Decent job they do but a "Thief" working here. Drop my car for body work and they steal my emergency knife I left in the dash compartment. Along with my important paperwork and sunglasses. Manager doesn't give a shit about it. No one say apologies and never want to find out. I have to call police to come in. One more thing, They estimated my car got to change the back bumper and taillight but they only did change the bumper no taillight replacement. But they charged for both parts and full labor. Very dissatisfied, they do not stand by their work. 1st of all it took a month to do the work, then upon completion my backup camera and driver side power window did not work. After another month and taking the vehicle in 4 times, the backup camera works, but the power window still doesn't work. Now, they came up with a lame excuse why it isn't working and refuse to fix it. They stated that I must have leaned against the door so many times that it caused a wire to be pinched and is not their responsibility (although it worked fine prior to being in their shop. Both my daughter and I had one-car collisions that messed up the front ends of our cars. CARSTAR provided us with affordable options for repairing the vehicles that prevented us from having to contact our insurance company (the estimates were under the deductibles). In another instance, the estimate provided by CARSTAR was the one chosen by our insurance agent for repairs since they trusted the mechanic's advice over all other repair garages' names provided. Dearest Carstar in Vestal: I brought you my Mustang for Fender damage. You took a month to repair. Picked up said car and the headlight wasn't in place, hood not on straight and a scratch in new fender. Took back 2 weeks later to get all said repairs re repaired and to have hood stripes put back on, another week In shop. ( oh that's right done in 3 days no one called). Picked up today and hood stripes not put on correctly and uneven. Not impressed carstar not impressed! Please friends avoid this location at all costs. This has been ridiculous! I went in for work to be done on my vehicle. I was set up to drive a tech to my house to drop me off and he would drive back to the shop. The tech was not wearing a mask, and I do have exposure to younger people and some senior citizens. I at first asked if he had a mask and he asked if he could just pull his shirt over his nose and mouth. I said I would feel more comfortable if he wore a mask. We walked back in and people were walking around at random sans mask. I at that point said I wasn't comfortable at this point the tech came out in a mask and told me it's in my head. I have 3 friends that died from this, and I want to limit my exposure. I don't think I missed out, as they are not exactly a glimmering example of professionalism. read more

I chose to send my car here after a run in with a deer because of the good reputation of Hollcrest Collision. On top of that the towing company damaged the vehicle. I didn't know that those were the least of my problems. After spending 51 out of 86 days on Hillcrest CarStars lot, for what should have been about 15 days worth of work, the job is still not done right. After 1400 miles of driving on vacation, the front bumper is coming loose. We have asked to have this repaired 3 times. Paint work and assembly work has been done and redone a minim6of twice. We will be having this bumper done a 4th time somewhere else!! read more

Got rear ended. Geico sent me here for the adjuster on Wednesday and for them to take my car off me and give me a rental courtesy of the other party. Do not take your vehicle here for any reason. Let me tell my story to help you make the right decision. 1. They took my $75,000 truck into repair for a $13,000 repair and quoted 13 business days to complete. After several lies and mistakes, they took 42 days. I had to threaten them that I would be there to retrieve my truck whether they were done or not and report to insurance. 2. While there, I drove by to see if it was parked inside since the he window was broken out. It was outside with rain pouring into it and the doors unlocked. 3. Additional damage was done while there to all 4 corners of the bumpers which they did not repair, the driver side side mirror folding motor burned out, and a very large paint chip from some sort of heated gun bubbles the paint and fell off. 4. The repair they didn't failed to secure the passenger door completely and while driving down the freeway, the door literally fell down 1/2 inch. 5. There are bubbles all over in the paint and spots where primer is showing. 6. Since the tire blew out, they replaced it along with the wheel. I purchased three other tires to match since it was new. They charged me out of pocket $500 for the tire. The tires I purchased (identical) were $285, each. 7. They marked the repair as "structural damage" which it was not, and now my truck is worth $15,000 less. My mother told me to never use the word hate, but I truly hate this place (sorry mom). Recently had an accident, t boned on vestal parkway. I live out of town. Was referred to them by tow truck. Big mistake, I was told "We can write the estimate next week" , Friday afternoon. You will have to pay storage up front till adjuster gets here next week. Then maybe insurance will reimburse. Pushy attitude and insistent on credit card info before the car was even hooked up by tow driver. Wanted all insurance info over the phone. I instructed my driver tow to my home. Tow driver tells me they bird dog him for referrals, they make a lot of money on storage. 3 hours later I was called back that they were saving me a storage spot, inside for the weekend and asked if I was having car towed there. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I had a collision with a Deer and had some damage. Was told Car would be done in one week, when the day I was supposed to pick it up came I got a call the car had an issue and it would be another week. A week later on pickup day got another call saying the car would not be available for pickup that day and it would be another 2 days. Got car Back 16 days after collision and 10 days after they said it would be ready initially. When I was sent a survey to review my experience the link I was texted was "Broken" and they weren't able to send me survey with the correct link, knowing I had told them on the phone i'd be leaving a review Very unprofessional on the phone and refused to help me with rental car expenses that were coming out of own pocket even though both times they waited until the last minute to check the car and the mistakes were on them. Hung up on me on the phone, when I expressed my frustration at the situation and overall a very shady company who will try to get every penny out of you and not be upfront about the time it will take to fix your car. Got a call my vehicle is done and I can pick it up after they had it for 3 weeks. Parts missing, parts loose and rattling, pieces were glued / caulked in place but not holding, bumper crooked, filler pieces missing, emblems put on misplaced, doors not sealing, truck box put on crooked and they caused big air pockets in my rhino liner and told me they are not going to fix it and the list goes on and on. The truck has been back there 3 times after the original repair and it is still not right. Thinking maybe it will take a life time to have Hillcrest Carstar get the repairs correct. read more

