Excellent service. Big shop. I purchased an engine from SVM and it lasted 13 years.

He squeezed us in immediately and patched up the tire! We were out of there less than an hour after we broke down. He easily could have overcharged us because we were desperate but he charged us very fairly! Thank you!

Every once in a while, I accidentally stumble upon a business that renews my faith in businesses…read more Tom's Brake & Auto is one of those. I showed up on a Saturday morning, hoping to just get an opinion about a brake issue so I could schedule an appointment for another day. I had been forewarned by a friend who is a self-declared car expert that this was going to be a major, costly job. In the end, I drove out of there after two hours with brand new rotors and pads, no more squealing from my wheels, and only a small dent in my bank account. As an "older" guy (like me), Tom is from a generation that truly appreciates the concept of holding on to cars, electronics, and other things for as long as they provide good service. Many other mechanics would have scoffed at me for still driving a 2011 Honda Element, making excuses for why they couldn't make my brakes stop catching and squealing ("You have to expect that from a 14-year-old car, sir"), but Tom treated my never-been-washed Element like it was a 2025 BMW. He's a very sociable guy, so I enjoyed chatting with him while he was working. Some might say he actually provides TOO much information, but I really appreciated how he explained everything he was doing, as it was pretty much implied from the beginning that the fix, as confident as he seemed, wasn't a 100% sure-shot. In the end, this relatively simple process of maintenance turned out to be a success, and I think he was as happy and relieved as I was. There are very few mechanics - including dealerships - that I have ever used more than once, but I will definitely be returning to Tom's for whatever my Element needs in the future.

I gotta say, Moe, the owner, is a great guy and knows his stuff…read more Now I'll give my review. I brought my 2002 Maxima to him a few years back for a door hinge replacement as mine was sagging (thanks Nissan). So he installed said door hinge and even painted it to match. Well, I was so impressed with his work that I came back to do a valve cover gasket, new spark plugs, thermal intake spacers, and exhaust work. I had a bit of vibration from the exhaust work at first but that was because the manufacturer didn't do a good job making it. I came back and Moe fixed it no problem. He didn't complain like most shops do, he made sure I was happy. So now a few months later, my transmission started acting up. I drive a 6 speed and the synchros in 2nd gear started grinding. I called Moe to see what his thoughts were and after speaking with him I decided he was the guy to do my tranny too. Let me tell you, not only did Moe do a great job that's been holding up for 2 years now, he even took the time to research specifics about my car and discovered a Tranny upgrade that wouldn't cost me extra but would actually cost LESS than initially quoted and last longer (for gear heads I'm talking about the Spec-V tranny swap). Anyway, it put a big grin on my face, because most shops would just try to get the most money out of me possible. More recently I took my other car to him, an 89 Civic that I use as an extra car when someone in the family needs one. The car wasn't running at all. Moe identified the problem, fixed it, and now the civic runs better than ever before. I've got nothing but good things to say about Moe and his shop, and I plan on coming back for a few other things as well in the future.

After months of research and digging, I found an incredibly well regarded performance shop named "PetrolWerks" located in Long Island, NY. I spoke with the owner Moe Khan (Can't tag he blocked me) about undertaking the completion of the engine swap and was promised a 6-8 month timeline for full completion (Brakes, Suspension, Electrical, etc...) There has been numerous interruptions on his shops behalf (Eviction from previous property for safety compliance issues) which delayed the build for a bit. Eventually I saw a post by a very well-known enthusiast in my area that had to "repossess" his car from PetrolWerks and he explained to me in full detail the whereabouts of my car, and the condition it was likely in... I was very surprised to hear this, and made every attempt possible to get my car out of the place it was. After weeks of trying to reach someone with nothing but silence, I decided to just "show up" with a flatbed behind me. When I called the shop to tell them I was outside with a truck to pick up my E30. I had to go to a secondary location where Moe told me the car was, and I wanted to throw up when I saw the condition/state the car was left in... This car had a low mileage fully refreshed/resealed/machined S52 swapped into it, with every part to complete the swap twice over. When I arrived, every single part I had provided was "missing" and the engine bay had a TREE growing through it. Upon inspection once I brought the car home, the damages from the neglect left me no choice but to send the car to be crushed/scrapped. I always wanted to be the guy that still owned his first car, but unfortunately thanks to Moe Khan and his team at PetrolWerks that will never happen. ***If you are reading this, and you have a vehicle being "worked on" at PetrolWerks, my advice is simple: GO GET YOUR CAR!***Lo
