities and many other issues?! My kids ADORE Dr. Hila!! They actually look forward to going to the dentist, always asking when they get to go again! It's amazing, really. For me, Dr. Hila has been a grounding force during this journey called parenthood. I took my son to Dr. Robbins for a second opinion for an abnormality in his gums. She confirmed right away what it was and refered us to a wonderful oral surgeon. She also made my son and I feel comfortable while she was explaining the issue. The office is very clean and kid friendly. The staff is wonderful!
