Our car broke down on the highway as we were driving through from VT to down south. We couldn't have gotten any luckier in a crappy situation than having Rob show up. He was extremely kind and went over the top to be helpful- even helping us find a dog friendly hotel for the night when we heard our car would need a new some work done in the morning before we could be on our way. Awful, terrible, dishonest and rude is a good way to summarize this shop. The truth is nonexistent when talking to them, rules and policies change on a whim and getting anyone to help you is quite possibly the hardest part. Lazy employees with zero customer service skills. Never any decision makers to speak with, the only option you're given is to be called back, which usually takes at least a few days. All in all this place is a joke, a failing daily business grasping at straws and doing so at the expense of their customers. read more

Very rude customer service!!! My car got towed due to snow and I've been parking it there for years and NEVER once have I gotten my car towed until now. I called to see if I could pick it up because I have work in the morning and they told me no, they won't be open until the next day at 9 AM. Also they don't tell you the price of service until you show up. They don't want to tell you over the phone!! Don't trust them !!! read more

It's right off the highway but it has no restroom. And the people who work there are so incredebly rude.

Hilario's Towing Early February, just after midnight, 25 degrees and raining. Started my car and began the arduous task of scraping 1/2 inch of ice from the glass. I hear a loud click. I'm locked outside my car -In freezing rain, after a hard night at work. First towing companies I phoned listened to my situation and then said "we have no one available" I suspect my dilemma wasn't lucrative enough for them to get up in the middle of the night. Hilario's said they would have a man there as soon as they could contact him at home. While waiting I phoned again to get a more specific ETA. Whoever I spoke with was able to pin point the tow trucks location via GPS Within the hour I was out of the freezing rain and into my warm car. Unfortunately there was more time involved while the attendant contacted the credit card company and the authorities. Apparently they have to let someone know when they're breaking into a car. That makes sense. I'm thoughtful enough to realize it wasn't his fault. I have no complaints at all. I never been so happy to see a tow truck. The bill was 160 something. It's a lot of money, but I can imagine what it costs to mortgage, maintain and store such a vehicle, and business, get somebody up at midnight, and drive in an ice storm, to literally rescue me. I've never actually used them, however an interaction on a facebook tag sale with an employee convinces me never to use their service.

Really needed a bathroom, found out they didn't have one after I gassed up. The man working seemed quite happy to tell me they didn't have one for me to use. There are signs on rt 84 for gas at this exit but its a bit far and kinda a trap, especially if you really need a bathroom. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Very rude and unprofessional staff. They often block Route 6 both ways for several minutes at a time, restricting the flow of traffic unnecessarily. The drivers believe that having amber lights on the top of their trucks gives them the impunity to drive how they want, endangering the citizens of Fairfield County. read more

Interesting that nearly every review seems to be about using a bathroom. It's a towing company! I've been a customer of Hilario's for YEARS. They do great work, and they have always treated me kindly. Ask for Arty if you're having a problem -- Big Art took care of me like a son, and his son takes care of me like a brother. Great family. I've never had a problem with pricing (they've towed me twice in 20 years, and I've used them for mechanical work on several occasions). Even if you can find a slightly better deal, go with Hilario's. The quality is there. read more

The gentlemen working at the gas station at this establishment was extremely rude. When I asked where I might find a trash can he yelled at me that "we don't take garbage." When I located a trash bin outside (as I purchased gasoline from the establishment) he came running outside swearing repeatedly saying "we don't take f*ing garbage" and "f* you". I am utterly baffled as to how such an establishment stays in business. read more

Rude Employees they are theives we got a price of 800 yo get towed out of the snow on the side of the road for a truck which seems ridiculous. Than they claimed to only accept com check or cash. No debut or credit card payments. I'm on the phone with my driver while other dispatch is on the phone trying to make a payment and they were making it impossible than they said if we couldn't pay them in these forms of payment they would have to tow you to they're shop which would be more money mind you we as of yet agreed to the terms and their driver Harley told my driver we aged which is untrue we were trying to figure the way to pay them and never agreed for him to hook up my driver and take truck to the shop. I'm on the office phone calling to purchase com data chk payment. Now that the secretary of the shop got upset that we were trying to figure out a payment like a credit card form that most businesses have because our driver didn't have $800 cash on him they're now charging us $ 325 per hour until payment We're a company based out of New Jersey and they're located in Connecticut. Do not contact this company and it is also illegal to hook up with an individual in the vehicle or truck and they're driver hooked up our truck basically making it a obligated hostage situation. This is not the way to conduct business especially when a company is based two states away and is literally trying to make a payment and they're making it impossible to charge you more. Unbelievable! My family and I had already driven 450 miles of a 500 mile trip and my 8 year old daughter had a sudden stomach ache and needed a restroom ASAP. She NEVER cries about something like this, but started to cry and told me she couldn't wait anymore. My wife went in and right back out, telling me they didn't have a public restroom. I brought her back over and yelled to the guy, "I HAVE AN 8 YEAR OLD GIRL CRYING BECAUSE SHE HAS TO GO SO BADLY AND YOU CAN'T EVEN MAKE ONE EXCEPTION?!" Absolutely miserable pieces of garbage with no souls own and work at this place. Let's pray for a careless smoker near the pumps. read more