I was t-boned by a student recently and Geico, his dad's insurance, made an appointment for me at Hillcrest CARSTAR. I could not have had a better experience with both the shop or the insurance company. Everyone at Carstar was so nice and made it easy for me to go through the claims process, turn in my car and drive away in a rental. My car was done 8 days later and not only did I drive away owing $0 (except the collision coverage on the rental) with my car looking like nothing had ever happened to it, but the people of Hillcrest CARSTAR washed the outside of my car AND wiped down and vacuumed the inside of my car for me. Had previously two good experiences here, but then we had a terrible experience. Our Audi Q5 was involved in an accident in 8/28/18 and needed a new door. They made me bring it in twice for estimates which were approved by State Farm, then said to bring car in 9/5/18 but then said the door wasn't available and we would need to wait. Meanwhile the door barely closes. Multiple calls were met with excuses. Finally, yesterday we found out the door wasn't even ordered until three weeks later, a total of five weeks after we brought it in. We are going somewhere else. read more

UPDATE CONTINUED.. Another screw-over by CarStar! The lease on my car is due in 24 days, and a mandatory car inspection by Miller Honda Finance Company had to be preformed. So today the inspector came to give me the low down. Beside the fact of having put me through hell for over 4 months with their lack of their ability, and their incompetence to fix my car, I was more than sure that they robbed my new tires and replaced them with used. Why? Because my car came from the factory with Firestone tires, and came back from CarStar with Bridgestone tires.I had no way to prove what brand came with the car, because sometimes Honda uses Bridgestone. Today gave me the answer. The odometer reads 7,126 miles, not even enough miles for a second oil change! When the inspector digitally gauged the tire tread, he told me that 3 of the tires gauged 20,000 miles plus, and the rear tire on the passenger side gauged just under the wire of acceptance!!! They gauged at 5 and 4. The 7,126 mile tread should have gauged 7 or more he said. A 9 gauge is brand new. After charging $13,149.46 for repairs (and I use that term very loosely!), you should have at least bought one damn new tire for the front of my car, because that was all that was needed, and leave the other three the hell alone. I hope all who are reading this take me seriously. These people are nice, but they will screw you if they can. Shame on you, Hillcrest CarStar in Vestal NY, for being part of, and adding to the problem that makes today's society dysfunctional. PS. Sorry Caitlyn. horrible experience at vestal Carstar! staff very rude and doesn't care about customers. i had to set an appointment for Hail damage on my truck. Got an estimate done threw my insurance and then gave them a call to set an appointment. All I got was "well call you back" over a week later, no call. Called again and got the receptionist who let me speak to Bud. both very rude for no reason. All he said was "we need an estimate brought in". which wasnt said over a week ago when I called. I told him I wasn't told to to that and he contuined to have an attitude. I brought the estimate down and stood and waited for 15 minutes Bud walked by me 4 times ignorning that I exist While most of the staff is in the room next to me laughing and talking about there personal lives as a stand there and wait. then finally comes over to me. Says he'll call me back within a day or two. Here it is 5 days later and nothing. they obviously don't want business here. Very disrespectful and I shouldn't have to keep reaching out when they keep saying that they will call me! Horrible communication and customer service. This was the worst car experience I've ever had and I would strongly encourage people to go elsewhere because these people are incapable of working at an auto body shop. Absolutely terrible customer service. I had gotten into a fender bender however my car was incapable of being driven. I brought it there to get fixed and they ended up having my car for almost 2 months! They ordered the wrong parts at first and then also didn't realize they needed additional parts until they had the car for 3 weeks already. I was given 4-5 estimated dates none of which were accurate. Insurance only covered a month of a rental car which I had to pay an additional 2 weeks since they had my car for over that time (which is ridiculous). I figured since they were responsible for me having to pay so much towards the rental car, that they would have done something. I shouldn't have had to pay so much when I got the car due to the fact that it was there fault I had to pay so much for the rental car. I spoke with the manager who did absolute nothing, he was condescending and kept trying to put the blame on someone else. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Worst experience ever. read more
