So I can't do any more than three stars because I didn't actually use Ray's auto for anything, and I don't want to give less than three because I don't know how their service is.. I am leaving a review however because at about 10:00 on a Thursday morning, I called these guys because my wife is sitting on the side of an exit ramp off the highway with a flat tire and I needed someone to either tow it, or change it for her, and I figured a nice 24-hour towing place would be able to get it done... Only instead of answering the phone it rang a few times and went to voicemail. I thought that was kind of odd. I've used 24-hour towing places before and typically there is at least an operator or someone that answers the phone, or one time I remember a voicemail box that said if nobody calls you back in 5 minutes here's another number. But anyway yeah, yelp is where I typically go to share my experiences, and luckily we found someone else that I basically threw a stack of cash at to go change her tire for her. read more

Do not use this company and read the reviews. I was just tailgated and almost run off the road by one of their drivers, who was in full size tow truck. Not only was he tailgating me he sped up next to me yell and throw hand gestures. This is how you treat women? After reading some of the reviews on here, I realized that this is obviously an ongoing issue with their company. How can you have drivers running people off the road and tailgating people while driving around. Get your drivers in check. read more

Rays towing service / I would hope the drivers would know the rules of the road being CDL drivers and has the skills of safety for all. 8/1/24 within less then a mile, the driver in Rays recovery truck tail gated me the entire way with emergency vehicles pulled over on the right, then into a work zone with one lane closed. At the red light I took pictures of driver & truck. This all happen within one mile of their shop in the city Binghamton NY. As a current CDL A driver myself for over 45 years this person shouldn't be allowed to have a CDL. Very unprofessional & unsafe ! read more

Horrible customer service. I went in For transmission...a guy was ahead of...two people behind the desk. Talking to this guys who had already been taken care of....I stood there for 5 mins. No one acknowledge my presence or even say hi. They are really bad with customer. Customers are the reason you are in business...never forget that, no matter how great you got it. Remain decent with new customers. At least, say hi, just a minute would have been ok...but carrying a conversation while customers are waiting...is simply rude, unprofessional. Get your act together. I went to another mechanic before Ray's Auto and they wanted to charge over double the price. At Ray's not only was it half the price but the customer service is great! The name at front ( Greg?) is very kind and explained everything to us even though I know nothing about cars. He even brought the piece I needed replaced so I could see what was wrong. Great place! My daughter n I had the lovely experience of getting a flat tire on the busy highway . Within 10 min of calling rays young fellow very sweet came to our rescue n gave us a ride to shop. They had my suv done in less then 4 hours ...alignment , two new tires n the oil change was way cheaper then Valvoline . And done fast n the mechanics were very nice . My Minivan broke down at 11pm on our way home and we were stuck 130 miles from home with my husband, 16 year old son and 13 year old special needs son. Wonderful service. Was locked out of my car and Ray came through for me within 20 minutes as promised and didn't even take money for the service. I wish I could go back and give him a bigger tip. Rays was recommended to me by a friend when I moved to Binghamton in 2009. Since then, they have provided me with excellent, friendly, and honest service. They have seen me through everything from regular inspections and oil changes to a car accident and major parts replacement, always taking the time to listen to me, answer my questions, and act as a second opinion whenever I had to seek car service out of town. I could not get my car started, the battery was dead. I tried a jump from my wife's car - no go. I called a towing service about starting it. They didn't make house calls, but refered me to Ray's Auto. The woman who answered at Rays' was polite and said she would send someone out. The young fellow that came, within 15 minutes, was both polite and efficient, and the cost was reasonable even though they had me over a barrel. I strongly recommend this company. read more

I used to work in all kinds of garages, so I can usually spot and avoid the rip-offs. Ray's is where I take my car, now that I'm too old to mess with it anymore, but I can still complain about service. It's annoying as heck to not be able to whine about something, but I've been overcharged less there than anywhere else (it isn't the late 60s, 70s, or even the 80s anymore, where my 'cost basis' has been stuck for decades). I like it, and will keep using them (they towed my motorcycle once, which is how they found a loyal customer) read more

By far the worst interaction I've had with any business of any sort. I called for help with being locked out of a car. I was told someone would be by shortly. 40 mins later, nothing. I called the shop's number 3 times and each time I was hung up on. About 10 mins after that I received a call from the driver who said he was running let due to a traffic accident. Ok, understandable. About 30 mins later the truck pulls up to my home and immediately drives off. Tried calling the driver and the shop about 5 more times, being hung up on each time. A simple phone call would have sufficed. I understand it can get busy with the weather this time of year, but completely ignoring my calls was beyond unprofessional and just rude. In total I waited over 2 hours for nothing. Very surprised to see so many good ratings by others. Not a chance I would ever contact this garage again. read more
