I will not be buying a replacement vehicle for myself from any of the Matthew's dealerships. We had a great experience with a sales rep at their Mitsubishi / VW dealership even though I didn't fit into most of the cars we looked at. The salesman we were working with recommended we check out their Kia / Subaru store and called ahead for us. Upon arriving we were immediately greeted by Brian Chadwick and I'm happy to say everything worked out great. I explained what we were looking for and he took us to a bunch of vehicles so we could see how I fit into them. Eventually we test drove a 2020 Subaru Outback even though it wasn't on our list and we loved it. We went back in and did the preliminary paperwork which was painless. There was no pushiness around the optional extras that they offered. Most importantly the price was very fair without having to do any kind of haggling. When all that we could do with Brian was finished for that evening we were passed onto one of the finance people who was also very nice, and again this was completely straight forward. No backroom sales pitches or any other junk that we've run into before. We came back the following Thursday to finish all the paperwork and take delivery of out new Outback. The process was very relaxed and if I can be honest, we left without feeling like we'd gone through what I'd call a normal car buying process. This was so far removed from any experience we've had in the past, we will definitely be coming back here the next time we need a replacement vehicle. If you're looking for a car, I'd recommend the trip to Vestal to check them out and I definitely recommend working with Brian Chadwick.

I brought my car in three times over the past two months for the same issue a parasitic battery draw and each time they found a way to charge me more money for a service/ parts I did not need and the car still won't start. Each time I go into their office they don't listen to me and my concerns about the car and it is a struggle to get them to explain how they supposedly fixed the problem. Never again will I go back to a Ford dealership or ever buy a Ford again. And this is coming from a guy who grew up in a family that only bought Fords. Update: I brought my car back for a fourth time to the dealership to fix the same issue. It has been there for over two weeks now and they are no closer to figuring out what is wrong with the car. I never hear about the status of my car unless I call or visit them. They are in denial about the state of the car and they do not want to make this situation right. I called Todd Bushnell twice he has yet to get back to me. Don't buy a car here or bring a car here it will save you 3months of headaches!

Only take my truck to the dealer when I'm working on the road as I no way to service it with no tools, or garage of my own. Also, I always make sure the truck it clean... makes it easier for me to spot damage. Well, it rained the night before. It was a spotty in places; not so bad that I couldn't help but notice marks on my driver door. At first glance it looked like bird droppings. Then I noticed a blurred image in the paint... as if the panel was damaged. Upon closer inspection it was damaged... multiple scratches, three to four small dents, and exposed metal. I immediately went back inside to complain. Was given an apology from Warren... that doesn't help my paint. I suggested we get this taken care of as I am not a resident in the area. In town working on a contract; not exactly sure when I will be leaving. I was taken to the body shop to get it taken care of, but was told they were busy. So busy that you can't take care of a customer that just $500 on their vehicle to keep it in great shape only to have a careless technician damage the vehicle he is servicing. After looking at other areas of my vehicle I noticed footprints on my door sill facing inwards. One of the foot prints (towards the rear of the driver seat and on the pillar) made me think they climbed up to look at the roof to see how I removed my roof rack. Since there is nothing up top to grab on to they fell back against the door, and it banged up against a tougher object. Just my theory... either way they need to fix it. So, I was told by the body shop manager he had no time. Have to say I didn't like his attitude. It was as if my situation (which was no fault of mine) was bothering him). Like I have time to waste coming back to the dealership to wait for them to fix my vehicle. When I do bring it back what am I supposed to drive? How long will it take? Am I a priority? These guys told me I have to wait until November to get my issue taken of. Wow... great way to blow me off. Felt more like they pushed the date out to make me not want to come back. I realize the auto industry is taking a hit due to our current economic situation. However, dealers need to realize it's the service people get that make them want to do business with them in the first place. Take care of people and they will take care of you. Well, I'm taking care to warn others to heed this type of blatant disregard for the customer... you damage the vehicle and make it ready for pickup line nothing happened. You don't deserve to serve customers. Might be more of the reason your dealership needs more business than anything else going on. My damage would have taken a good body shop guy a no time to do. I paid for my service, so I should have left there completely satisfied. Pretty sure the body shop was working on vehicles for them to sell... could care less because my truck was messed up. Totally forgot to mention it took them two days to change my engine oil, rear differential and transfer case fluid. Also, told them to do my transmission and front differential. They told me the transmission fluid looked ok (I have 150k; needs to be changed!!!). Then told me the front differential can't be serviced; need to remove the axles to change the fluid. What? I wouldn't trust them if I were you. Sounds more like they are trying to get the used cars ready to put out on the lot, and prefer not to have any distractions; like paying customers. The body shop area was full of used cars... guess that's why I couldn't get the damage they caused to my door fixed. In regards to the items they didn't service, this same dealership would probably love to charge me for a new transmission, or front differential, if I ever would bring it to them complaining that it's "shifting weird", or making a "funny noise". Of course it would be if the people who are supposed to be qualified to maintain our vehicles don't know how/ don't wanna fix them. I hope Ford never allows them to sell another car!!!

I recently went through a very stressful situation where my EV6 ended up non-drivable due to a warranty-related issue. I was effectively stranded with no way to get to my vehicle or to the loaner that was already set aside for me. It was one of those situations where you feel completely stuck and unsure how you're going to get back to your normal life. The GM and Service Manager stepped in personally, listened to what was happening, and took ownership of the situation. They didn't make excuses, they didn't pass me around, and they didn't leave me waiting endlessly. They got directly involved -- communicating with the right people, coordinating transportation, and making sure I had access to a vehicle again as soon as possible. They handled everything professionally, calmly, and with actual care for what I was dealing with. They kept in contact, followed through on what they said, and made sure things happened same day so I wasn't stuck any longer. Any dealership can do business when things are easy. What really matters is how a dealership responds when something goes wrong -- and this team showed integrity, empathy, and real leadership. I genuinely appreciate the support I received from Matthews Kia Vestal. They stepped up when it mattered most, and they earned my respect and trust. Thank you.

We call a tow truck and find a close Volkswagen dealer to bring the car. I called ahead and they said they were busy but could certainly pull the codes to find out what was happening. Upon arrival they immediately put a tech on it and he rapidly diagnosed a faulty alternator. I went into the service counter to decide what to do with the car and it turns out it was lucky for me that the Service Manager was in on his day off to take care of a few things. He immediately hatched a plan to get the alternator in house quickly and asked a tech to stay late to get us back on the road. Wow what great luck, but it turns out it was too good to be true, the alternator was not available locally, but they could get it by Monday. The service manager came up with another great plan to get us going. We leave the car for service and we get an enterprise rental car to get going and he will arrange for our car to be delivered to us in Rhode Island for a nominal fee. He calls Enterprise to get us a car (they close in 20 minutes) and then drives us to the rental place in his own car, waits for us to obtain the car before leaving, shakes our hand and we are back on the road. The car was repaired for less than the quoted price and is on its way back to me now. I cannot say enough good things about the service department at Matthews on the Parkway in Vestal, NY. You may not need what I did, but they will certainly bend over backwards to help you.

Their webpage was up to date and spot on with the photos, descriptions and the asking prices were the same as the prices given in person. The best part of it was their site was up to date with their stock, a big problem for most of the car dealers I have dealt with over the years. Richard (son of Carlo, who I also met briefly) was very thorough in his presentation of the car, both in it's history, all the work they did to it to ready it for sale (he showed me the invoices!) I am a licensed auto appraiser, and as an occupational hazard I pick out flaws in any cars fit and finish. Richard was telling them to me even before I pointed them out. I've never had a dealer be so honest and up front about a vehicle they were trying to sell. He allowed my wife and I to take a lengthy test drive...by ourselves...so we could put the car through it's paces. He even recommended a place we could each lunch, as we were not from the area. I am an educated buyer, I knew exactly what I wanted and what a fair price would be. The actual negotiation was easy, I made a fair offer and he accepted it. No BS, no tricks, nothing other than "that's fair, I can do that" I've bought a ton of cars in my life, both new and used. This was by far the best purchase experience that I have ever had. I've had the car for just about a month now, had zero issues with it and I could not be happier with the experience. The next time I go shopping, they will be first on my list.
